        D:

        Stupidest reply I’ve ever seen.

Thank YOU Mr. Scientist D would be my reply for Wayne.

Your argument here seems to be that he can’t say it’s not climate change, therefore it could be climate change (Therefore it’s possible that what you believe is correct argument, and can’t be proven otherwise) and therefore it exists.

This is the same argument the religious zealots you hate so much use regarding God. You can’t prove he doesn’t exist!!

*rolls eyes* D, grow the hell up.

I learned in my science classes many years ago that a theory is only as good as the predictions it makes. As far as I know, man made global warming hasn’t made one single verifiable prediction. However, it is the single greatest hindsight theory ever reported. Why the US drought? Global warming. Why the three hurricanes in 1995? Global warming. Why the beatle infestations in the US? Global warming. Even the Japan sunami was attributed to global warming (oh, I forgot, climate change). This theory is amazing!! It can predict everything after it happens. Don’t forget,it’s leading proponent at NASA, Dr. Hansen, was touting global cooling in the 70s. At the end of the day, if a theory doesn’t predict a single thing, it’s garbage.

Here’s a thought, how about jobs, the deficit, spending, lack of a budget? Maybe Mr. Obama can concentrate on these extremely important items in this term. He ignored them in the first term, unless it was to create some fake green job with multi million dollar grants to companies that went belly up not long after getting the money.

Also, what are they going to do to enforce “climate issues” in other countries?

We outsource a majority of manufacturing to China, who is the largest offender. Ironic huh.

“We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations,” the president said.

What he should have said, “We will respond to the threat of an economic collapse, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.”

I forsee another Solyndra. I’m not sure if Barry is the right man for this job anyways.

This is a guarantee to ship more and more high paying jobs to China and India who are building new coal fired power plants every week. And I’m sure all those plants will be cleaner burning than anything we would have built here, just look at Bejing. And I’m also sure all carbon emissions will stay in China and India causing cliamte change only there, not here because carbon dioxide doesn’t freely move across the planet, right? We’ll just have fewer high paying jobs here and plummet the entire country into poverty. I guess that’s part of the President’s jobs plan.

Who knows what forms of life we will evolve into or will come after us. We are stewards of the planet. If you conservatives need to, think of your great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren as future stockholders, owning the planet. You need to do what you can to increase the value of the stock. Quit dumping your chemicals into the ground, water, and air. Most of you don’t throw everything into the garbage, right? You do recycle some? So, you don’t deny that science and benefit to future generations. Just like most of you yell at your teenagers to clean up their rooms, scientists worldwide our yelling at us to pick up ours. You can deny all you want but it doesn’t change the fact that we do have an impact on the environment. It nurtures us, we should do the same to it. Don’t Be A Menace to Society While Spilling Your Emissions into The Atmosphere…yo!

I also agree with Captain’s points here.

Climate change is an issue. Post grad brother talks about it often. What he fails to see is that conservatives are not for recycling any less than democrats. This is again, painting with a broad brush, or as he said before “mop”.

They are against the government putting in place “cap and trade” which would have disastrous results. I might add, republicans have talked about how to handle the issue. The problem is we don’t know how.

I also should note that just becauase republicans are against Obama’s ideas, it does not make us against helping climate change.

Yet again, you label the right. Swing and a miss. There are some out there who are republican and don’t believe climate change is as extreme as others believe. There are very few that don’t believe in climate change at all.

