SAFECO named Yom Senegor, a leader in developing technology solutions for the insurance industry, as its new CIO.
Senegor, 43, joins SAFECO from Accenture (formerly known as Andersen Consulting), where he was one of the three managing partners of the firm’s North American insurance practice and member of Accenture’s North America Financial Services Management Council.
Investing in technology to support agents and employees is one of the commitments that SAFECO President and CEO Mike McGavick made when he joined the company in January.
“Since technology is at the center of our plans, Yom also will lead the strategic-planning process for SAFECO’s senior management team on my behalf,” McGavick added.
Since 1981, Senegor has held a number of senior positions at Accenture, helping many of the nation’s largest insurance companies develop state-of-the-art technology solutions including automated underwriting, sales and service systems, and new product-development capabilities. This includes an effort, launched in June of this year, to examine SAFECO’s technical capabilities.
“Insurance is an information-based business that deserves world-class information systems,” Senegor said. “We’ll focus on systems that provide agents with insight into what customers want, and help SAFECO successfully execute its business plans while reducing the time it takes to bring innovative products to market…SAFECO was one of the early leaders in using technology to help independent agents be successful.”
