Okay, let’s say we believe this article. The federal government should quickly print off $117 trillon dollars and invest it into AIG. Then in a few short years we’ll get our 12% back and that will cover our current national debt and pay us back. Oh wait, maybe we really didn’t make 12% like they’re trying to tell us.

Hot off the Wall Street Journal Press FFA. I prefer to believe them over the Huffington Post, don’t you. The gist of the article is that States that allow taxpayers and employers to keep more of their earnings without an income tax have significantly better growth rate in the private sector GDP(59% versus 42%) over the past 10 years. They increased the number of jobs by 4.9% while jobs in the rest of the states declined by 2.6%. States without an income tax increased population 5.5% and other states lost 1.3% in population. As government seizes more of people’s income through taxes, it spends more on things it doesn’t need. It overpays government employees, creates needless departments, wastes money and contributes to corruption. This is all easy for Conservatives to see, but I am sure Libby & Planet will not see the logic. We are going to get a real taste of higher taxes next year and it is sure to slow things down more than they are now.

Since we are talking about stock buyback, did anyone see the article on GM being anxiouls about the government selling their GM stock. It seems GM doesn’t want to be known as Government Motors anymore and their stock is worth about half of what it was at the start of the year. Oops! If the government sells the hundreds of millions of shares of GM, they will take a net loss of $12 Billion and we are hosed yet again. According to the President, after he saved the auto industry, it has come “Roaring” back. Not! The only one of the big three doing well is Ford and they took no bailout.

I look for Obama to feel like he has reason to take away our guns now. Pierce Morgan (that dimwit from UK) has already tweeted that now we have to have tougher gun laws.

Don’t you think there should be some limits, though? This was a 20 year old kid, not even old enough to drink, that killed all these people with an assault weapon. At the least, I don’t think it should be so easy to get these kinds of guns. And besides infringing on your rights, what does one do with an assault rifle besides kill people? Nobody has been able to answer that question for me.

NO, Libby, I don’t think there should be controls. No law is going to prevent a person from doing something like the shooter did today. Laws have never prevented something like this happening. Every school in the U.S. needs to have personnel trained in protecting their kids with guns. If we were lucky enough to be able to pull every evil person that shot an innocent bunch of people out in the street and televise their own death by shooting to the entire world maybe so many people wouldn’t be “mentally ill enough” to do something like this over and over again. I realize some of them shoot themselves, but I think the mothers that use post partem depression as an excuse to murder their children should be hung on the courthouse steps for everyone to watch. Not many would want to feign mental illness if they saw much of that. I know, you think I’m harsh, adn I’m a woman, not a man (surprise).

Perplexed, many of the high schools already have Security on the premises and students have to go through metal detectors when they arrive. It looks like that will have to be expanded to Jr. High and Elementary now, all at the expense of the taxpayer. That still might not prevent the nut from getting in and doing what this one did, but if they hire off duty cops, there might be a chance to stop someone from committing mass murder.

Perplexed, we had a case in Texas a few years back where a mother was suffering from post partem depression so she drowned her kids in the bathtub. They put her in the mental asylum and she probably won’t see the light of day again. Another mother in South Carolina drove her car into a lake with her two babies strapped into the car seats and drowned them and then reported the kids had been kidnapped. Not sure what happened to her, but she wanted to be with her boyfriend and the kids were in the way. How screwed up is that?

I know Agent, about the “depressed” woman that drowned her 5 kids. If she had been hung or drowned herself, in public, I feel like not that many more women would have later used the depression excuse. Like I said, hang her from the courthouse lawn so everyone can see what happens when you drown you kids! We just read today about a cardiologist that stabbed his two young kids to death (20 times each), then spent 4 years in prison and he’s about to be released and he wants to live a normal life. he doesn’t deserve to live at all. He should have been stabbed. Then the next guy would be so eager to do something like this. Evil has to be dealt with. i dont’ care if you are depressed, you don’t deserve to live after you take another’s life. the life of children or babies isn’t that important any more though. A result of abortion in my opinion.

