Weiss Group, Inc., the parent company of Weiss Ratings, Weiss Research and Weiss Capital Management, has hired Thomas J. Clarke, Jr. as chief executive officer.
Martin D. Weiss, CEO since 1971, will continue as chairman of the board and editor of the firm’s largest circulation publication, Money and Markets.
Before joining the Florida-based Weiss, Clarke, 53, was the CEO of TheStreet.com for 10 years. Earlier, he served as president of Thomson Financial Investor Relations.
At Weiss, Clarke will focus his efforts on corporate planning and growth, while Dr. Weiss will address consumer and investor advocacy, according to the announcement.
The first Weiss company was founded in 1971. Now, the Weiss Group includes Weiss Ratings, an independent provider of bank and insurance company ratings; Weiss Research, the publisher of Money and Markets, Safe Money Report, Uncommon Wisdom, Real Wealth Report, and other investment newsletters; plus Weiss Capital Management, Inc., which manages accounts for individuals and institutions.
