New York, N.Y.-based Mercator Risk Services, the newly formed, independent wholesale insurance broker, has appointed industry expert John Cleary as senior vice president of its Casualty Construction and Real Estate Practices. Cleary has been with Mercator since its inception and is a member of its Casualty leadership team.
In his new role, Cleary will be responsible for building and leading Mercator’s Casualty teams that specialize in placements for Construction and Real Estate risks, including contractors, development projects and residential real estate.
Prior to joining Mercator, Cleary was the New Jersey Branch Manager for Peachtree Special Risk, a wholesale broker. He has more than 25 years of industry experience including senior positions at Montgomery & Collins, Guy Carpenter and Tri-City Brokerage.
“John brings the kind of experience and team-player mentality that will drive our Casualty business,” said President and CEO Christopher Treanor. “His depth and breadth of knowledge in the real estate and construction industries will give our retail brokerage clients a crucial competitive advantage in placing insurance for their commercial customers.”