There will always be illegal guns (see south side of Chicago). It is the legal guns that will keep the illegals in check.

Yes, FFA, if it is your permit, it is your responsibility to keep it safe and secure. So, how do you both keep it safe and secure on school grounds 100% of the time and yet have instant access at the moment it becomes necessary to use it for defense? Just saying it is the problem of the individual does not answer the question.

I suppose if I were to get a C&C permit, I would use a side holster under my arm. Maybe a leg holster like cops do. Tuck it under the pant leg and no one would even know its there. Saftey on. No bullets in the chamber. Magazine full.

My shot gun, I just put it in the case and carry it like my brief case. But I dont need a C&C permit for that. I dont keep it loaded. I dont even keep it at my house with the little ones running around. I know exactly where its at and only one other person knows. I’m not sure my gr Kids even know it exists.

Many in this country don’t believe that pure evil exists. I believe it does and we also have a very angry society who is mad at something all the time. Take an individual who lost his job, had a marriage fail and he was already unbalanced, that is a recipe for something like this to happen. Drugs also lead to a lot of violent acts. These states that legalized pot are going to have a lot of problems I suspect. They always lead to trouble.

Hard for them to understand even though they were in their late teens when it happened. It will affect them for the rest of their lives. I take every opportunity to praise the law enforcement that worked on his case. Round Rock PD, Williamson County Sheriff, FBI, Texas Rangers, DA. A teacher may have been able to do something unless he was targeted first. It is more likely that a teacher down the hall might have responded and shot the perp before he got off too many shots. We never had to worry about this when I was in school. I fear for my grandkids because schools should be safe havens and now they are not. Columbine was the previous worst example, but this one is even worse.

The use of automatic weapons does not give the teacher down the hall time to react before many students are already dead. And good luck with your handgun against a determined shooter with an automatic weapon.

JS, you’re right it’s not that simple, but people need to be able to defend themselves and especially the little ones in their charge. I have many friends that hunt and they are proficient in the use of all types of guns and bows. They are adamant about safety and they could definitely take someone like the shooter today out. In some states you wouldn’t find that kind of citizen, but in our state you have many that are capable of protecting themselves and others around them.

I too know many people who are proficient with all types of guns. However when a tragedy like this occurs, it is very likely the first person to be targeted would be the teacher in the class room. This is even more likely if it is known that the teacher has a gun. How long before a nearby teacher fully understands what is happening? Then, how long to acquire the gun, figure out where this is happening and get there. Remember, the gunman is capable of firing dozens and dozens of rounds while this is going on. And what about the children in the classroom where the teacher just left. They are now alone and without protection or adult guidance.

I believe, as bad as this sounds, we need to have locks on outside doors and classroom doors. Along with bullet proof glass, we can protect children but what a horrible school experience are we creating. Anything short of that can easily be defeated and hand guns are not the answer.

Perplexed, have you ever seen the show Criminal Minds? It is one of my favorites since the FBI unit tracks down and catches serial killers etc. They profile them and give the info to law enforcement. Many profiles are similar. It goes – We believe these crimes are being committed by a man between the age of 25-35, who may have been abused as a child, has few social skills and is a loner and may have been bullied at school and may have a history of mental illness. It goes on from there, but you get the gist of it. Many of these traits are common to killers.

Yes, Agent, I’ve seen Criminal Minds and it is interesting. Often too upsetting for me to watch though:) There are so many people taking antipsychotic drugs and those drugs have extreme side affects. Doctors know it and so do the companies that manufacture them, but they continue to drug up our kids. There are so many young boys in school now taking ADHD meds, when what a good many of them need is a mom and DAD at home spending time teaching them morals and a belief in their Creator. No one wants to answer to God any more. we saw how the Dem’s booed and hissed mention of God. I believe it is the root cause of what is wrong today. Broken families, celebrities glorifying creating babies and adopting babies with one parent (they don’t want a man in their life). Men are depicted as idiots and goof balls on just about every television show on now. There is a strong woman character and the man is an irresponsible goof off if he is in the picture at all. I’m sick of it. Sick of anti man emails that are circulated. Dads are so important in a child’s life – good dads. So are moms. I’m not down playing the role of mothers, just lamenting the rise of women’s lib and the fall of the family.