Remember the words of Obama’s former Chief-of-Staff, Emanuel, “Never let a crisis go to waste”? Translated, they mean use every crisis as a way to further control and tax the population (masses?) and the global warming “crisis” (which may be more of a natural phenomenon with only nominal influence by man, is but one example. While the country’s economic crisis comntiues to fester, Obama and his people look for ways to divert attention from them by taking on more social and large issues. Instead of governing and taking care of today’s business, they continue to campaign by looking to lofty issues in an ever present effort to secure a legacy. They forget, or overlook the fact that by continuing to give only periodic, cursory attention to the deep financial problems we have, their legacy will be a bankrupt nation that no amount of taxation could save. Moreover, after we sent a lot of our manufacturing jobs to places like China, we now look at their carbon footprint knowing that we can do nothing about it. Yet while the US has markedly decreased its carbon footprint, the government wants to saddle what’s left of our industrial base with even more stringent environmental regulations that will surely cost more jobs and more money, thus perpetuating our weak economy. Worse yet, it seems that the environmentalists and their politicians want to cure the global problem overnight. (I guess the current pace is too slow for them.) And, the track record so far has been miserable, given the bankruptcy of connected companies that received government handouts to create green products. The final kicker is that most politicians would have us believe that the costs of all this regulation and social engineering is largely paid by business and corporation taxes (and, of course, they should pay even more). But in truth, they try to mask the reality that it is we, the people, who pay all of those taxes and costs in the price of every product or service we use, and that’s in addition to the direct taxes we working folks also pay. It seems our government has declared and has maintained a kind of econmic war on its citizens.

You are right Rusty. Instead of dealing with the debt crisis and the out of control spending and expansion of government which is sure to bankrupt the country, they spout off on the dangers of greenhouse gases and in my view just want to make some money on the carbon exchange. We had numerous examples of what a failure the green energy program has been despite a couple of billion poured into it. I really don’t think we need energy made from algae, switchgrass and cow dung. What we do need is to develop our own energy to keep from being blackmailed by the Shieks and Chavez. We have more energy reserves than the entire Middle East and most of it is waiting to be tapped. Just think of the jobs it would create and tax revenue to the government to help with the deficit. How about approving Keystone now Mr. President? Nebraska wants you to do it, the unions want you to do it and the American People want you to do it.

Balance. Learn it. And on the right, people don’t believe the world is flat, and they certainly did not propogate or pander to that belief.

As I once pointed out to you, Catholicism lead many areas in science, including the discovery of the big bang theory. That’s a concept that came from the far right, no matter how much you try to say “oh, they were radical!!! they were totally shunned by the Catholic church!” as you said before. Whenever it’s a conservative person or idea that does good things it’s a liberal base in your head. Whenever it’s a democrat person or idea who does bad things, or part of a democrat program that does bad things, it was a republican plan. Becasue you feel he isn’t a threat and you can make him look like a fool. I’ll be honest, Agent doesn’t do well at talking sometimes. He gets the concepts somewhat right, but the facts wrong. You like that. It’s good for arguing a political point. It’s not good for common sense. Those who you reply to are always that type. Me though, nah. I go off of fact that shoot yours so far out there that you don’t stand a chance. Debate my comments. I dare you. Read my comments and explain yourself.

Half the stuff you post here is just plain out of line, and you target your comments to the uneducated. Then you label Fox News, label republicans, call everyone chicken littles, fear mongers, etc, and you ignore the one person who takes your facts for a spin, and leaves you dumb founded.

I’m not a bully. You may be. I’m not entirely sure if you’re plain indoctrinated or a manipulator. Master or slave? Maybe both?

I told you to at least stay consistent in your own posts, that we don’t have to follow a dictatorship, and that that would be idiotic, and I told you that you were being a hypocrite. Hypocrite is not an insult when used with items which show that it is being used in the context of the word. Do you have a problem with being a hypocrite? Do you have a problem with it being idiotic to go down a path that would lead to dictatorships?

Don’t talk to me like your words are roses. Don’t fake talk to me. If there is one thing us republicans do well, it’s actually talk like a human talks, rather than a fabricated human being who tries to appear like a human being, or rather how they believe one should appear.

I for one love freedom of expression.

You don’t. Such hypocricy Planet. You never will debate someone more capable than I. I suggest you just throw in the towel, put your big boy pants on, and make sure you know what you’re talking about before making a comment, rather than stating the person who is pointing out your crap is a bully.

Just look at your comments! Accept Obama or leave! Stop worrying about what Obama does! That’s chicken little! Let the government take over healthcare! Trust them! Follow whatever Obama says!

      And one last comment:

I think you would do well to keep track of my comments.

I actually do, when someone isn’t being absurd, insult the bad effects of religion.

I took a swipe above when talking to D. D was calling Wayne stupid. Just because he made it sound prettier doesn’t mean his intent was not to insult Wayne. It’s even more smart ass due to that. You take the same indirect methods to insulting on this forum, and even try to get others to join in on some “humor” as you call it to make them look up tight. How bully is that?

