But will they accept all adults regardless of Pre-EX’s. That is something that is truly needed. Not sure how to do it but it would be nice!
The Pre-X’s and indigents could have been covered under the Pools for a fraction of what Obamacare is due to cost. United and others will end up being shills for the government under online health insurance/exchanges. The government will subsidize the premiums and guess who gets caught holding the bag. Rationed care, poor coverage under Medicaid like coverage and we will be good to go, right?
The ONLY reason that Republicans are hell-bent on killing off the Affordable Care Act is that they consider the individual mandate to be the camel’s nose under the tent for a segue into (horrors!) a single-payer system. But, segue into single-payer we eventually will, but only after squandering trillions of dollars on utterly worthless transactional expenses to support the charade of an “insurance” system to fund healthcare. The very notion of for-profit and even not-for-profit healthcare insurers calibrating and scaling back coverage to produce an underwriting profit or surplus and hence exploiting and scaling back treatment for Americans’ bodily infirmities is repulsive.
William, You sound like the typical Progressive egghead with your flowery treatise about the single payor system being inevitable. The whole world is on fire with government largesse, waste and corruption and you favor the government taking over more of our lives. The government is the poster child for inefficiency and ineptitude. Do you really think that forcing Medicaid type coverage, rationed care on the American people is the answer to our Healthcare problems? The 2,700 page monstrocity dropped on the American people will not stand. The tragedy of it all was that a private market solution could have been done and we wouldn’t be arguing about it the last two years. It is interesting that you referenced the Affordable Care Act. Tell me what is affordable about it. Everytime it is scored, it doubles in cost. Do you want a government bureaucrat saying you can’t have that needed surgery to save your life. This act is a death sentence for seniors who develop life threatening issues. Is this what America is all about?
I agree with Agent that when the Affordable Care Act is scored, it doubles in cost. The reasons for this are the compromises that had to be made with the Republicans to preserve the for-profit healthcare sector. This was to avoid any cost-efficient infrastructure that might lead to the least expensive healthcare delivery model, single-payer.
I noticed you singled out Republicans on the compromises that had to be made. Perhaps you have forgotten that the Democrats had overwhelming majorities in the House & Senate when this legislation was passed by ramming it down our throat with “no” Republican votes. Actually, there were a number of Democrats who expressed reservations so they had to be brow beaten, threatened and bribed to vote for the act with minor compromises. Then, the people voted these compromisers out of office in the mid terms. We will not forget about how all this came about and will do something about it in November.
William, have you had the blinders on. Let’s look at Canada’s plan. Why do many of their seniors come to the US for treatment? Cuz the waiting period for surgeries is years. I know of a Canadian govt worker hurt on the job who had to wait 18 months for knee surgery. I certainly wouldn’t want that for our country. Time to smell the coffee, and realize that 2700 pages of crap was nothing more than a scam to sink our country. Pelosi and company ought to be tried for treason!!!
Sandman, You and I and a lot of others know how bad this bill was, but Progressives like William think it is “Affordable” and good for the country. All one has to do is look at Europe which is almost completely broke with their government largesse to know this will do the same thing in America. While you are trying Reid and Pelosi, don’t forget Donnelly, National Security Advisor who is the leaker on our national secrets to try to make the President look good. We now have the most corrupt and wasteful government in our history as a country. I only hope we can survive until we get all these bad actors out of government.
