The St. Paul Companies announced the launch of a new web-based tool to assist agents with obtaining single entry, real-time quotes for small commercial products. The tool was developed to be compatible with the quoting systems of other insurance carriers and, in the future, will allow agents to obtain multiple quotes from various carriers without having to duplicate data entry into various quoting systems.
The new XML quoting technology is based on the ACORD XML standard for P&C transactions, and gives agents the ability to generate real time quotes directly from their Applied Systems agency management system in conjunction with the IVANS Transformation Station technology. The St. Paul is currently piloting the single-entry quoting solution with several agencies. The piloting is expected to be completed within the next couple of months, at which time the company plans to offer this new quoting option to any of its agencies that meet the minimum technology requirements and that wish to use the new system.
For agents who do not use the Applied Systems agency management system required for this new quoting system, The St. Paul already has available two other small commercial quoting options, including: SPCQuote ™ (www.spcquote.com), a quoting application currently used by more than 3,000 agencies; and the Business Foundation System (www.stpaul.com/arc), a web-accessible application that gives St. Paul agencies the ability to quote and service their policies. The company also offers its agents the option to download policy information into the agency management system.
