Swiss Re and London American Risk Specialists Inc. launched a program for small to medium-sized private and public utilities. The program, which includes classes of business for utilities such as gas, electrical, water and sewer facilities, is now active in 17 states, primarily in the South and Midwest.
Coverages include multi-line general liability, property, crime, equipment breakdown, inland marine and auto. General liability will have $1 million limits per occurrence with a $2 million aggregate, while property limits will vary by location.
“Utilities are a fundamental part of the nation’s infrastructure and London American’s team has been insuring them for nearly 40 years,” said Robin Sterneck, head of Swiss Re’s Commercial Insurance. “By combining the service and expertise of London American with the underwriting and risk experience of Swiss Re we will make this program the preferred solution for agents and their clients.”
Eligible states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
“We are very excited to work with an organization with the financial strength and stability of Swiss Re’s Commercial Insurance,” said Brady Carruth, president of London American, a managing general underwriter based in Houston, Texas.
