Every time Obama opens his mouth on an economic issue he proves how economically illiterate he truly is.

The new set of proposals would instead guarantee that employees at religious nonprofits would get access to birth control coverage without out-of-pocket costs through separate plans with insurers picking up the tab.

What the buffoon fails to understand is that passing the cost for contraception onto “the insurance companies” does not prevent the purchaser of the insurance from paying for contraceptives, it just burries the cost of contraceptives that must be paid into the insurance premiums that the buyer purchases. Is he so stupid to believe that is not what happens? Is he so stupid that he thinks most of us don’t understand this simple concept just because he doesn’t?

I had to laugh at the plan that the cost of birth control would be passed on to the insurance carriers. Gee, do you think they might just pass another rate increase on to the customer since they are absorbing the birth control expense? Do you think Hobby Lobby’s premiums will go down because this is being absorbed by the carrier? Not so much!

Hey FFA, I say we should offer free birth control to every Progressive Socialist who supported Obama so they won’t keep reproducing. That ought to even things up in a generation or so. These people have some serious mental issues. By the way, my Ravens held on to win. The wonderful power outage allowed SF to regroup and they almost pulled it off, but the Ravens were a team of destiny and I was glad they pulled it off. Little brother wasn’t very gracious after the game. I wonder how Easter Dinner will go with the family this year.

I agree with the no call at the end too. I thought Wanstead called in the last 4 plays -they all went to the same guy. where was Davis on the last 4 plays? He had a monster year and a good game. The go to guy was ignored.

None the less, it was a good game to watch.

Dave, Obama didn’t take Econ 101 in college, but opted for Socialism 101 & Keynesian Econ 101. The answer is always spend, spend, spend more and more on entitlements and give everyone a “fair” shot. Never mind that it bankrupts the country and redistributes the wealth and brings the successful down to the poverty level. It has been shown that the Middle Class has deteriorated significantly in the past 4 years. This is called “Trickle Up Poverty” and is breaking the country.

So-called “preventive care at no cost” according to Obama. Hmmmm, it seems to me that birth control is neither “care” nor “no cost”. Because it is ordered through your doctor and is administered in the form of a pill does not mean it’s healthcare. And last I heard, birth control companies were not manufacturing this for free from the goodness of their hearts. If what the Administration means is that it’s less expensive that children, well that’s a half-truth because in the long-term we need more children to become productive adults to subsidize the boomers’ retirement at 60 years of age. Meanwhile those of us in the peak of our earning capacity now can look forward to higher taxes to make interest payments for the lavish spending of the 60s generation. If my grandparents are from the Greatest Generation, my parents are from the “#*%! You, It’s Mine” generation.

This plan is no different than th ecomment Obama made during the election campaign. Just “shift” the cost to the insurance companies. Does he expewct the insurance companies to just absorb the cost?? Please. I believe that rates are still set by state regulators who do not believe in “free” insurance.
    Too bad.

I can hear his speach now telling the country that his healthcare plan isn’t working properly because “the big insurance companies, uhhhhh….. they aren’t playing by fair rules.”

It is painful to watch Obama stumble through the implementation of the PPACA with disregard for what most Americans truly want. “Offering compromise” by shifting the cost to insurance companies who in return will shift the cost directly back to the consumer is far from compromise. I’m baffled by the lack of understanding and wishful thinking that surrounds Obamacare. In its current form it simply isn’t feasible.

Hey guys… birth control is an economic issue. How many of you want your sons paying child support for 21 years because birth control pills are too costly for the girlfriend?
The whole reason our country has supported Planned Parenthood and birth control was about the country’s economics. It appears you men of today are totally clueless. ALL of the “conservatives” supported PP way back when because of the poverty in America. When you can’t choose to space your children then you can become a burdon on society. Men may have to give up sex if their girlfriends are unable to afford pills. Maybe we should also remove viagra from prescription coverage and let men pay the full cost AND any potential results. Come on guys… no birth control .. no sex! You men are going backwards.. no wonder women are choosing to raise children without neanderthal influence.

I dont even recall a special interest calling for this anyways. Just a ploy to swing womens votes. Whats the next gmic to get votes? Where will it end? Next Election – fee Hemoride cream to get the peoples vote that have a pain in their a@#?

Free Birth Controll? Really? Is anything free in this world?

Actually, Planned Parenthood was brought about to employ eugenics, and foist the concept upon the “mongrel hordes” or non-whites. Please, do your homework. Margaret Sanger was truly a sick mind (as were many who pushed eugenics), who simply wanted to lessen the number of blacks, and other minotiries.

Now, birth control pills cost next to nothing; roughly $12/month. Condoms cost anywhere between $1-$5 each. Even if one had sex 5 days per week, that is only $5-$25/week in condom cost.

If you are unable to see the difference between the costs of “paying child support for 21 years” and paying $1-$5 for a condom, YOU ARE ALREADY SO BACKWARDS YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE. I mean, how STUPID are you? 7/11 is open 24/7, and always has condoms for sale.

