W. R. Berkley Corp. has appointed J. Michael Foley as president of Berkley Risk Administrators Co. (BRAC).
Foley succeeds BRAC founders Mark C. Tansey and Kenneth R. Hopkins, who will each continue in a consulting capacity with W. R. Berkley Corp. and its affiliates.
Foley has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined W. R. Berkley Corp. in 1995, and, most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Berkley Medical Excess Underwriters since its inception in 2001. Prior to leading BerkleyMed, he founded Midwest Employers Casualty Co., another W. R. Berkley Corp. member company, serving as its first chief executive officer. Both BerkleyMed and Midwest Employers Casualty Co. provide excess insurance and reinsurance coverage to self-insured entities in many of the same markets in which BRAC currently operates.
