“And it’s a mandate, not a suggestion. The law says virtually all Americans must carry health insurance starting next year, although most will just keep the coverage they now have through their jobs, Medicare or Medicaid.” Pfftt! Keep the same coveage they have now through thier jobs. BS! Not for small businesses. We’re going to get some cheepo plan that will not even come close to the plan we have now. Thank you Obama. Next step socialize heath insuarnce because that’s where Obama exactly wants it to go. Wake up people.

Not, you should ask someone from Great Britain how theirs has worked for them. Their Healthcare system is broke and in a shambles and they have laid off 300,000 healthcare workers in recent years. They no longer treat the elderly that develop a serious illness and prefer to put them on the “Pathway to Death” which is legalized euthanasia. I don’t call that better average results. Canadians can’t get treatment in a timely manner so they come to the US for their operations. They won’t be able to do that much longer with this turkey in place.

Which countries might that be? I have travelled a big part of the world and have not found any country that has socialized medicine and has lower costs and better healthcare. For example, there is a lot of Canadians who cross the border into Michigan to get care they can’t get in Canada. They say it sucks.

I saw this on a separate site the other day and was wondering when IJ would publish it. I thought the Blue Cross 4 pager asked a lot of questions. Try 15 pages on for size. My guess is that most of the brain dead liberal folks out there will have to have their hand held to get through this abominable application and HHS will have to hire 10,000 more “navigators” to walk them through it. Then, they will have to waive the premium for them since it won’t be affordable. Hello taxpayers, guess who will foot the bill.

Good for Obamacare! I’m tired of the taxpayers just handing over money to anyone without complete verification. We all know how abused the Section 8 housing is. We subsidize someone’s rent and they have a live in partner with a job.. Don’t give away the health insurance without verification. Every doctor and hospital out there wants to be able to bill insurance rather than provide “free” care. RomneyCare is the game in MA and many many people have taken advantage of it. A friend with breast cancer had to drop her employers plan because of the cost & high co-pay. She signed up for MassHealth and kept her doctors but was able to pay the premiums with her limited, part time income..

There will be assistants to help enroll people in the Exchanges, called Navigators, as well as Agents & Brokers who sign up to be appointed with the Exchange.

Individual/Family health insurance applications right now are not easy either! 5 year medical history – heck, Washington state has a 27 page health questionnaire (in addition to the carrier application) so this can’t be worse.

Also, in regards to Always Amazed comments, the small group plans for those between 2-50 employees will have maximum deductibles and out of pockets that will be capped – and in many cases they are LOWER than most of the plans that my small employers have (I personally work with close to 200 small employer groups on their benefits).

With over 50+ years in the I nsurance business –Licensed [all 50 states] Nationwide –I have delt with thousands of P&C and L&H clients–for business and personnal Insurance.I would strongly suggest that; [1. ALL APPLICANTS BE “PRESENTED” THE SAME BASIC HEALTH PLAN –in response to a completed application. This will satisfy most applicants. Thos that may want a quote for some other option can seperatly make a request for plan #2. Plan #3; Plan #4 and so on. 85% will accept the recommended STANDARD PBENEFIT PROGRAM. This will make life a lot simpler for everyone during start up. Changes can be made later–or at renewal. There needs to be only simple DECISSIONS that need to be made by the applicant.

    Respectfully recommended, FDL

Still playing that class warfare card, huh DaveNot? The reason for the deficit is the entitlement crowd that you sympathize with. Your Progressive Liberal heroes in Congress took the Social Security Trust and moved it to the General Fund back in the 60’s to pay for the Great Society War on Poverty. We have more poor people in this country now than back then and we have a system approaching bankruptcy. Your theory is complete baloney. You must be part of the OWS crowd if you believe what you spout off about.

No, your boy Barry Barack Sotero Hussein Obama created the largest deficit in the history of the United States. More than all the other presidents combined. He is adding 1+ trillion in debt each year. Besides that he has NEVER, in his 5 years in office presented a budget let alone a balanced budget. Now someone is going to say yes, he did in his first year but no, that was not a budget it was an “Outline” and even then his own party would not pass it. I guess community organizers don’t have to deal with budgets. With a budget deficit of 16.7 trillion and growing it is time to take the deadbeat checkbook away.

