To support this spirit of generosity that has come to define our company, Liberty Mutual will contribute up to half a million dollars to the American National Red Cross on behalf of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. We will donate $250,000 immediately; additionally, we will offer a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $250,000, on any employee donations toward all Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Tower Group Companies, founded in New York City, saw many of our producers, policyholders and employees affected by Sandy. In providing relief to our most severely affected employees, Tower raised donations internally and supplemented the fund, granting nearly $40k to those employees. Externally, Tower is donating an additional $60k to the following local charities in New York, Long Island and New Jersey: robinhood.org; mccormickfoundation.org; sandynjrelieffund.org.

My home was severly flooded by “Sandy” with 7 feet of storm water in my basement. Unfortunately Nationwide Insurance, with whom I have “Elite Homeowners” & “Broad Water Backup Rider,” has denied my claim. Yet their president uses a photo op and claims “to make every effort possible to help the victims of this terrible disaster work toward recovery.”
