“According to Rusbuldt, Romney proved to be “quite pragmatic” when he was governor of Massachusetts and he feels that Romney would be able to work out deals with a Senate run by Democrats while also dealing with Tea Party Republicans in the House.”

Huh. I thought Romney issued 844 vetoes as Governor, of which more than 700 were overturned by the legislature. That doesn’t sound like a good ability to work ‘across the aisle’ to me.

    Comment away…

I agree DS. Romney has portrayed himself as being able to work with both sides of the aisle, but when his record as governor was looked at, that was not the case. Not sure why Rusbuldt thinks Romney would be able work more effectively. Quit listening to the spin and do some research!

So FFA, I see the Progressive bloggers are out on this story as well. They say that Republicans only goal was to make Obama a one termer. Does anyone believe that the several dozen bills and an actual budget sent over from the Republican House and pronounced DOA by Harry Reid was a Republican plot to get Obama out of office? He has been protected by Harry Reid for 4 years. He hasn’t had to veto anything because the bills never reached his desk. The only thing that has gone through Congress for some time is continuing resolutions to fund the government since they cannot pass a budget with the current President. In fact, the last one he proposed was voted down 100-0 by the Senate. Even Harry Reid didn’t like what was proposed. I think Romney would have a better chance of working with Congress than what we have now. To him, it is his way or the highway and we are not going to give him his way for 4 more years.

So it’s Obama’s fault that the GOP refuses to work with him? THEY are the real failure here. They exhausted their efforts “the last 4 years” making sure our economy would not improve and that no jobs would be created, and caused our credit rating to fall– ALL to be used as the very basis to hold Obama solely responsible and make him a “one term President”, just as Mitch McConnell promised from day one. This second term will be much more difficult for the GOP to play this childish game- they will be up for re-election next. They will HAVE to shape-up. But some people will never believe this, as Faux News is some peoples’ only source for news.

Yes, agent. Some new blood to the same tired argument.
Still dont change the fact – and everyone on the other stories have never refuted this simple fact – No Tort Reform = No Reform.
Even Libby and Cap Planet agreed to that.
Any one in the insurance world knows that to be true.

And yes Bubba – you dont work with people that are counter productive. Holds true at every level – Govt, Pvt Industry. You dont believe in your leader, you dont follow.

Dont know about you, but I am in much worse shape then I was 4 years ago. Business is down. Had to put good people on the unemployment line. Working more and more hours every week. QUALITY OF MY LIFE SUCKS NOW.

Republicans were not the cause of the credit rating fall.

The word republican was not once used in the report.

      However:

      http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505123_162-57513390/ratings-firm-downgrades-u.s-credit/

Democrats did directly cause a credit down grade with their stimulus methods which devalue the dollar.

You might want to link that report to this one, showing the devalued dollar is the result of the high gas costs, and ergo, the explosion in living costs:

      http://www.freedomworks.org/blog/jborowski/gas-prices-are-rising-because-the-dollar-is-fallin

The value of the dollar coincides with oil costs. The oil costs are high now due to the value of the dollar, not demand. Demand has not doubled since 2007.

Regarding republicans not working with Obama: Obama told them they sit in back during the health care debate, which a majority of Americans disagreed with, and they had their own plan presented as well. Obama could have tweaked their plan. Americans voted the republicans in for that purpose. But as usual, Obama said “how far will you come to my side” as the premise for each “bi partisan” agreement. That’s why he isn’t getting results, it has nothing to do with republicans.

You start on areas of agreement then branch out in bi partisan efforts. You can’t blame republicans considering they had control in 1995, and there was finally an agreement met and surpluses came soon after. The only difference now is that Obama is in office.

He’s partisan. He’s the first that has to go to change the tone.

All of those people were elected to Congress to represent the best interests of their constituents, not to play some political chess game with the country.

It is yet to be seen if they will succeed in making Obama a one-term president or not. But I agree that the stonewalling needs to stop – from whichever side(s) it’s coming from.

The country needs to unite and work together instead of tearing apart. That’s what the Americans of yester-year would have done. What’s happened to us?

I’m afraid that’s the nature of the kind of person that holds office for any extended period of time. I think the majority start off thinking they are going into it as a service to their community, but quickly lose sight of that goal once they are indoctrinated into the machinations of government politics.