Yes, I saw some of the coverage at lunch. I feel for our fellow blogger CT since she is from there. Hope there were none of her relatives that were victims. Apparently, the shooter was 24 and who knows what motivated him to murder all those innocent kindergarten kids and teachers? Most of these guys have a serious screw loose kind of like that dude in the Gifford shooting. There is sure some left wing media person who will say it is Tea Party or we should just confiscate all the guns etc. The thugs/crazy people will always be able to get guns on the black market. I don’t know what gun laws they have in Ct, but if they are like Chicago, there is more violence in strict gun law states than the Conceal and Carry states.

In addition to the things you mentioned, we should confiscate all guns from non-taxpayers including all the illegals. All the law abiding people can retain theirs for protection. The crime rate would fall 50% in the first year if we canvassed all the ghettos in the major cities. FFA would appreciate a thorough clinsing of Chicago.

I an truly sorry about all of those innocent children that died due to a sick 20 year old boy. I wonder what was done to him as a child to bring him to this point? Do i agree that we should do something for our children to be safer? Absolutely!!! I remember in my H.S. in New York we had 3 security gaurds at all times walking the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. The main entrance had a security guy there at all times. No metal detectors. everone walkin in the door had to sign in at the registars office. And yes, the security guards were actually retired NYPD and ex-Marines, Army guys. Our doors could not be opened on the outside. You could only open our doors from the inside of the school.
We live in a society were i hear people say “Oh that will never happend were i live!” it’s safe here……that’s why i pay so much for my taxes on property and school district! Yeah RIGHT lady….think again. This was just a sick act!
And yes, the schools should be SAFER to prevent certain things to happen.
But, then i think about other COUNTRY’S? What would they do? Well, there are bombings, gun fire……….etc. This kid would have been shot coming out for sure. The society that we live in now does show alot more violence via TV, Movies and Video games. But hey we let our children watch this sort of stuff at all different ages. Even the drinking and driving is a HUGE problem for gods sake!

to Libby- your response is exactly what I expected. You are a real live depiction of whats wrong in this country.
Agent – great idea to take away guns from illegals and non-tax paying types. The leeches of this country that suck their life off of others. They don’t work and benefit from those that do. Send them all to that compassionate Libby so she can take care of them.

Perplexed, don’t worry about Libby. She is from or has lived in Colorado which has legalized pot smoking now. Can you just imagine how all those students at CU will party? A new study is out that confirmed that IQ is significantly decreased by pot smokers, not to mention it is a pathway to heavier drug use in the future.

Agent – I just noticed your question of 12/19 about the couple that killed my brother. His exwife got 30 yrs and her boyfriend got 40 yrs. We would have rather seen the exwife put away for 50-60 because she was the instigator. They plead out the day before the trial was to begin. I was glad that my nieces and nephew didn’t have to set and listen to the trial and see the pictures that were going to be shown. Tx Ranger and policeman helped nephew see the benefits of not going to trial. Texas EquuSearch found my brother’s body 2 weeks after he was killed. I forgot to mention the work that they did. Tim is a selfless man who helps people find closure by finding their loved ones. He has a sixth sense about criminals and with enough input from law enforcement can help solve a lot of cases. If not for them, it would have been a very long time before John was found and arrests made.

Perplexed, thanks for the info. I guess they plea bargained to keep from getting the needle. They should be very old when they get out, hopefully. There is a remedy for ending a marriage called divorce without resorting to murder. I agree that it probably was good that the nieces and nephews were spared the further trauma of the trial. I hope your family can recover and eventually the pain will subside.

Agent – The Oxygen Channel has a program about Women Killers (ugh), and they did an episode on John’s murder. I hated it, but some of my family contributed. Weird deal.
