Zurich North American announced from its Illinois headquarters that its political risk unit, which provides insurance solutions for emerging markets, has been voted “Best Private Insurer” by the readers of Trade Finance magazine for the third year in a row.
The unit, based in Washington, DC, specializes in underwriting political risk and medium-term trade credit insurance, and developing “comprehensive coverage for global customers investing and trading in emerging markets around the world.”
Zurich’s bulletin noted that “each year Trade Finance conducts the only readers’ poll of its kind in the world that recognizes leading providers and arrangers of trade finance products and services. The poll is considered by the industry to provide an accurate reflection of conditions in the marketplace.”
“By building partnerships with our clients, as well as with multilateral agencies, public agencies and private insurers, we are able to provide the innovative coverage needed for successful business transactions in emerging markets,” commented Daniel Riordan, executive vice president and managing director of the emerging markets unit. “Since many of our insureds and brokers are Trade Finance readers who participated in this poll, the award confirms that our approach is helping our clients develop growth opportunities in emerging markets around the world.”
Trade Finance magazine editor Jonathan Bell noted:”The wide geographic spread of the returns for Zurich demonstrates that the organization is held in high regard in every region. This was our second year of online voting and returns were even heavier than last year. This greater response is indicative of the positive recognition for Zurich’s emerging markets capabilities.”