Mark this down Libby. I will actually agree with you for the most part. You asked the question about what has happened to us as a country. As a product of the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s growing up into an adult, I have seen the major problem as the growth of Progressive Socialism which has been working at it for a century. The country historically has been center/right and the Progressive politicians including RINO’s want the country to go left. The rancor that exists right now is a back lash against those who do not want Constitutional government, but instead to rule by executive fiat and control everything we do, say, eat and how we do business. Obamacare is the worst example of the type of control the government will have over this country. I am not a racist and I would have no problem with his governance had he not taken us down his road and created so many more problems than we had already. Trust me, this country cannot survive as we have known it if he gets a second term.

Agent – I wish I had the answers, but I don’t think it is as simplistic as you outline. There are plenty of people like me that are not socialists, but see the days of compassion and caring for our fellow man being squeezed out by more materialistic values. Money is king and everyone measures their success, and the success of others, by how much you have. We used to value honor, courage, compassion, and family. And not just towards us and ours, but towards others. Those values have gone by the wayside. That is why I am so against bankers and big business. It seems to breed greed, lust, and avarice and not the good things we used to value.

We had telethons to raise money for medical research to cure diseases, ie Jerry Lewis etc. We had the March of Dimes, Red Cross, Salvation Army and the list goes on. We had a lot of 1%ers that gave to many worthwhile causes, ie Bill Gates furnishing computers to schools etc. This country has a great heart and sends aid to any number of countries affected by disasters and somehow we are perceived as evil. I don’t get it. We are the greatest nation the world has ever known and we are about to lose it and become Chavez if it is not turned around.

You’re right, Agent. We used to do all those things. We used to have communities where everyone knew everyone by name, too. The growth in population, depletion of resouces, and re-distribution of wealth has made that almost impossible. Unfortunately, there are so many in need and so much that needs to be done that I don’t think we can do it alone at this time. It would be nice to get back to that, but the middle class can not contiue to carry the burden of the burgeoning lower class nor take up the slack for the upper class. We are shrinking and getting poorer by the minute.

Libby, I am not ashamed of the United States of America, but I am ashamed of our political leaders, both Democratic & Republican. We have allowed our government to become too big and too powerful and in many ways unaccountable thanks to the media who refuses to report the news and dig into wrongdoing. Our country can be restored to greatness, but it needs leadership and vision which is in short supply in Washington DC currently. We also don’t need trickle up poverty which is eating the Middle Class up. The policies of the past 4 years is guaranteed to make much of the country poor on this crazy re-distribution of wealth scheme. The way to help the poor and middle class is to create jobs where they can bring themselves up. Create 15-20 million new jobs and everyone will benefit including you and I. It is pretty much impossible to do with what this President is proposing. Wrong policies will continue to drag us down to the abyss of poverty and frustration and it is no wonder we have such rancor and dissatisfaction.

Libby, Greed, lust, avarice has been a part of the human condition since man has lived on the earth. It is just more on display now that we have the 24/7 news cycle, the internet etc. JFK had a lot going on during his time with the ladies in the White House, but there was no media coverage, no internet and he got away with it for the most part. Slick Willy thought he could too, but it caught up to him. Your favorite whipping boys, the banks would not have been able to do what they did if the politicians didn’t allow it to happen. They were taking the goodies in return for favorable legislation passed. Chris Dodd is the best example of corruption personified and there are numerous others involved. They have also been doing inside trading on the stock market to build their fortunes. It is one giant cesspool in Washington and it needs to stop starting tomorrow.

      En Masse:

I disagree. When things are bad, “progressive” can be used to maintain the status quo.

It’s a matter of perspective. “conservative” can mean that you are “conservative” with regards to whether or not businesses should be allowed to have slaves. You would be “progressive” if you pushed for the freedom of a business to own slaves.

You either offer “conservative” laws regarding racism (limited allowance) or “progressive” (limitless allowance) key words being “conservative” (limited) progressive “limitless”.

When things are bad, and the economy does “limitless” loans to the poor as an example, that was “progressive” in the 90’s. Making home loans “limitless”. Conservative was to keep that task “limited” to the private companies.