Back on topic though: I pointed out a common argument from religious folk when they go to far. The you can’t prove God does not exist therefore he does exist. To add some humor here, think South Park with the Giant Spaghetti Monster.

If you took two second to look at your comments you would see my issue with you is your extremity. You’d also notice that Agent and I do not agree often.

      Examples:

I don’t like the pentagon and military spending budget. I’ve pointed out it should be cut in half.

I do think a public plan should exist, for the lower class. I do not like the government breaking the rules to get around that though. I also think this plan should be restricted to the lower class. It would keep the incentive to work. This would be a balance of both plans. The damage I am worried about comes in the maximum amount of available funds to pay out. You can have more funds in a private system. If it disincludes the poor, then we should just do a cutoff income method to get the poor covered. I’ve said it before, Agent does not agree.

I do agree with Obama’s potential mandate for the 401k contributions, if it were used in conjunction with social security reform with some of Paul Ryan’s plan.

This is balanced. My problem with Obama, is that he is NOT balanced, and it’s also my problem with you. Whenever something could be considered liberal, you back it.

I would say on the scale I’m much more liberal than Agent, FFA, or Sargent. They may just have experience I don’t. Who knows. But I don’t make comments to them like you do. You though, have no clue what liberal and conservative are.

And It’s not a rant. It’s relevant information. You’re just clueless as to why it’s relevant.

Bottom line, most my comments in this post have been strictly pointing out you’re wrong. That is not insulting.

So as Patti said: Why not direct my comments? You’re lying here and you know it.

We’ve all seen how you act Planet. You reply back to Libby, and I don’t think anyone on this post would call me more extreme than her with insults.

You aren’t using logics, and in these posts I am. You’re doing a good job of trying to do the image of the high road. But you’re not high road. Mocking a guy you disagree with, and his sources, and his sense of humor, and getting people on the bandwagon is hardly professional.

Attention everyone! Opinion needed. Captain says my comments aren’t worthy of response.

Your comment, Captain which you believe is worthy of response:

“Government is “We the people”. We elected him. He is our President. You don’t like it, leave. Don’t just pick and choose the parts of The Constitution you happen to agree with. Quit your belly aching and support The President. I always have no matter who was in office. Yes, even W. It doesn’t mean I have to agree with everything they did, but I supported them because they are fellow Americans. I can be critical and also supportive.

Amazing how many sore losers are still running around out here.”

Bottom line, don’t like it, leave, we elected him, there are a bunch of sore losers (obviously direct at the person he was talking to)

My comment, which you say is not worthy of response and is just so “insulting”

    Captain:

I’m sorry, no. Majority doesn’t rule with an iron fist.

You support minorities do you not?

We do not have to accept this president. At all. And it is our duty to fight against what he does that is wrong and attempt to stop it. We don’t follow the masses, like you, sheep”

I suppose I should have said, man! There are a bunch of sheep around here!

At least that way I wouldn’t have called YOU a sheep right Planet?

I talk in facts. You don’t. I talk like a human. You don’t.

I talk direct…You cower. You cower and won’t even state directly that you’re stating something. Let the person decide if it’s an insult or not right? Could be! Might not be!

Maybe you political ranters should just go fnd the tea-party website where you can whine together. Most of us prefer quality discussion on this type of forum. For those of us who actually read our insurance journals, we are aware that climate change is having a significant impact on the companies we represent. It doesn’t matter WHAT is causing the change, there is a change happening and we owe it to our children, grandchildren and future generations to address it. The rest of the world looks askance at the US and wonders why we don’t have factual conversations. It’s important folks…put away your stupid politics and be an American first!

Live Free, The rest of the world has been addressing climate issues. Our politics in America have caused us to put our smarts aside and we are sinking into third world mentality… Once we considered ourselves the UNITED State of America… now we are being ripped into political categories and that can only lead to failure. Our children look at each other and their world differently. My hope for the future of the USA is with the younger, less political generation. They don’t hate because talk radio tells them to hate or distort or destroy.. Try using your computer to check into the EU and how they are looking at the climate. Our Pentagon issued a paper back in 1994 about Climate Change being the Pentagon’s #1 future problem. People migrate to areas where they can not be supported when their hometowns become dustbowls or flood zones. We, in America, have mostly been insulted from such things.. We, in America, use our tax dollars to help our neighboring states.. We, in America once had respect for our fellow man and didn’t hide behind made up names on a computer screen. Read your insurance articles for more details.

