Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. approved the addition of Zachary W. Carter to the slate of nominees for the board of directors of MMC. MMC shareholders will be asked to elect Carter to the board at the company’s annual meeting on May 20, 2004.
Carter, 54, has been a partner at the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP since 1999. Prior to that he served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York (1993-1999), United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York (1991-1993), Judge of the Criminal Court of the City of New York (1987-1991), and Executive Assistant District Attorney, Kings County District Attorney’s Office, Brooklyn, New York (1982-1987). Carter is chairman of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hale House Center Inc., and a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University School of Law. He received his B.A. degree from Cornell University in 1972 and his J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 1975.