I understand from a lot of the left’s point of view (though wrong) it was allowing private companies to operate which made the (limitless) expansion, however by nature these companies were they to make choices, they want (limited) expansion. The government’s “progressive” intervention was to make “limits” regarding low income poverty level loans “less limited”.

Liberals perceive that having the governmnet intervene was “progressive” and would “limit” loans. That is contradictory, and shows that “progressive” does not always equate to “moving forward” or removing / adding limitations. These seems to contradict what I put above, and that’s intentional. The point is that either side can call “progressive” and “conservative” what they want. The “real” effect is a different story though, and the conservative agenda is much more mis-understood than the “progressive”.

So now you can see one racial example, one economic example in the definition of the word “progressive” and “conservative” from a much more broad stand point, as each goes over both perspectives.

Since when does “Progressive” mean limitless?

        pro·gres·sive adjective \prə-ˈgre-siv\
        Definition of PROGRESSIVE
1a : of, relating to, or characterized by progress b : making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities c : of, relating to, or constituting an educational theory marked by emphasis on the individual child, informality of classroom procedure, and encouragement of self-expression
2: of, relating to, or characterized by progression
3: moving forward or onward : advancing
4a : increasing in extent or severity b : increasing in rate as the base increases
5often capitalized : of or relating to political Progressives
6: of, relating to, or constituting a verb form that expresses action or state in progress at the time of speaking or a time spoken of
7: of, relating to, or being a multifocal lens with a gradual transition between focal lengths
8: or, relating to, or using a method of video scanning (as for television or a computer monitor) in which the horizontal lines of each frame are drawn successively from top to bottom — compare interlaced

          Libby:

You don’t quite follow the points I put above.

Since when does “progressive” mean “progrss”

Must be in the Libby dictionary. “progressive” policies for home loans meant “removing limitations” which private companies had against low income low credit loans.

Progressive business wise in the old days could have meant, allowing for slaves to be “progressively” allowed as opposed to “conservatively” (as in the use is not prohibited, and conservative would mean use would be “conserved”)

Don’t act like a moron today. My purpose was exactly contradictory to the definition of “progressive” due to the fact that “progressive” politics, is whatever a “progressive” politician says it is, not the dictionary definitions you put above.

That was the point. And your argument is moot.

As far as being called a moron:

            Definition of MORON

1 (usually offensive): a person affected with mild mental retardation

“moving forward or onward : advancing” which in the case of slavery, could mean on a business front “advancing” the numbers of slaves.

“increasing in extent or severity” <— removing a limitation. You can't see that's the same, it is. Moreover, connected to my last one, Progressing forward in Slavery is quite a possibility with progressive policies. Of course it could also go the other way. THIS WAS MY POINT in my last post. Flew right over your head because you like to argue with me.

The original posting was that calling people Progressive was considered somehow a slur on this site and the writer respectfully disagreed.

You, on the other hand, had to argue with him. Seriously, “tear me apart???” Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Then he showed that conservative was a negative light.

I replied with both sides. Therefore, he was not respectful in a true sense. When you balance an equation, and then state the other side’s conservative ideas have held us back, that’s a negative on conservative, much like the negative on progressive.

          And YOU replied to me.

Tear you apart, with a “hahahahaha” following. Well now, I’m so rude for coming out with “hahahaha” in the past. Good job there ;)

As for the comment Libby: You have not won a single debate against me. So yes, I would tear you apart, in more ways than one, and yes, I would fight back.

I, on the other hand, am comfortable with myself, my status in life, and I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else.

As far as I’m concerned, the only thing you have won is the battle of the bully. I’m not interested in that battle. You can have it.

Something I feel is funny about your crap:

You stating you have nothing to prove to me, shows you have something to prove. People who have nothing to prove, don’t say they have nothing to prove. It’s a teenagers quote.

Further to the point: How would you have any idea I don’t like being a “loser”. Let me clue you in on my background a bit:

My family was messed up growing up. My father was abusive. My mother was neglectful. My siblings figured they wouldn’t intervene and would leave to better things, or that they would fight with them every day to try and make things better. I mean really, who would hug an abusive dad and tell them everything was going to be ok? You certainly wouldn’t I can tell that much.

If I was about winning, like many are when they have been traumatized I would have fought my dad and mom every day.