Actually Sargent, I do think the President sent over a budget a couple of years ago which did not garner a single vote in the Senate. Even his buddy Reid did not vote for it. Now, he is making the piddly sequestration cuts as painful as possible by denying access to the White House (unless you have $500,000) while Lurch Kerry is doling out $250 Million to the Muslim Brotherhood the TSA gets new uniforms to the tune of $50Million. What is wrong with this picture?

On a brighter note, your former mayor of Detroit, the now infamous Kwame Kilpatrick (D) was convicted of 24 counts of corruption, money laundering etc, etc. I am sure this was a racist prosecution, right? They probably could have added another 100 counts just as easy.

            Planet:

I’ve had this debate before, the 16 UN sanctions were put in place by Clinton and were quoted by Bush for the reason for going to war.

WMD’s was not the primary. Morever, the primary was that Bush said they were harboring Bin Laden. Bin Laden was in Iraq when we went in there, CIA released intelligence proved it. And remind me where Bin Laden was found?

It was not a war on false pretenses. You liberals are trying to relabel why we went to war.

Wait! It was the oil! Wait! It was the WMD’s, and ONLY the WMD’s! No. It was going after the instigators of 9/11. We asked Saddam to let us inspect his country for Bin Laden, and he said no. Saddam was in fact hiding Bin Laden, as Bush said he was. Therefore, the pretenses that each American held onto at the time, that we were going after the instigators of 9/11, hiding in Iraq, was not a false pretense.

Also, the war spending is part of the DOD. It increased the DOD spending delta from the norm by a total of about 1.25 trillion over Bush’s Tenure. And look Planet! A government source!

            http://www.cbo.gov/latest/National-Security/Iraq-and-Afghanistan

You cannot count the interest on the wars, unless you want to count Obama’s interest on the constant over 1 trillion dollar year spending, 10 years from now. That’s methodlogy my friend, and it’s the correct methodology. That total of the war is therefore directly comparable to Obama’s spending.

The wars are not the reason behind the deficit. That comes out to a single year of Obama’s spending.

Please stop being a misinformed idiot.

Also, Hillary Clinton and Al Gore voted to go to that war. Look up the videos, you idiot. Where Gore even back in HW’s presidency (thus information that was NOT Bush’s) said we had “every” not some, “every” piece of information that told us we needed to take action in Iraq.

Are you really this stupid? Was he manipulated by Bush Jr back then too? If so, he doesn’t deserve to be in politics, since so clearly you spotted that misleading and he didn’t.

Planet, wake up. Democrats voted for that war. Bush’s approval rating went to almost 90%. People didn’t care about the WMD’s. They cared about 9/11. Bush was up front that we were taking out Saddam for refusing us the ability to go after Bin Laden.

Planet, We have had those discussions before and your hard head still didn’t get it since you are absent of some IQ power. The reason for the wars were because we were attacked by that little incident known as 9/11. I know that you and your agreeing minions think Bush should have kneeled in front of Bin Laden and apologized like your leader has done and not taken action to avenge 3,000+ American lives, but he chose to go after the evil doers. I certainly would have lost respect for him had he not done so. Were mistakes made after the military action was done? Sure, every government makes mistakes and plenty were made. They continue to be made in Afghanistan under your leader and he has been pouring money down the rat hole there. There is enough blame to go around. This is only a small part of our deficit problem. Your precious social programs are eating this country alive. The standard of living is going down, unemployment is rampant, 50 million+ on food stamps and we have to look forward to completing a 15 page app to get Obamacare which will be much higher than what we have now.

Um, Agent, President Obama and his team got Bin Laden, he didn’t bow down to him. And, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq had oil and Junior needed to finish Daddy’s business, that’s all. And, it would behoove you to truly determine the amount of earned benefits vs. military spending as it relates to the deficit. Or maybe, “you can’t handle the truth!” – Another Seinfeld reference, these are becoming too easy.