The only thing heading backwards here is your lack of common sense. If a person determines it’s not worth $1 to buy a rubber and avoid pregnancy, who would be daft enough to believe that same person would actually get themselves on birth control – or even remember to take it, for crying out loud?

Pregnancy is not an affliction. Pregnancy is a choice, planned or not. After all, sex was designed for a specific purpose – to propagate the species. That is the INTENDED PURPOSE of the act.

I’m sorry, but was the discussion surrounding voting rights? I think you’re a bit too literal. To think everyone that votes owns the mentality to do effectively, is pure drivel and a silly point. If everyone who voted had common sense, the federal budget would be 25% its size, laws would be cut in half, no democrat party memeber would have been placed in office for the past 100 years, no republican would have won an election in the past 20 years, and Libeterian candidates would be the ones favored in every national election.

But, if we want to talk about voting rights, it seems to me ones vote should be weighted on the amount of taxes one pays. After all, the ones paying the most amounts in taxes are the ones contributing most to government, and paying for everything.

Everyone’s votes should count. However, those who are not contributing to society as much should not hold sway over those who are doing the hard work and sacrificing their hard earned money to cover for the laggards (some – few – of whom actually have legitimate reasons for this lack of contribution).

After all, why should a junked-up crackhead, who is only taking from society, have as much input as a responsible citizen who contributes tens of thousands to state and federal governments through taxation?

My point was not about voting rights, but living by the Constitution as it is written or making our own interpretations. The Constitution does not require anyone to have the mentality to vote effectively. That was my point. Don’t like it, have it changed.
Right or wrong, no one person’s vote holds more sway than another’s, regardless of their contributions.
If your responsible citizen has the means to contribute tens of thousands of dollars through taxation, wouldn’t he/she also have the means to contribute meaningful dollars to political campaigns to exert some influence? Sounds like they have an advantage over the junked-up crackhead. Like junked-up crackheads vote anyway.
Do me a favor, come up with a solution to identify laggards by choice and those with legitimate reasons.

Having unprotected sex is an option every women can choose to have or not to have. It is not up to society to pay for the consequences of consensual unprotected sex. If you think society should pay for that, here’s something else society should pay for. A chronic drunk drives to the bar. I an effort to keep himself and others safe, should we pay for his free limo drive home every night he does this? The person responsible for getting pregnant if they do not want to get pregnant should do or pay for whatever it takes to prevent that, along with the consenting partner. Not me.

If it were just about the cost of care, then birth control would be covered for every woman who wants it and fertility drugs and procedures would be at the consumer’s expense. Why is my cost of care going up so some infertile people can have kids, and possibly expensive, high-risk, multiple births (who covers the millions spent on preemie care and high risk births?) Our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness does not mean we get everything we want– it means we should not be hampered or intimidated from access to just what we need. I feel that birth control is a responsible decision that is good for society, and these other fertility practices are not. No one talks about this especially in politics because it sounds mean and it isn’t going to win votes. True. We are being forced into unsound practices (bending over backwards and costing society more money) by a minority of people because of their religious beliefs. If the church wants all this abundant life, let them melt some of their gold and pay for all these babies, so the insurance companies don’t have to charge everyone else.

You know, I think everyone is missing a crucial point:

Birth control is cheap. Cheap pills are things you don’t put on an insurance plan. Why? Spreading the costs doesn’t lower the costs.

Just buy your own birth control. Problem solved. If women are really outraged that they actually have to pay for birth control, it’s insane. What’s next? Advil for that headache? They are the same level of cost and same level of use.

It’s absurd that democrats are actually fighting over this.

Why in the hell are we babying women this much as a side comment?

This isn’t worth the fight. They should just be talked to with common sense, like they aren’t idiots, and told that it just doesn’t make any sense at all.

By the same token, people who don’t have kids shouldn’t have to pay for those who do. Those who claim their kids as exemptions on their tax forms are being subsidized by those of us who don’t. Furthermore, we are subsidizing the costs of your kids’ medical care. Something to think about for all the hyppocrites out there whining about having to cover birth control.

If you want to have sex, then you should pay for it yourself right? That includes those kids that result from it. Pay for your own kids. Take responsibility. Quit sponging off of the rest of us.

If you claim/have claimed your kids or get/have gotten the use of public schools, then I guess you must be one of those “libtards” too. You guys sure like your free handouts.

        Don’t call me Shirley:

        You are a complete fool.

That is not by the same token. A small first point: Adding a kid to an insurance policy is not adding costs that drain from your policy. In fact, it’s adding premiums that YOUR policy needs. Low cost, low claims, which pays for YOUR coverage.