You know what I did Libby? And you know why I take that bullshit personally that you say? I didn’t CARE about my opinion. My mom is so insane she gives love in coupons. It’s the only thing she’s ever given her kids. Well, then I started giving them to her. I invited her over for dinner to my house, and I cooked for her. Of course, I started by going to hers and allowed her to cook for me. She can’t cook for a damn. But boy howdy did I do it just to see her smile when I said it was great. We are talking a horrible mother. And then she changed. I did the things SHE wanted, not me.

My father had serious issues. He was a good guy, just needed to learn to let things go how they would go. The reason I laugh at your crap so much is that if you had a father that I did, you never would have been able to do what I did before he died, and you have the nerve to say I’m a sore “loser” and have to “win”. My whole life has been about putting other people first, regardless of my opinion or “winning”. I certainly didn’t “win” for upwards of 3 years of hell and 2 years of hard work, constantly allowing myself to be basically, in essence, wrong, every day. The family was broken. I told my dad he was the best dad. That’s all he needed to hear, what he did right. Not what he did wrong. And you imply I am about “winning”. I am about not being a “loser”. I’m about family, I’m about society, I’m about what’s best for people. And my facts show it. I only care about what is best for people, be it healthcare, be it retirement, be it the economy. But I must be some republican against women and gays according to you, a sore loser who has to be right. It’s insulting Libby, and it’s pure bull crap that you liberals tend to label us conservatives in while most insultingly calling yourselves “open minded”. Bull crap. You aren’t open minded to conservative view points. You are clueless to what they actually are.

Over the course of the first 5 years, my father was at my house nearly 3 times a week with my mom. I had a show I watched with my mom. I choked down that my father turned me into an intellectual machine. Do you know why my IQ was 156? My father was a LIBERAL who was hell bent on his son being the best. Did I mention my sister was 145 and my brother 151. This is by the time I was 5. He grilled me on intelligence. Then I taught him about life later on. I showed him what it was about. Your liberal crap nearly indoctrinated me by the time I was FIVE Libby.

I flipped him republican for fiscal ideals. Remember my story about being raised to believe FDR and Carter where the greatest? Yeah, about that, maybe this is linked to that. Maybe you should pay attention. Just some thoughts.

You see conservatives as these over powering people, judgemental, have to think they are right. What do you call a liberal obsessed with college and status? Planet and I once had a debate where I said on paper I might look worse than a Harvard graduate, but let me tell you, I’m part of a business that kicks the tar out of Harvard graduates, and I’m actually hiring in a recession.

And I won’t tell my daughter that college means anything to do with who she is. Tell me that people in Seattle and Liberal states think people who didn’t go to college are just as good as those who don’t. Tell me that lie and I’ll slap you across the face, nothing to do with you being a woman. It has everything to do with the insult, the bull crap you liberals put out there about us conservatives. Stereo types. Sore losers? Have to be right? You don’t know a damn thing about “conservative”. With my father, I told a man who had done horrible things that he was great, I humbled myself. It didn’t matter if I won. That’s why people with your mindset fail with relationships with their parents. They see their parents as the failure, and even when the parent is the failure, my comment is “WHO CARES, FIX IT”. By fix it I mean call yourself the wrong party if need by. Focus on the good they do.

You call me all these things. I am by no means someone who has to prove myself. I am by no means pessimistic. I hold what is due to any candidate. This is numbers to me. And it’s not to you.

To you you go crazy. You reek of social pride status. Go take a bath.

Me saying you are a right fighter has nothing to do with being a conservative. It was my personal opinion based on your actions on this blog and how you respond to me in your postings.

You have proved yourself to me, personally, as a right fighting bully. This has nothing to do with parties or politics.

I’m sorry you grew up in an abusive home. But saying that people like me fail in their relationships with their parents is presumptuous and rude. You know nothing of me or my relationship with my parents. Nor how I have overcome obstacles with them and how I’ve acted towards those that have wronged me. So keep those comments to yourself. If you want to talk about you, fine. Don’t presume to talk about me.

Further: I’m sick of you. Your methodology is crap, your insults are absurd, your intolerance of conservatives is astounding, your judgemental stereo types of conservatives is pathetically close to racism, and you think that no liberals exist who pound people into submission.

