Gee, Harry…why didn’t you take this up last year?! And why haven’t you passed a budget? Blowhard.

    May 31, 2012:
The House approved a five-year flood reform bill last year, but the Senate failed to consider it or pass another alternative until last week.

    OK…..
Now that we all know that the ‘unknown’ Republican Senator is “Rand Paul;” can we finally get enough of the population to contact their Senators and tell them to abort the Aqua Buddha Boy’ from the floor so that they can do their job and pass this important bill designed to help the public protect their most important asset….

The issue is flood insurance and anything other than that is flagrant abuse of position and power.

IJ in the bag for Obama? Are you kidding me? Having one senator be able to hold up a flood bill is ridiculous, no matter which party it is. And if this unknown senator feels so strongly about this issue, how about he/she comes out from behind the wall?
Adding ridiculous items to this and other bills is the reason that all Americans have such a dim view of our elected officials. Contrary to popular belief, it has not always worked this way in Washington. It’s a fairly recent phenomenon whereby goofy items get tacked onto any and all bills.
We elect our officials to get things done, not to prevent everyone else from across the aisle to get anything done! The whole mess makes me sick!

I believe it is called the Insurance Journal because they report on issues pertaining to insurance.

You can get the news on everything else from Fox News… which it sounds like you are already doing.

Paul’s measure is a personhood amendment that would essentially ban abortion and many forms of contraception. Rand Paul is a major problem child in the Senate. Many bills have been stalled or blocked because he decided that the Senate needed to work even worse than it already does. Keep in mind that this flood bill is legislation that both Republicans and Democrats agree on, which is incredibly rare in the Senate these days. So why is Rand Paul acting like a pr***? Is making progress such an abomination to him that he feels obligated to gum up the works when both parties finally find something to agree on? Or is he just so gung-ho about ending women’s reproductive rights that he’s determined to sabotage any and every bill until he gets his way. Because either way, Rand Paul is being completely out of line and is exactly the kind of elected official America doesn’t need in Congress. When an elected official blocks legislation just for the sake of blocking it or for some frivolous unrelated reason, it’s time for Americans to fire that official and hire one that will do their job seriously and responsibly. The US Senate is already horrible at moving critical pieces of legislation. Anyone who intentionally threatens to block legislation that both parties have endorsed is only there to make government not work and that is bad for the country.

It doesn’t matter who/what is holding this bill up, I’m glad something is. NFIP and crop insurance have no business being subsidized by the taxpayers. If you chose to build in a flood prone area you should be able to afford the insurance otherwise you shouldn’t be located there. It’s that simple. Same should apply when an individual or business makes a decision to grow crops.

Sarah, I’m a woman who is paying attention. So don’t BS me with killing unborn children stuff. The birth control debate, Virginia’s transvaginal ultrasounds for even rape victims, the shaming of Sandra Fluke, Michigan’s silencing of women reps who dared use the word “vagina” on the capitol floor, Rand Paul’s personhood amendment, Arizona’s 20 week abortion ban that starts at the date of a woman’s last period, the Blunt Amendment, on and on and on.

Sarah, I *was* a Republican. Since the Republicans made controlling my body their No. 1 goal, I’m now an independent, and I’m not voting for a bunch of men who want to control my uterus.

          Sally:

If you are paying attention, you know that you do control your uterus. What ticks you off is you don’t control the baby.

You cannot tell the baby to kill itself. You can’t tell it to move up, to move down. You can’t change a baby bump as it forms. That’s the whole point, the baby isn’t your body, and it affects your body.

When you try to lighten it up and say a choice to do with your body you are incorrect. You mean, a baby, which affects your body. Now then, what republicans want is to make sure you don’t kill a baby. It’s a life as soon as it starts. You can’t debate that fact.

Women who are raped are traumatized. They are panicked. Do you honestly think a person that traumatized has the ability to make a choice like that? The very fact that they op for the abortion shows the damage down to them messed them up beyond repair. They want to get rid of the baby because they consider it rape damage. I’m sorry to say that baby is not rape damage. Your pesimsim there is shocking. Ironically the baby’s life only means something if it means something to you.

In the republicans case it always means something.

You call that a war on women? Hah. It’s a war for that baby. And it’s also often a war to help women. Hate to break it to you but most people who have abortions are pretty dumb kids. They aren’t 35 year old people with good careers.

So do you mean also to state this is a war on unprepared girls who are doing stupid things?

Most abortions are not in the case of rape, so don’t come back at me with the “what about women who were raped” crap. Besides, I already partially went over that above.

Abortion is never a “good” action. It’s a panicked action (you aren’t prepared to have a kid, or think you aren’t rather), or done after a bad action to “correct” it (rape). It’s not a “good hearted” action by women or men.

          Grow up.

It’s still up to the individual to decide. Don’t be anti-choice. Leave that between the parents who make the decision to abort and whatever version of a god they may have or not have.