Adding birth control, a $25 dollar charge, increases the cost of that $25 dollar product without need, as it is already affordable. Should we add advil, eye drops, and other day to day meds to the list? Are you for that? THAT would be by the same token. By the token I measured: If it’s affordable, pay for it rather than raising everyone’s cost. You’ll note that I did not reference heart meds, and you saw that as me being a hypocrite! Well if we’re paying for expensive stuff we should pay for birth control too! That’s the same thing! That’s your argument?

Get your head out of your ass and think with common sense. Rather than trying to label me a “user” of the system. Don’t do that, and I won’t be hostile. I’ve taken less than you have in your entire life. I guarantee you. I’m Hispanic. No hispanic college assistance. No college assistance at all. No government assistance. I’ve only recently filed to claim a child on taxes. For the record: That’s personal responsibility. My taxes, and your taxes, should be lower as is. Government’s role needs to be lower. I am not a hypocrite in the least. And insurance works the way it works. I am just no ok with putting an unecessary low cost item onto an insurance plan, and raising everyone else’s costs. It’s not a net benefit. If we added all those pills, healthcare would be unaffordable. I should also note: I have clearly stated I’m ok with a public option for people who need it. So get your head out of your ass there. I have never said pay for everything in life, as you have prempitively labeled my comments. I’m not that type of republican. BUT, when you CAN pay for something even at poverty level, and you just want to increase the cost and have someone pay for it, that’s not ok. And it’s not ok to do that and make it seem like a personal hot issue topic for women to buy votes. It’s dishonest, and us republicans, NEVER do that bull crap.

By the way: Hi again Planet. Good to hear from you again, but your argument and twisting here is idiotic. Let’s keep on the very specific way I worded things ok?

“Birth control is cheap. Cheap pills are things you don’t put on an insurance plan. Why? Spreading the costs doesn’t lower the costs.”

        Note the wording, moron.

Again: I am only not ok with this, because it’s something that raises costs and actually can be paid.

Give help where it’s needed, and while not raising costs, efficiently only for things that are NEEDED and can otherwise not be obtained. That’s my mindset. It’s not about “TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING YOURSELF YOU LAZY PIECE OF CRAP!”

As you think I believe. It is about take care of what you “have the ability to” you lazy piece of crap. Very different there. But I’m sure you wouldn’t get that.

I have no problem with the pill having a copay. I have a problem with providing it for absolutely no cost, because quite simply, nothing is free. Someone, somewhere is paying extra to give someone else that freebie. On top of that, you still must see your doctor, get an RX, and then fill it and take it. No annual visit, no continued RX. That is how this works, for those of you who have never been on the pill. How many do you think will keep up with this to keep their pill supply? About the same as do today most likely. There will always be those who forget, get too busy, don’t go to the dr and run out of the RX and then an unplanned pregnancy. It a responsibility thing, the responsible will take care of their business, just like they do today, those that are not responsible won’t, free pills or not. Nothing will be gained, but a lot will be spent. Like so many government programs. 20 years from now, the question will be, why did it not work? Why are their still unplanned pregnancies?

I vote to have the copay the net cost of the pill. In other words they don’t pay the mark up but they cover the cost so taxpayers don’t have to.

Actually, I don’t think Obummercare should even include it. Seeing that this week one physician- health survey poll (not sure but it may have been sponsored by John Hopkins?? I can’t remember) pegged the cost of Obummercare for each family at $20,000 per year by 2016/2017. Way to cut costs and make healthcare affordable, Mr. community organizer

Adam said- “If what the Administration means is that it’s less expensive that children, well that’s a half-truth because in the long-term we need more children to become productive adults to subsidize the boomers’ retirement at 60 years of age”.

Adam, the key word in your message is Productive children. Let’s face it, most of the real problem here is deadbeats and illegals who have pregnancy after pregnancy as they see it as a way to get a pay increase in welfare and any other government program they can take advantage of. I don’t see this as an issue with families that have health coverage now, in decent neighborhoods, at least not in our area. That is not to say that a girl does not get pregnant by mistake. If she needed birth control pills then she should have bought and paid for them or her family pay. If the girl becomes pregnant then the two families involved need to take care of that not every taxpayer.

What birth control might help prevent (but I doubt it to any degree) is the prevention of a new deadbeat future generation. Recently in the news, the police chased down a deadbeat dad. He had 9 children by 5 different mothers all on welfare and medicaid. He had never paid a dime in child support because guess what? He is also on welfare and medicaid. He has created another generation of government takers and Obama voters all on his own.

If the government wanted to do something helpful to get these people off the payroll and prevent the proliferation of another deadbeat generation they would pay for sterilization. For example, if a pregnant women on Medicaid delivers in a hospital and decides she wants to have a tubaligation, she can’t get it and medicaid won’t pay. Why, because the government requires a women give 6 weeks advance notice if she wants her tubes tied. If she decides at the hospital, tough, no can do. So what happens with these Einstiens? They go home, forget about it and the next man coming down the street gets her pregnant and it starts all over again. The taxpayers pick up the tab. In private insurance a woman can decide while in the hospital and private insurance will pay for it.