I’m in Washington Libby. You want to know how many liberal kids either go to college and live the liberal image or get beaten by their parents here?

          A metric shit ton.

You want to know how many conservatives hold those same standards?

Practically none. We don’t crush people into molds.

Bob, Does En Masse stand for “In Mess” or “In a Mess”? He obviously does not understand Progressivism as the intent of the far left to control, tax, regulate the citizens to death. They want to tell us what to eat, drink, control our healthcare, tax us to death, how we should do business, tax us to death, tax our estates, regulate all activities, tax us to death and the list goes on. That is what we are rebelling against. Thomas Jefferson said that a little rebellion now and then can be a good thing.

The poor and middle classes have had enough of the wealthiest few making decisions for the many. We have had enough of their insatiable greed. We have had enough of their lust for money and power. It stops now and the rebuilding can begin. Now we need to come together and unite as the 99% of Americans that we are. We stand for all that is good in this country. Let’s start acting like it.

WE ARE SEEING TIME AND TIME AGAIN WHERE PEOPLE LIVING IN AREAS THAT MIGHT BE AFFECTED BY FLOOD ARE SIMPLY NOT OFFERED THE POLICY. ALL OF THIS WHILE THE HOUSE MEMBERS HAVE DECIDED TO BE PAID WITNESSES TO OTHERS WORK. OUR COUNTRY IS BEEN RUN BY AN UNELECTED PERSON NAMED GROVER NORQUIST WHO HOLDS ALL THE TEA PARTY PLEDGES. NO ONE KNOWS WHO FINANCES THE TEA PARTY BUT THE BEST GUESS IS CHINA WHICH HAS SO MUCH TO GAIN BY US CONTINUING TO PAY OUR DEBT AND A GREAT DEAL TO LOSE IF WE SHOULD NOT DO SO AS THEY OWN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF OUR GOVERNMENT BONDS. THE HOUSE MEMBERS CAN’T MAKE A MOVE THAT MIGHT FURTHER AMERICA IF IT CONFLICTS WITH THEIR PLEDGE FOR FEAR THAT GROVER WILL FORCE THEM OUT OF OFFICE BY FINANCING ANOTHER CANDIDATE WHEN THEY COME UP FOR ELECTIONS. THAT MEANS MY FRIENDS WE ARE SCREWED BY OUR OWN REPRESENTATIVE BY A PERSON WHO DOES NOT EVEN LIVE IN YOUR DISTRICT NOR DID YOU ELECT TO REPRESENT YOU. You are right on Brumbaugh James. He must be just as desperate as all the other liberal/Progressives who have to shout at the top of their lungs when their arguments do not gain traction. That is why he capitalized every word. These people just can’t stand it that their beliefs are being rejected. I saw this morning that 28 major newspapers that endorsed Obama in 08 have switched allegiances to Romney this year. That includes the Des Moines Register which has been one of the more liberal papers in the country. I wonder why they are abandoning ship.

Agent, you call Brumbaugh a liberal/Progressive and you know nothing about the man. Maybe he capitalized because that’s how he types. He’s right that we really don’t know anything about Romney or where he stands on things because he has either changed his mind about it or hasn’t laid out a concrete plan to address it. He says he’ll cut loopholes, but doesn’t say which ones. The budget he has laid out is no more feasible than the one Obama proposes. He panders to the public and says what he thinks he needs to say to get elected.

Saying that is not being liberal or Progressive. It’s just the truth.

Amen, Libby! And about Romney, I remember when Glenn Beck was calling Romney a Progressive. This is back when Beck wanted either Michelle Bachmann or Rick Santorum to win the nomination. Now, he’s marching with Romney. Big shocker there. I was in a discussion at a wedding last week with the father of the bride. It’s the first time I had met him. He and his friend were talking politics of course. They are Romney supporters. I didn’t tip my hand because I’m not about to debate the father of the bride on the wedding night. But, he actually told me to go to small town precincts in Iowa and vote again because a lot of them don’t use a computer system and won’t be able to track the fact an individual voted multiple times. Ridiculous!

That is so wrong! But maybe you should try it! LOL!! I am outnumbered amongst my friends and neighbors in this part of PA, but they are convinced PA will go Blue. From their mouths to God’s ear!

