I can’t believe an article this long contained absolutely no useful information past the info given in the title. Not even upset IJ, I am impressed.

We are in a era of everything must be done via the internet. As a guy I used to enjoy working on my old 1966 truck, for which I still own. My current truck you need specilized tools and with computers apart of the engine means that you no longer can work on your car in the garage. The state of California requires that if you are under the age of 18 you can get your driver’s license, but it has restrictions. You do not get a unrestricted license until you reach the age of 18. Teens are waiting until 18 to get thier licenses, so that they do not have the under 18 restrictions. This report is not surprising.

As a kid I remember gapping and changing the plugs, fixing the points, changing the oil and air filters and doing so many other basic maintenance items to the car with my Dad. It was fun and satisfying. No can do anymore with all these new regulations and computers needed to work on cars. Kinda sad.

Me too. About all I can do now is change the oil, filters & plugs (pre-gapped, of course!). Miss those days.

“There is some suggestive evidence that Internet contact is reducing the need for personal contact,” he said.

The evidence is only suggestive? What planet y’all on? All my hatchlings want to do is play Maddin Football on their SwampBox 360 with their school pals. Back in the day, we’d be rollin around with our pals PLAYIN football.

    Go Gators!

I have noticed a sharp increase in Bike Traffic in my neck of the woods. Lots on foot too. Half the time, I even walk the 1.5 miles to work.

I don’t could it be that the insurance rates are making it unaffordable for young men?

The youngsters are now seeing mass transit as a cheap mode of transportation. Plus most educated young people are stuck working retail type jobs due to the older folks working longer. When all the white heads clear out, the car industry will be back in action as the younger folk will have some more income. In the mean time, which carrier is going to invent riders insurance for people using mass transit.

I would definitely prefer taking public transportation to work if I could find a direct route.

I never drive into the City (Philadelphia)- much cheaper to take the bus and the EL than pay to park.

Plenty of people I know over 50 take public transportation back and forth to work. Stewardship of the Earth and all that.

I know that Women had safer driving records for years, not sure how that’s calculated, but I would like to know if there is an updated stat since cellphone have become so widely used. Surely the gabbers must be crashing more.

I’ve read other reports that say that the safety gap between young men and young women has narrowed significantly. Not surprising.

This means more and worst wrecks on the highways and since men subsidize women’s inusrance premiums men shall pay more for auto insurance.

Do you know how stupid that sounds? More and worse wrecks because more women are driving? Women have safer overall driving experience than men do, that’s why men’s premiums are higher. You’re only subsidizing your own bad driving habits. Welcome to the year 2012, Bill.

Bill, don’t be ridiculous. Men only subsidize women’s premiums in health insurance.
