90% of these leads are big time price shoppers who can care less what coverages they get. They are shopping only for price and the person who low balls the coverages will win the bid 90% of the time. It is probably great for that new agent starting out who needs to build his or her book, but most established agent will not work for minimum wage chasing these leads.
I agree, great post.
so a failing internet company that thought they could eliminate the human touch finally fiqures out the internet promotes shopping but not buying. Brokers; always remember your value as a closer and cherish your direct position of trust with the customer, beats a website everytime.
I use the internet as a source of marketing. You’re right, we are still the Agent and we still have to SELL. Not every lead is gold, but I have sold good families that were looking for insurance from an internet source. It’s not all about price for everyone that goes on the internet. Today’s climate makes it harder to call customers. I am always looking for another way to get in front of people. I am all about business and I look to get in front of clients every day. Companies like InsWeb are not the only marketing in will do in my office, but I make money using the sources that I currently use for internet leads. I am going to give this company a try. As Agents, we owe it to ourselveves not to get too fat & happy. All the customers need us.
The Insurance Web is no doubt much cheaper
but I would envision huge numbers of agents pursuing most of these internet leads. Probably many after a while would feel the odds are overwhelmingly against
closing most of the time.
However, I know of a former commercial producer, who has made approximately 3 million prospecting calls across North America over 13 years to virtually all industries, generating leads and booking appointments.
Please respond.
Insweb is a retail agency. Why would an agent buy a lead from a competitor?
I would like home insurance leads. Is this something you can offer me.