BTW, Mitt called me 3 times this weekend. Once on my Colorado cell phone number and twice on my PA land line. So he is hammering away at PA & CO. But why he called me, I’ll never know!

    I think I’ll be glad when it’s all over…

Libby, There are a lot of polls out there that say PA is tied now even though historically they have been blue. The part of PA that is tied to coal are very upset with Obama & the EPA with their tactics of shutting down coal. The same is true with WV & Ohio which has substantial coal production. This is why Romney has the momentum. People are afraid for their jobs and income. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Romney pulls out several surprises in the battleground states. By the way, Obama has called my home several times and the message is nasty. Now, he wants voters to take revenge. Revenge about what? Nasty.

Way to pull the revenge comment completely out of context – “don’t boo, vote. Voting is the best revenge.” I’m sorry, I just don’t see the big deal. He meant Romney and all of his lies. So, yeah, retaliate against those lies. Don’t boo Romney, retaliate against him by voting for Obama. Seems pretty harmless to me and a waste of time to even focus on it. If the shoes were flipped, I wouldn’t think it’s a big deal. Obviously, Romney wants people voting for him, too. Which, is why he has spent more than 12 years flip-flopping on every single issue. What will be interesting is, should Romney win, which Romney will actually take the office? I’m guessing, the moderate one.

I think that will resonate better than the nasty tone of the left. Since you brought up the flip flopping issue, do you think your President has never changed his mind on any issue? Oh, that’s right, he has just “evolved” in his way of thinking.

Obama has been consistent with his message and his background proves it. Wasn’t it John Kerry who was harshly criticized by the right for being a flip-flopper? Why is it OK when it’s the right but so wrong when it’s the left? On that, the right has been consistent.

Libby, the only thing Obama has been consistent about is his “leftist” positions. That is why he is in so much trouble in this election. He is trying to take this country too far left and the country is rebelling against it. We don’t want to be a nanny state and continue the escalation of “entitlements”. The idea is to restore the country into creating real private sector jobs which will in turn create income to the government and eliminate a lot of useless government programs which create debt that we can’t live with. That is the best way to balance a budget and get the country growing again. Small business will see a brighter future and will start hiring again and think about expansion. They have not done it the past two years and they must see a reason to do it and this current government will not do it. I am a small businessman and I am still waiting to see the supposed 18 tax cuts your President said he gave. If you know what these tax cuts are and how they have been given, please enlighten me. My CPA doesn’t know where they are either.

Agent, I know you believe in what you say and it sounds great on paper. Unfortunately, the rich keep getting richer and there is no trickle down going on anywhere. The wealthiest Americans saw there income grow 17% last year! 17%!! Where did that money go? Not into creating jobs. It’s being used to make MORE money for the wealthy. So until we even the playing field, the middle class and small business doesn’t have a chance.

Actually Libby, what we have had going on is the Middle Class getting poorer (average decline is $4,300 per household). Businesses, large and small have not been creating jobs because the business environment is so bad and they are not going to expand and hire until the government changes. We need tax reform and we need a government who will encourage business, not penalize them like this administration is doing. If we cut out the loopholes, institute a fair or flat tax and have reasonable regulation and dump most of the EPA, businesses would start to think positive again. I know you think the rich are evil, but they also employ a lot of people. Virginia has turned to Republican because of the defense industry and sequestration right around the corner. If that happens, it is estimated 700,000 jobs will be lost. We don’t need that kind of unemployment on top of what we have already.

I ot none of that crap from either side in IL. Maybe they did call and I just didnt answer the phone. Either way, tomorrow I will know which direction I need to go. Small Town Central IL or stay in Chicago Burbs.

Last year September, our lovely Gov Quinn passed Workers Cop reform. His reform chased a specialty carrier out of the state which cost me over $25K in Comm. Went to renew my Non Red Indiana Lice yesterday and there was a note from IN Gov that, because Quinn raised Non Resident Fees for IN Agents, they are raising mine to over $270.00 for IL non res licenses.