Obama did not get Bin Laden. The information was obtained from a waterboarded detainee before Obama was in office. We don’t know the whole story, but we do know he was waterboarded in 2007 for certain.

Obama planned on closing Gitmo on day one. Tortured detainees lead to the capture of Bin Laden.

You make bold claims about military spending in ways that don’t matter. Our military did not hire more military to do the war seperate from the DOD budget and there was no draft. The DOD budget swelled, but not beyond reasonable amounts, as is clear based on the fact that this swelling has continued in Obama’s presidency.

The DOD budget pays for Iraq and Afghanistan. It is you would behooved to look into how budgets work regarding war spending.

Also: We went to war to go after those responsible for 9/11. Saddam was harboring Al Queida, and did help Bin Laden flee. This is not an opinion. Again: Where was Bin Laden found? In, or outside of the “axis of evil” that Obama said “didn’t exist”?

He must be young since he has a new baby and doesn’t really know what went on back then. We lived through it and saw first hand what went on. I am old enough to know what LBJ did to the Social Security Trust Fund when he stole it and put it in the General Fund. To add insult to injury, Clinton/Gore started taxing Social Security Benefits. Even that is not enough. Obamacare transfers $700Billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. How could “the whole national surplus” have been doled out to the rich when I distinctly remember the President referring to the complete reversal of that tax cut as “a modest increase” for those making more than $250,000 a year during the 2012 campaign. Surely an amount that when reversed was “a modest increase” could not have impacted the national surplus!

As usual Planet, your warped views of history fail you. We have not received a drop of Iraqi oil as a result of going after Sadam. I wish we had gotten paid back with it. They owe this country a lot for the blood and treasure expended. To refresh your memory one more time, we went to Afghanistan first and kicked butt to get the Taliban out and tried to get Bin Laden, but he was too well protected and elusive. We went for Sadam because every intelligence service in the free world said he had WMD’s and would use them. Unfortunately, we gave him too much time messing around in the UN to get 17 declarations and by then he was able to squirrel them away to Syria who now has them and is threatening to use them on us if we come in there. Go play with your baby and have a good St Pat’s day. I am through with you for this week.

So Planet, what do you think about our President going over to the Middle East and pledging money to help their struggling economies all the while denying school children access to the White House due to Sequester? Does he have a private stash to give money to the Muslin Brotherhood while airport terminals in this country are being shut down? Laying off food inspectors from the USDA is also on the list. When does this President start thinking about this country instead of his Muslim bretheren in other countries? They hate our guts, but won’t turn down the money or military equipment we are sending them.

If we had politicians who watch over the tax money and spend it wisely, it might be different and I am happy to pay my taxes, but to see what they are doing with it and how much more they spend than they take in with all the entitlement schemes, it turns my stomach.

So FFA, a story came out today that the government is closing a number of regional airport control towers due to Sequestration. I guess they want to close travel down for several million travelers. They want us to feel the pain for the miniscule 2% budget cuts. What an outlaw government we have now. There are no real cuts in the budget. All we did was slow the rate of increase in government spending. These people need to resign for the good of the country.

Ever since he lost his joined at the hip mate Libby, he has lost his enthusiasm for his cause. I wonder what happened to her. My guess is she lost her job again and doesn’t have access to the site anymore. I, too am disappointed in Boehner. He is part of the old guard RINO’s who have presided over the decline of the party. He should be replaced by Louie Gohmert of Texas who is a true conservative and will not buckle every time he turns around. I don’t watch that much Fox anymore except for some of the hot women and occasionally Hannity. O’Reilly just trots out liberals most of the time that I can’t stand. I do like him practically kicking Alan Colmbs off the air when Colmbs was too goofy to make a salient point. I would prefer he just have Monica Crowley on and have a rational discussion of the issues.

We don’t need any more reach across the aisle guys who compromise Conservative beliefs every time. When have you ever seen a Progressive Democrat adopt a Conservative position on any issue. They take the position of “our way or the highway”. I look at Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and they are that new wave. We need a bunch more just like them.

Think of places like community centers, county clinics, nonprofits etc which will have trained Navigators. Not people in an overseas call center. Sorry FFA, wrong.

