A survey of owners taken last month by the advocacy group National Small Business Association found that 20 percent have held off on implementing a growth strategy because of rising health care costs. Thirty-six percent said they had refrained from raising salaries and 26 percent have held back on hiring.

So, 80% are implementing a growth strategy, 64% are raising salaries, and 74% are not holding back on hiring. Not as devastating as the numbers I’m hearing from conservative talk shows.

Planet, you are in total denial. This bill is the biggest job killer ever passed. Even Lisa Meyers of NBC News went out and interviewed a number of small businesses and she had her eyes opened about job cut backs, reduced hours due to the implementation of Obamacare. Many thousands of small employers are having their American Dream shattered by this travesty, but since you are an employee instead of an owner and it hasn’t affected you yet, you will never get it.

Not nearly as many having American Dream shattered than those who went bankrupt due to medical bills or died due to being denied for pre-existing conditions, not able to afford healthcare, or lifetime max.

Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. Life – hmmm, healthcare helps with that. Pursuit of Happiness – hmmm, a healthy person is typically happier than an ill one. We should just have, at the very least, a public option.

Planet, it is pretty hard to pursue happiness when the job market dries up and employers drop coverage for healthcare. Employers are being forced into some very tough decisions. Do they do what they need to stay in business or do they eventually go bankrupt with the unending cost increases and government regulation? Of course, you would probably just go on the government dole if you lost your job and would be as happy as a lark. If you claim disability, you could go out and golf to your hearts content on the taxpayers dime.

Even more difficult when you’re dead or so sick you can’t function.

I like working hard, Agent. I take side jobs when I can find them (painting, pressure washing, freelance writing/editing/proofreading, voiceover work, radio work), and I’m currently in the early stages of setting up a web based service. I am seeing business around me flourish. Our company continues to grow. Time will tell if your doom and gloom predictions come true. I’m not sold. You are the guy that told us Americans are holding a referndum on President Obama and Romney would win in a landslide. The exact opposite held true.

Captain Planet sees obama care through rose colored glasses. The information we’re getting in our life and health dept. is that small business health plan premiums will increase 50%-60%.

I’m not for or against Obamacare, however I will say that my husband is on disability for a very serious medical conditions and even AFTER my benefits we are still paying over $900/month for meds alone. Something needs to be done besides the healthcare insurance. The drug companies need to be looked at as well. Everyone is looking for a quick fix and all they are doing is putting band-aids here and there. The entire health system needs to be revamped from doctors, drug companies, health insurance companies and yes, even attorneys suing for medical malpractice.

You’re right, Concerned. Obamacare includes some provisions for keeping healthcare costs in check and improving the care patients receive from their providers.

Concerned, I agree. One more thing is that something needs to be done about the cost of medical school. Doctors, surgeons, etc. are charging the way they do, at least partially, because they have such huge amounts of med school debt to contend with. The college administrators and holders of other high offices (those who don’t even teach anything) are disgustingly overpaid, and we all get to pay for that.

Cap and Trade, Education Reform, Obamacare, Dodd Frank, expansion of food stamps, Immigration Reform, Dream Act, Climate Change handouts to foreign countries, Obama’s ideas are all about taking money from one person or company and giving it to another. As well as giving American money to foreign countries ripe with corruption. Name the program. The man ought to be jailed for the damage he has done to this country. I read alot about liberals every day..they seek to legislate every day life (size of a coke in New York), infringe on privacy (Progressive Insurance vehicle tracking devices), NSA spying, it just goes on and on. Fortunately, Obama is ineffective at actually accomplishing anything, and for this we are pleased. But the mere thought that so many Americans are ignorantly supportive of this criminal in the White House is scary. Pay attention at the wheel.

Stupid here, I challenge you to make a better plan which also cuts costs. I know someone with a special needs family of 3, that are getting better coverage with the ACA, and are saving approximately 400 dollars monthly.

Top that. Looks to me that the costs will only decrease with the surge of participants.
