Just what the economy needs! Tell me why unions are good again?

Yes I took history. Unions were started to stop the abuse of children being used in the labor force. They’ve outlived their usefulness in my opinion. We have no hockey this season and basketball last season. Our education system is all screwed up because of unions. Now they are threatening to strike and mess up shipping and delivery of vital items.

Unions aren’t good! They’ve gotten away from their original purpose.

Obama should fire thier asses like Reagan did with the ATC. The are vital to economic activity and should not have that kind of power. I know a guy that has a “low show” job in Port Newark….why? seniority. Also because they can.

Obama will remain silent on the unions because they are good for him.

It might be nice to know what the issues are before forming an opinion. Of course you don’t get that kind of depth from the IJ.

Let me guess: more wages and better working conditions. Dismantle the union, let the employees keep what they pay in union dues, and put in an employee lounge. Strike averted.

The issues are known as verified by both parties in the Long Beach/LA strike. 800 clerical office employees making an average of $41/hr and $165,000+ with benefits. Some well over $200,000 per year. I can hire several extremely well trained CSR’s in my part of Texas for that. Their strike was all about protecting union representation and the succession of their jobs. Agent 2 is right. Fire the bunch and replace them as Reagan did.