Sargent, there is no doubt in my mind that Ohio was stolen. Between the unions, Acorn crowd and other deadbeats, they made sure their votes were counted over and over. In some precincts, Romney didn’t get a single vote. That has never happened in American history. Florida had much the same issues. Allen West had a lead until midnight in his bid and then some mystery votes showed up and he lost by a couple of thousand. The country should have learned from the Franken win in Minnesota a few years ago when car trunks of votes showed up at the last minute to be counted. We now do not have a free electorate in this country. The left liked to scream that Republicans were trying to keep them from voting and in fact, they vote multiple times and numerous cases have come to light about this travesty. I wonder if they will prosecute the woman who voted 9 times. She will probably get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.

I can’t be the only person who thinks you SHOULD have to jump through hoops and invest some of your time to get FREE money? I’m sorry, but taking an extra hour or so out of your daily life to fill out an application and educate yourself isn’t an atrocity.

“Some are concerned that a lot of uninsured people will be overwhelmed and simply give up.” Fine! Give up! I guess you weren’t so hard up for financial assistance for your HEALTH as you claimed to be during last election. Oh wait, don’t give up, because then I have to fork out more tax dollars to pay some other guy (counselor) to fill out the application for you.

Don’t worry about the uninsured. The illegals will have interpreters, the deadbeats will have it filled out for them at the welfare office, the youthful who did not want it anyway will blow it off and pay the penalty as it will be cheaper than buying and if they get sick they will walk into the emergency room. And you will help pay the bill. As on yesterday the CBO said that healthcare was originally (according to Obama) goig to cost around 900 million. Their latest estimate 3.6 Trillion, that is Trillion and going up. So much for better healthcare at a lower cost. What a joke.

I agree that if you are newly unemployed you should be eligible for healthcare assistance the same as you should be eligible for unemployment compensation. Why, because your healthcare expense can eat up your unemployment comp. That said it should run the same time as unemployment and should not go on forever. It should be long enough to obtain another job, retrain or retire etc. People who have had steady employment and want to go back to work should be given help if they find themselves temporarily unemployed.

DS, apparently you have not seen this from the LA Times Mar 7 2013 business section front page article. It reads: “California officials face mounting criticism from union leaders over plans to let retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc enroll shoppers in President Obama’s healthcare expansion.

“The state wants employees at Wal-Mart and other retailers to help consumers learn about their options and assist them in buying federally subsidized private insurance”.

So hear my sarcastic tone here: Great, let’s go to Wal-Mart and get critical insurance advice from people whose only credential is having attended a canned seminar. Misrepresentation? Hey, don’t worry about it, it’s only your life & death healthcare matters!!!

This is a recipe for misinformation and disaster, since the Wal-Mart assistors will surely have Big Government shielding them such liabilities.

Yet Obamacare is making every effort to remove professional health insurance agents & brokers from the equation. To transact health insurance, agents & brokers must qualify for and maintain state licenses and perform mandatory continuing ed. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in running a professional insurance agency so clients receive the best combination of advice, accountability and benefits for their dollar.

Actions speak much louder than words. By so discounting the quality of enrollment advice, this is just dose number one of the poison prescription known as Obamacare. The worst is yet to come.

I can see AARP volunteering to help people sign up. All it would cost is buying a membership and that would help them recoup their dwindling membership. I get an average of two mailings a month with pre-made membership cards asking me to join up. They are promptly discarded in the garbage.

Agent, I get the same mailings. I have been getting them for years and I was not even eligible to join AARP. They thought my dad lived here and he was 300 miles away. Every time I get one I tear off the return and send it blank, in the pre paid envelope to AARP. I figure that has to drive up their cost a little and if everyone did that maybe they would stop. I do the same thing to credit card offers which are also a fraud.
Remember, that organization (AARP) has changed. I remember when my grandparents became AAP members vs today. They went from being an organization that helps older people to making money off the back of older people making it look like they are this great benevolent association. That is why they are such big supporters of Obozocare. They will make millions more in revenue if healthcare options are limited and they can get the older uninformed to sign up with AARP.
