I would imagine that companies covering Firearms MFG/Sales will collect some big audit additional premiums if it is based on sales. Americans are very worried about having their 2nd Amendment rights taken away so they are going to buy as much as they can. They may also think they will have to defend themselves from the government at some point. The leftists definitely want to get all the guns because they know the people cannot be controlled and dictated to if they are armed.

As a believer in the 2nd amendment, I still believe that a law abiding, mentally competent, taxpaying citizen who has never committed a crime should be allowed to buy whatever gun they want. I am also not opposed to background checks as they are done now and 90% plus of the gun show sales are made by licensed gun dealers.
The problem we have now is ammunition. You can’t find handgun ammunition around here. The criminals have it but the good guys can’t find it. If you can find it the cost is outrageous. Now is it coincidental that all of the sudden there is no handgun ammunition since the mass shooting in December?
I have read where the government is buying large quantities and not allowing it to the public. If true that would be another intrusion into public life and another reason why we should have changed administrations when we had the chance.

When the U.S. Government buys 2,000,000,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition for domestic use (yes, that is 2 Billion, with a Capital ‘B’), stories like this aren’t much of a surprise. And yes, this ammo order was really placed. They also gave a big contract to a company that makes unorthodox shooting range targets… their targets are “unorthodox targets” like gun-toting women and children, and the point is to eliminate the half-second hesitation and get shooters accustomed to firing on these kinds of targets.

In light of these kinds of news stories combined with potential further restrictions on legal gun ownership, it is not much of a surprise people are buying guns and hoarding ammo.

You must have read some of the same articles I read. I also read but can’t confirm that George Soros owns ammunitions manufacturers which accounts for about 60% of the ammunition made in the US. Wow

Sargent, I saw an article just this morning that said the government has given Remington an $80 million contract to make guns for them including assault weapons. Remington has sold their soul to the government. By the way, that is our tax dollars going for this contract. Remington has decided to stay in NY because of this contract.

Yes, that is a lot of ammunition. However, there are a LOT of US government employees (FBI, SS, and armed forces, for example)who use live ammunition every day.

I have ammo but not enough to say I hoard it. Now I have a friend or two that have been hoarding it. One has approximately 35,000 rounds in a gun vault. No he is not a nut. A great, mild mannered, sane, taxpaying citizen and gentleman who likes the outdoors and does not believe the federal government should continue to create legislation that won’t have any impact on gun violence for political purposes. Would do anything for anyone.

    Folks,

Ya’ll need to shake yourself. Police are trained to shoot or not shoot at targets based on threat assessment. A woman carrying a baby AND pointing a weapon at someone is a threat; period. You hesitate, you lose. It is not about whether “law-abiding, sane, tax-paying citizens” have weapons; it is about whether you are pointing it at someone else.

The government purchases ammo in bulk just like everyone else. When ya’ll when ape*&^% on “government taking my guns” and started purchasing ammo, they had to respond accordingly. IT COST LESS TO BUY IN BULK!! It is not about them hoarding ammo for the big OK Corral shoot off with Skeeter and Dougie and the other Hitler youth. Stop believing FOX news and the NRA. Gun manufacturers shold be inviting Pres. Obama at their national conventions because they have made record sales by HYPING HALF TRUTHS AND FEAR MONGERING!!!

One of the things that is overlooked is that US government has the biggest military base in the world. That means that they need a lot of fire arms. That is where the big numbers come in. Also, another important thing that I think I would mention when it comes to gun insurance is that they need to be properly adapted to your needs. I would recommend that anyone who owns a gun or is looking into getting one, gets liability insurance. It is the only way to protect yourself from damage done by someone else if your gun ends up in wrong hands.
