The 106,000 did not include Medicaid applicants. That number was over 300,000. So you’ve got 1 person paying for 4.

So far so good. That’s what we heard the man who fell off the building say as he passed each floor.

Well, Libby, you have 7 likes so far including mine. I would be a little stronger saying it is an unmitigated disaster and is really beyond repair. Some say the Republicans should come in and save the day by offering solutions to an unsolvable problem. The only real answer is to scrap the whole deal and start over in a bi-partisan way which is against the grain of Progressives. Their attitude of our way or the highway didn’t work out so well, did it?

We all know it can’t be fixed legally without going thru congress. Watch what happens to this, and then watch how he “fixes” other things like amnesty and gun control.

We’ve all made mistakes. The challenge is not about right or wrong, its about what is best going forward and the current status of ACA (inability to keep current policy) and technology setbacks are not it. Change, well repeal the law, allow people to keep their policy (good or bad) and build a better ACA with bi-partisan approach.

Another like from me, as well, Libby. I appreciate you taking responsibility.

If both parties were wise, they would repeal the law and replace it with the parts that are good for healthcare (pre-existing condition coverage, allow coverage for young adults up to 26 years old to continue on parents coverage but only if no other coverage is available). They also need to include a tort reform element and allow for coverage to be provided across state lines to increase the competition the natural (capitalist) way.

There should be minimal required coverage (preventive maintenance, prescription, hospitalization) and allowance for individuals to choose/add other coverage options like birth control, etc.

They also need to scrap the govt option. If a govt option is necessary, than it should be a non-competitive high risk pool like WC or auto state funds.

Probably not since most have an IQ between 50-75 and were married to the ideology. Now, many are in a quandry and don’t want to face the angry constituents. They can run, but they can’t hide from this.

The Democrats a risk were going to side with the Upton bill which would have made Obama look even worse (the rats leaving the ship so to speak. The press conference today was nothing but political fodder so he can now blame the insurance companies for not being able to reinstating the old contracts.

That would be Mary Landrieu who got the Louisiana Purchase for Medicaid expansion to buy her vote for ACA. She is in big trouble in her state and I don’t think this belated effort will help her any since she has been pushing the ACA since it was passed. I have a friend who lives in La and he tells me she is polling very badly over there. Louisiana is basically a red state with Bobby Jindal as governor so I think it will be even redder after the mid terms unless the Republicans put an imbecile up against her.

So now we have insurance companies that are going to have to scramble to reinstate coverage, sart billing for the renewals, send out i.d. cards and policy info, perhaps reinstate doctors, and other providers that were shut out of new plans but were in old plans that got cancelled. Another technology nightmare. In this scenario, thoguh, it is the private sector who will foot the bill for all of this work. Given that these policies were cancelled, how do the companies even know what to price next year’s coverage?
It’s good that these people should have an option now to keep their coverage, but it sure is going to be another mess getting that to happen.

TxLady, Obamaspeak today was not a mandate and Obama can’t force the insurance companies to reissue the old contracts. I would be surprised if this really happens. I think the insurance commissioner in California made the insurance companies hold off cancelling the policies but I don’t know of any other state that did that.
Remember, the insurance companies complied with the law. Second, the insurance companies were counting on these single contracts moving to the exchanges in order to make the premium and loss numbers work. So, if they go back and reinstate or reissue the numbers don’t work and the premiums go up even more because this is adverse. One health insurance association AHIP said this will cause premiums to increase more than planned. Great, what happened to our $2,500.00 savings per person? Oops- lie

Sargeant, the President does like to play politics, doesn’t he? He makes this pronouncement knowing the insurance industry cannot comply and then he can blame the resultant crisis on their unwillingness to re-instate policies that were cancelled because of his law mandating they have to cancel.

I tried to watch some of that sickening news conference. He amazes me how he can say he knew absolutely nothing about the site problems or he wouldn’t have said it would be as easy as shopping on Amazon.com. His signature legislation and he was so disinterested that he never asked about how it was going, got a demo given to him in the months prior to the rollout. He has not fired anyone for screwing it up and basically has a totally incompetent staff starting with Sebelius, Jarrett and others. I guess they may have tried, but he was out on the golf course and they couldn’t reach him. If this is all true, he has been derelict and lazy and we don’t need a chief executive like that.

I agree, amazed. This is gong to be a nightmare for the carriers IF they want to provide the same coverage. I’m concerned that the premiums for the “reinstated coverage” is going to be so high, that the people are going to complain about that, too. The Dem’s will then say “see, those bad insurance companies were going to stick it to you anyway. We knew our coverage and premiums would be better.”

If by some chance they do fix it, the Dems will claim victory and credit themselves with getting Obamacare fixed.

Obamacare is an example of what happens when inexperienced bureaucrats and ideologists are put in charge of a massive re-engineering program and don’t even know how to properly test it. Too much of what is in Obamacare was based on lofty assumptions with no basis in fact. The fact that a program of this size was passed by one party in both houses with little, rather no, input of the opposing party, no debate, bribes and exemptions for favored parties, outright lies by the president, is very telling of how this country would be ruled if the liberal wing managed to take it over completely. Can anyone imagine how a country run like this could possibly have survived or even been as successful as this one has been for the last 237 years?

I am surprised Obama didn’t put him in charge of the website since he did such great work on the budget- remember Obama saying Biden would go over the budget line by line and get unneeded programs slashed and save the taxpayers a lot of money. How has that worked out for us with a $17 Trillion debt and rising with over $6 Trillion in the past 4 years. Biden actually asked a paraplegic to stand and take a bow at a speech one time. So you prefer a Socialist imbecile from Delaware over the Community Organizer Chicago thug Socialist? What a choice! I actually prefer they both go and it goes to the Speaker of the House. As bad as Boehner is, he would be a 100% improvement over both of them. Of course, we would have to get Reid out of the Senate or we would continue to have gridlock and nothing would ever be debated, voted on or sent to the President for either signature or veto. As it is, Obama wants to impose his will on everyone and will not cooperate or work with Congress. No wonder he has made such a mess of things.

You are right about that. You could end up with Joe “Buy a Shotgun” Biden. I was amazed that nobody from the press went after Biden after the 9/16/2013 Washington Naval Yard Shootings. Guess what ? The killer used a shotgun. Looked like a short barreled Remington pump to me. I guess he took Joe’s suggestion. hanks Joe, you idiot!

I have always said that in close quarters a shotgun is as much a deadly weapon as any assault rifle any day of the week.
