FLIR is not new technology and the use of it by insurance carriers is very over due. I worked at explaining it to both insurance buyers and carriers 15 years ago.

Now what if they find something wrong with a property? Do they point it out to the property owner and suggest they contact someone to fix it?

If they find something wrong in the inspection but the client fails to act, would that then void the claim if there is a resulting loss? We are talking possible expensive renovations here.

Typically the carrier isn’t willing to take on the risk if they find something damning in the thermography, or won’t take on the risk until it is fixed.

These “issues” can be quite beneficial to a client when they are carrying large deductibles. Leaks, Hot Wires, and poor insulation are small costs when compared to forking out a $5,000 deductible and being inconveienced by a large claim, and the then increased costs of insurance long term.
