The recipients of these award actually pay for the trophies and certificates themselves. Probably, GEICO and Progressive did not have their budget to participate.

I work for a small carrier and was surprised how much our marketing department paid to get themselves awards and trophies from various organizations.

This year, 61 companies entered the IMCA Showcase competition representing over 350 entries in 35 categories. The Showcase awards competition is open to all insurers regardless of size. Judges (many of whom are neither IMCA members nor affiliated with the insurance industry) adhere to strict judging criteria and excellence is not defined by the size of the organization or the brand name. There is an entry fee to participate, which is less than most marketing awards programs. Entry does not guarantee an award. Winners do not pay for or purchase awards as the cost of any awards presented is included in the entry fee.