FFA, It doesn’t sound like Indiana and Illinois are getting along very well. I don’t know how any neighboring state could get along with Illinois and what is going on there. I would imagine numerous Illinois businesses have fled the state to escape the onerous taxes and regulation. No wonder you have seen a drop off of your business. We don’t seem to have the same problem here in Texas. Companies are flocking here from Blue States because we have no State Income Tax, passed Tort Reform, have a good business environment and actually offer tax abatements if a company locates here. It is too bad Illinois has the opposite attitude. They will pay a price for their stance.

There are some good smaller towns in the Peoria area. Not to mention, some decent golf courses, too. I grew up in P-town. My folks and sisters still live in that area so I get back every now and then. My older sister lives in Chillicothe and loves it. Not near as expensive as the Chicago Burbs over in the Peoria area. If you want to get out of IL in general, the Des Moines area continues to offer tons of opportunity for insurance professionals. Oh, and there’s some good golf here, too. You can get better pizza here, too. Not to mention, you’re always about 15 minutes from anywhere in this city. Beats the heck out of Chicago traffic.

I am familiar with Peoria. Is a nice town surrounded by small town life style. Lost a $60K account down there because of Gov Quinns Comp Reform.
Wisconsin has lots to offer too. Gas at least $0.30 cheaper, lower, much lower property taxxes, more house for the money, no sales tax on Food Items. Many more incentives on the upside including a Gov that can balance a budget. Says he is working towards getting rid of Badger Care which will help that state out quite a bit. Of course, if oBama care sticks, they are ready to change that name from Badger Care to OBama Care. How has the state of Iowa prepared to have their citizens screwed by OBama Care? Have yet to hear anything out of Quinn on that issue.

Well, it is official FFA. MSNBC called the election for Obama before the polls opened this morning so there was no point in excercising our Constitutional right to vote. Oops! Dixon,NH was the first polls to open. In 2008, they voted 15-6 in favor of Obama. This time, they voted an even number for each. Looks like the saviour lost his 9 vote margin. If the rest of the state trends the same, NH may be added to the fold for Romney. There is no doubt with all that is going on, Obama’s forces will try to steal this one if they can. Philly had several precincts kick the Republican observers out and a judge had to issue an order to get them back in. Other places have pre-checked Obama in the machine and had to be fixed. A Black Panther showed up again and was allowed to stay as long as he left his billy club behind. These are the kind of people we are dealing with. And they have the gall to say Republicans are trying to suppress the vote. What a crock.

Hence my comment, “You can get better pizza here (meaning Des Moines), too (rather than in Peoria and the small towns that surround it).” I mean, seriously Agent, you want to argue about pizza symantics? You live in Texas, just trust me. Up here, Chicago wins, then Des Moines, then Peoria – at least from my experience. Now, I’ll really confuse you and tell you the best ribs are in the Quad Cities – Jim’s Rib Haven. Probably a lot of Black Panthers there, though. So, you might be intimidated from trying their BBQ.

Forgive me Planet for being part of the vast right wing conspiracy that clings to their guns and religion and part of the fly over part of the country that doesn’t really matter. We have very good pizza here as well and many of the pizza places are owned by people who moved down from the Blue States to escape from all the taxes and burdens they had up there. We also have the best ribs anywhere made at the famous Country Tavern. I have eaten ribs all over the country and no one is their equal. As far as your comment on the newspapers, I think it is simply that they woke up and smelled the coffee and realized they had been backing the wrong guy and needed a fresh start. I actually watched Fox News and Fox Business last night. I heard Karl Rove talk about taking Ohio and running the table when clearly that wasn’t going to happen. Even the Fox Decision Room said, “there simply isn’t enough Republican raw vote out there.” Fox Business asked about a possible recount. Then, Lou Dobbs was speaking against early voting (of course, it’s tough to suppress that vote). I just have to point this out because it is even more apparent Fox News lives in some alternate reality. Bring on more Benghazi conspiracy and talks of impeachment, I’m sure they are coming.

Totally a joke, but maybe not, but around 11:00 last night I was wondering if Clint Eastwood was cussing at a chair somewhere. I also tweeted Sean Hannity about the referendum he promised his listeners. He told me and evidently Agent, it was a done deal. So did Rush Limbaugh. Glenn Beck said God was putting Romney in the driver’s seat. Will the Fox Newsians finally admit they are being misled?

