Learned the danger of self-cleaning ovens years ago when it caught the cabinets of fire. Not a lot you can do when the door locks during the cleaning cycle. The fire department had to tear it out of the wall.
Just Google “safeproducts.gove and republican criticism” and you’ll see it all.
Just one example: Republican congressman Mike Pompeo sponsored an amendment, passed by the Republican controlled House that withheld funding for the website.
Do you really think Republicans would support a new consumer protection program initiated by the Obama administration?
Republicans?…Please note that IJ is edited by a liberal leaning Democrat trying not to ever waste an opportunity to promote liberal ideology for the sake of the current US president.
There, now I got to add Democrat to the same equated article.
As pointed out in this post, the database serves as an effective medium for consumers to stay up-to-date on recent recalls. Because of today’s easy access to online information, manufacturers and retailers need to take every necessary precaution to avoid recalls and handle them correctly, should one arise. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently discovered an alarming number of national companies are failing to report product defects correctly. In fact, the CPSC fined ten companies more than half a billion in 2011, compared to just two companies in 2010. What penalty do you think companies should face for not reporting defects?

GE refuses to stand by their product when their is a manufacturers defect. So much for pride with American made products.
