This is a roadmap towards a one world government. There is zero reason to think that a “Trans-Atlantic Partnership” would look any different from the Trans-Pacific Partnership currently being negotiated in utter secrecy and under a full media blackout.

Listen to what they are saying here. “Businesses both in the United States and Europe want Washington and Brussels to strike a deal that removes trade hurdles by requiring both to accept each other’s consumer- and environmental-protection standards.”

Strip away the buzz words and euphamisms. What does this mean?

“We The People” elect Congressional Representatives to pass legislation reflective of the will of the people. We also elect an Executive to enact the law, and we have a Judiciary to check the balance of power and apply the law.

An agreement like the TPP or the TAP suggested by this article would upend our system of government. Under a trade agreement such as what is currently being negotiated for the TPP, the Parties (nations) would be able to skirt domestic environmental and consumer protection laws by pointing to the text of the agreement. This is a way for a US-based company to ignore a French consumer or environmental protection law while ensuring confidence in a lack of material adverse repercussions. But, much like a wall, an agreement such as this does not discern direction very well. Our politicians short-sightedly see a legalese mechanism by which they can enable American companies to enter and dominate foreign markets. What our politicians SHOULD see is an agreement that substantially undermines their ability to pass meaningful and effective legislation here in America. What they SHOULD see is an agreement that holds a US-based company to US laws while allowing a foreign competitor to enter the market while playing by a completely different (and presumably less restrictive) set of rules.

In short the TPP and TPA represent special interest groups attempting to usurp control of democratic processes via super-regional “agreements” between nations that lock-in and cement existing flawed legla principals into a global legal and regulatory framework.

In an age when every little thing is bandied about like an existential threat to our very future it is shocking that no one even has these agreements on their radar. The TPP and this proposed TAP are quite literally the biggest and most meaningful threats to the viability of our system of government. If the transnational corporations–many of which have balance sheets bigger than entire nations–are permitted to create a global legal and regulatory framework that effectively bypasses all ‘partner’ democracies and judicial systems then they will have increased the cost of reversing course by an order of magnitude or more.

Americans decide American law. Any “trade agreement” that permits foreign entities to abide by foreign laws instead of American laws should be called exactly what it is: TREASON

If you want a short and easy to understand example: Say a nation like Germany has a law banning the import, production and sale of GMO crops. America has no such law. An agreement such as this would allow an American company to enter the German market with a GMO product without penalty. And vice versa.

Think about state vs federal regulation of insurance. Now apply that same debate, but instead of just insurance in just the United States, expand the concept to apply to ALL regulation in ALL nations. When put in this light it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what agreements such as the TPP and TAP are really trying to accomplish.
