Dave, the libs continue to whistle a happy tune. Based on this information, what could possibly go wrong? I have seen the 10 page app and few will be able to apply without the help of a Navigator and I am not sure they will be able to help with this monstrocity.

The concern about the state’s systems managing the volume is a good one and should be noted. Bigger than that is Experion’s system. Yes they’ve been around and manage nationwide hits from vendors everyday. Now lets add the tens of thousands of net new hits that from the public.

The problems with this bill just keep coming. Too bad we will be fixing programming issues with this in 2015 instead of voting for sustainable leadership in this country.

Now, our wonderful Administration is delaying the requirement that businesses implement Obamacare until 2015. Could the mid terms of 2014 have anything to do with that decision? Apparently, the light at the end of the tunnel was indeed the oncoming train wreck.

Libby, please explain how the POTUS can change a law that was passed by Congress and signed into law with specific guidelines on the implementation and dates it was to be started. So, if we have a 2,700 page law with 12,000+ pages of regulations, a President can just change it to suit his political agenda, right? Maybe he should have asked Congress to issue a change of implementation date instead of doing it on his own.

Agent – it’s my understanding that the law is not being changed. The employer mandate, while still in force, will not be ENforced. At least that’s the way I understand it.

That’s not quite true, Agent. The pay or play aspect for employers with 50+ FTE is delayed until 2015, but there are still many other requirements of the law which affect businesses (such as the already in place requirement to provide SBCs to all eligible employees and dependents, the upcoming requirement to notify employees of the Exchanges, the new plan enhancements and minimum coverages which will take place 1/1/14 to name a few).

Personally, I think the delays on the pay or play penalty and the reporting requirements are just due to needing to figure out the most efficient and practical way to gather the data from employers.

And what happens to those who cannot get signed up in the time allowed due to IT snafus or requirements for extraordinary identification documents that might take time to secure? Will they be fined? Given the pace that typical gov’t programs often take to complete, I forsee another unintended consequence – a total crashing of the system and/or many people out in the cold throught no fault of their own and with an IRS bill in their hands. All these social programs look good on paper but all too often don’t work as their proponents would like to belive they will. Why? Because these programs are conceived by theorists who don’t consider any of the practical implications or potential downsides and then rammed through Congress with little or no debate because the theorists are convinced they are right about everything and that the issue is too important to let the “unwashed”, i.e., those who are most directly affected by and have to pay the cost, have any input. This so-called signature law may well prove to be the ultimate financial undoing of this country which is already under a heap of debt with no end in sight.

I agree with you Rusty on 99% of your points, but have to say this social engineering bill did not look good on paper. When I saw the enormity of the legislation (2,700) pages that no one including legal scholars could understand and then the subsequent 12,000+ pages of regulation, it was an oncoming train wreck. Even Max Baucus, one of the sponsors has said now he sees the wreck approaching and he is not running for re-election since he doesn’t want to face his angry constituents. He may move to the Bahamas or someplace so he can hide out. This is the worst legislation ever foisted upon the citizens of this country, mark my words.

You must have a lot of Muslims in your neck of the woods. Are they pressing for Sharia Law yet? The article said many of these Muslims have 3 or 4 wives and have to list the extras as extended family to get benefits.

Well she gets my thumbs down vote because she says stupid things that normal people would not say. She is what she is. Normal people are not going to think that information off a KKK website is credible let alone publish the link to the KKK. Not to mention the coat hanger comments and the drunken truck driver language. Then she turns around and blames me because she gets thumbed down.

Libby, you are not insane, but are misguided if you think Obamacare is the right approach to do Healthcare Reform. It was unpopular when passed and even more unpopular now and will be an unmitigated disaster to implement. Many leading carriers like United Healthcare & Aetna want no part of the Individual exchanges and just announced they would not participate at all in California.

Actually Agent, I have never said I thought Obamacare was the right approach. Just that it’s the only approach anyone has been able to get through and that it’s a step in the right direction. I’ve always said it will need tweaking, streamlining, and changes just as any other massive undertaking does. Rome was not built in a day, you know.

But I’m wondering now if it was intentionally created to be so onerous that a single-payor option will be the only viable solution come 2016. That would be OK with me.

BTW, you Repubs better get on the stick with a qualifed candidate for 2016 or you will be seeing a lot of Hilary then. Your favorite girl!

You don’t have any problem bad-mouthing Mexicans, gays, and women, but you get a little touchy when race is mentioned. Maybe you have been on the receiving end of your own bigotry in the past. Is that why you are so hateful towards other minorities?

Careful Libby, you are cheer leading again. It is remarkable that you are so willing to let this government take over your healthcare given all the misdeeds that have come to light recently. You are due for a big shock in the very near future. I saw an interesting interview this morning with a young working single woman who was on an Aetna Group policy. Her current premiums for just her was $445 per month. Aetna sent notice that her renewal on 8-1 was $668 per month for the same plan she had. Her only choice was to go to a high deductible, bare bones policy in order to afford coverage. What happened to the promise that if you like your plan, you can keep it? I guess you can if you can afford it and many Americans can’t afford it now.

Just another reason for universal healthcare in this country, Agent. If Canada can do it for less with better outcomes, we should be able to, too. Screw Aetna and all the other carriers with their record-breaking profits!

In the first three quarters of 2011, the five largest publicly traded insurers reported their best three-quarter performance of the past decade, Bloomberg found. The companies’ average operating margin widened to 8.65 percent in 2011, compared with 6.9 percent in the 18 months before the law was passed, surpassing Wall Street analysts’ expectations.

Yes, I remember Y2K and the world wide panic that computers would just shut down, people buying non perishables, water, cans of gasoline etc. It doesn’t take much for people to panic in this day and time. There is currently a lot of fear in our society about what kind of world we are living in and what it is about to become.