“President Obama vows to tackle climate change”…now he wants to shake down the climate for change? [insert nervous laughter here]

Seriously folks, lets examine any and all proposals made by this man in proper context: Taxes already too high and he wants higher taxes; debt already out of control and he wants an unlimited debt ceiling; and, being so extremely smart(?) and wise(?) [insert images of swooning and boot-licking sheeple here]he wants control over just about everything – what an ego-maniacal control freak! And talk about greed!

Regardless of the problems the country faces, we have a President who, to name just a few:

    Pledged transparency – not happening

Pledged to reduce the debt – not happening

    Pledged bi-partisanship – no, he hasn’t been

Will not raise taxes except on “millionaires and billionaires” – yes he has

Is condescending and disingenuous to any who oppose him – yes

Takes the oath of office to uphold the Constitution and – then constantly tries to find ways to circumvent the limits placed on the executive branch and increase his own personal power

Is honest – no (unless politically expedient, of course)

So, we have a President who is the very antithesis of what a good President should be, and has all the attributes of what would make an excellent dictator….OMG, you people are done for if you go along with all this!

He probably got the thumbs down because you could say the same thing about nearly every president in recent times.
The President does not spend money, it is appropriated by Congress.
The debt ceiling was raised multiple times under all of the Presidents since Reagan.

To totally disregard “climate change” 100% is absurd….to say that science and observation don’t mean anything when it comes to “climate change” is also absurd. One the other hand…to say that “climate change” will lead to the destruction of our planet and humanity in the near future I do not believe would be accurate.

It’s like this….Most of us love nice warm sunny days…..but if we stay out too long without some protection we get a sunburn…if we get too many sunburns science shows that we could get cancer. Its about cause and effect….from the smallest to the largest scale. Don’t let someone convince you that because the sun is so nice and warm and enjoyable that you don’t need to be cautious and protect yourself. As nice at the sun is (especially on the beach with a nice beverage)…..it can still kill.

When it comes to issues like this….I will always choose to be proactive rather than reactive so as just to err on the side of caution. Just my 2 cents worth though.

Nan, I read read insurance journals as well, along with other things, like scientific journals. There is NO concordance that global warming is fact, or even that “climate change” is. There are several theories concerning climate change, but only 1 says that people are causing it. The six alternative theories are:

Bio-thermostat — rising temperatures and levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere trigger biological and chemical responses that have a cooling effect, like a natural thermostat.

Cloud formation and albedo — changes in the formation and albedo of clouds create negative feedbacks that cancel out all or nearly all of the warming effect of higher levels of CO2.

Human forcings besides greenhouse gases — mankind’s greatest influence on climate is not its greenhouse gas emissions, but its transformation of Earth’s surface by clearing forests, irrigating deserts, and building cities.

Ocean currents — global temperature variations over the past century-and-a- half and particularly the past 30 years were due to the slow-down of the ocean’s Thermohaline Circulation (THC).

Planetary motion — natural gravitational and magnetic oscillations of the solar system induced by the planet’s movement through space drive climate change.

Solar variability — changes in the brightness of the sun cause changes in cloud formation, ocean currents, and wind that cause climate to change.

The theory of climate change that most people are familiar with is commonly called anthropogenic (man-made) global warming, or AGW for
short. That theory holds that man-made greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), are the predominant cause of the global warming that occurred during the past 50 years.

In the past few years, confidence in the AGW theory has declined
dramatically. New research points to natural causes of the modern warming, and stabilizing (by some measures, falling) global temperatures have called attention to long-recognized shortcomings of the AGW theory. Tens of thousands of scientists have signed petitions expressing their dissent from the so-called “consensus” in favor of AGW.

In summary, only 1 of 7 theories implies that we are warming our climate through man-made greenhouse gases, and even it does NOT state we have the capacity to reverse the warming.
