Every dog has his day. Think brother-in-law Trent Lott will visit?
Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Everything we say in secret will be SHOUTED FROM THE ROOFTOPS! The day of judgement has come.
cynical guy that I am (and very pleased with this) I wonder how many other crimes didn’t get revealed in his career – - -
I like the 5 years…..IF he serves it which is doubtful. Once the sensationalism quiets, watch for a VERY early release w/o publicity. The $250,000 fine is an insult to every decent person on the planet. He should be required to make full restitution and his assests seized and liquidated if he can’t pay. The problem with our legal system is that it’s too lenient for “white collar” crimes. As it stands, this scumbag will be out in time to enjoy his retirement and all his fraudulently obtained money.

The judge said something similar during the sentencing.
Bunch of CROOKS
Thanks for the truth.
Poor Dickie, “appeared” to shed a tear. Don’t you just feel so sorry for this low life. At least the sentencing was the max they could get, but I agree that he should have to pay back every penny he stole.
Wonder how many of Dickie’s other cases were the result of bribes. The guy tried one case in his life and loss, but used the legal system to extort billions which ultimately comes out of the consumer’s pocket. The problem is there is no effective regulation of attorneys and they can hide behind the atty/client privilege to keep the truth hidden. Not to mention that MS has been a black mark on our system of justice.
now they can make a movie about how the self righteous ‘champions of the people’ turn out to be crooks sometimes…
Hopefully he can share a cell with Elliot. Naw on second thought those two getting together almost scares me.
in disguise, now the question as someone put it, what about the other cases? did he attempt the same concept and was able to ride them out of court? so, how is $250k enough to settle for something so huge?
My local newspaper (far away from Mississippi) did imply, that this was probably not the first time Scruggs bribed a judge. According to the paper investigations are still ongoing. I love the part about him having to pay for his stay in prison.
Has anyone heard of the asbestos debacle involving many doctors in many states with many attorneys who had to testify before the house and took the fifth. It involved silica and asbestos diagnoses that may have been something less than accurate. If memory serves me Dickie was sued by one of his ex-partners over attorney fees, no honor among thieves; but then honor and thieves are mutually exclusive terms aren’t they. Dickie, I suspect was right in the middle of that as well or some of his ex partners, partners, cohorts in crime, etc.
Come on Dickie! If you are going to bribe a judge over $26 million in fees, you insulted him offering $50k. I would suggest that next time you offer a much larger sum. Oh, that’s right, there will NOT be a next time!!