OPINION: What ought to pain Republicans most about Barack Obama’s victory is that 2012 was entirely winnable for them. In European elections over the past few years, voters have thrown out leaders who were in charge during the worst of the financial crisis, whether those leaders deserved the blame or not. Economic indicators in the United States, where an unemployment rate of 8 percent is highly correlated with defeat for the incumbent party, pointed in the same direction. Obama himself had proven a disappointment to many of his former supporters, going from a beloved symbol of generational and social change in 2008 to a detached and remote figure, with limited ability to touch an emotional chord in the electorate.

That Mitt Romney lost nonetheless is in part a tribute to his own weaknesses as a candidate. The Obama campaign put Romney on the defensive early about his work at Bain Capital, and left him there. The Republican nominee made any number of horrendous gaffes. He ran a disastrous GOP convention. He never found a way to talk about himself or his agenda in a way that middle class voters could relate to.

But even a clumsy candidate might have beaten Obama if not for a simple factor that could not be overcome: the GOP’s growing extremism. The Republican strategy of making the election a referendum on the president’s handling of the economy was perfectly sound. The problem was that the Republican Party couldn’t pass the credibility test itself. For many voters disenchanted with Obama, it still was not safe to vote for his opponent.

This failure began with the spectacle of the extended primary season, which was dominated by candidates with views far outside the political mainstream. Rick Santorum rejected the separation of church and state. Newt Gingrich challenged the notion of judicial supremacy. Michele Bachmann claimed the government had been infiltrated by radical Muslims. Donald Trump refused to recognize the validity of Obama’s birth certificate. Rick Perry wanted to take down more parts of the federal government than he could successfully name. In the debates, the country saw the GOP talking to itself and sounding like a bizarre fringe party, not a responsible governing one.

Romney is not a right-wing extremist. To win the nomination, though, he had to feign being one, recasting himself as “severely conservative” and eschewing the reasonableness that made him a successful, moderate governor of the country’s most liberal state. He had to pass muster with his party’s right-wing base on taxes, immigration, climate change, abortion, and gay rights. Many of his statements on these issues were patently insincere, but that was hardly reassuring. Romney’s very insincerity and flexibility made it improbable that he would stand up to the GOP’s hyper-partisan congressional wing once elected any more than he had during the primaries.

Romney’s pandering to the base made it possible for the Obama campaign to portray him as a right-wing radical from the start of the campaign. Fear that he didn’t have the base locked down kept Romney from moving smoothly to the center once he had secured the nomination. It further encouraged his choice of Paul Ryan, a popular figure with the Tea Party. And when Romney tried, much too late, to move closer to the center, Republican Senate candidates, like Todd Akin in Missouri and Richard Mourdock in Indiana, kept popping up with disgusting reminders of the GOP’s retrograde views on gender issues. For women, Latinos, and young voters tempted to abandon Obama, the old Romney might have been a plausible alternative. The new Romney, fettered by a feverish GOP, was too risky a choice. According to exit poll results, Romney won men as expected, but lost among women by 11 points—too large a gender gap to be overcome.

Already, today – my first day back, got three life prospects chatted up on this very issue (they are not happy with the election results) and have peaked interest in looking at a self funded for 25 employees.

Az was awesome! Wild Horse Pass Ranch out in Chandler AZ.
Was chatting up the guide on the river rafting trip and he says
“no wonder why my insurance rates are so high”. I explained to him that this group of agents was the reason his rates are not higher. I, as an agent, dont turn a profit for the company, I dont get to go. Was surprised to fighure out I have one of the lowest Loss Ratios (21% on a $1.2M book) of most in the company. Left feeling pretty good. That could have been you in the raft with me Cap Planet. Or maybe that was you sitting by the camp fire trying to order a pizza at 12:30am by the fire. If it was, had a good time with you & your spouse.
One thing for sure, I am looking forward to 2012 being in the rear view mirror.
And Agent, your right about that give a way mind set. Had to come down extremly hard just to get her to apply. She had a phone interview, then got called in. Had her orientation while I was away. For the first time in years, she is finally excited about something other then Dr Phil.
    Cant wait for 2013!!!!!!!

Good question. Honestly I think it is way to early to dicede. Too much will change between now and then. But then I suppose that is what gives us something to write about.
