Didn’t they already vow to do this with, “Repeal and Replace”? And, further, in essence they are vowing to have an alternative to what was originally their plan and alternative to Hillarycare as developed by the Right Wing think tank The Heritage Foundation. This version of the Republican Party is as comical as a Tarantino ‘Tragedy’. I wonder when Quentin will make his cameo.

Well, I do support President Obama in many cases and Des Moines is certainly doing well, too. We made The Today Show as wealthiest city I heard. The recession wasn’t felt all that much here. I think it has to do with this being such a large home to financial and insurance headquarters. And, we all know Wall Street has done very well under President Obama. Which, is actually one knock I have on our President. What happened to Main Street, sir? The Wall Street Takers have been golden-spoonfed enough! And, that’s not the only spoon they are shoveling into their heads. Let’s drug test those guys and gals.

How are the Corporate Tax Rates in IA?

You two faced, insane, piece of garbage.

We do not currently have in place a republican plan. Even if the republicans agreed with a mandate (which the bulk of them didn’t, it’s why it never passed. The majority of republicans were against it you tool) having a mandate, does not make the plan a republican plan.

The plan, as you recently stated, was formed to be bad specifically to move to a universal plan. That’s not my belief or words, that is yours.

So you think the republicans passed a plan that would lead to the elimination of private healthcare?

      Also, republicans have several options.

What is like a Tarantino movie, (and by this I mean the sheer insanity of most of his movies just suddenly doing controversial crap) is you and how you view republicans and politics. One second you praise Obama for this plan, the next you say it’s terrible and it’s basically a republican plan. Which is it, you ignorant piece of trash?

      To shorten it up Cap:

If the mandate is the plan, then why is it over 2000 pages?

It took them 2000 pages to make a mandate you idiot? There are thousands of changes in this plan, and you think even if the mandate was republican, (which IT IS IS NOT) that one out of two thousand makes it republican? You think Obama saying “you sit in the back” and no republicans voting on it means the republicans supported a mandate? You think the fact that republicans never passed a mandate means the republicans supported a mandate? Just what makes you think republicans are for a mandate? Some heritage study from 30 years ago?

      You @#%@%ing piece of shit.

Masking Agent is something that hides the drugs in the system so as to beat the drug test. It can be taken orally or um, well somewhere above the Hammys.

FFA, Athletes are always trying to beat the system to gain an edge. I remember long distance runners in the Olympics that did blood doping to increase their endurance. The idea was to draw blood rich in red blood cells out and save it and then transfuse it back in right before they were to race. No trace of any chemicals, but it did help their times. In professional golf, we had the pro Vijay Singh try Antler spray which had small amounts of HGH in it to gain an edge. He spent $14,000 on that stuff and then got caught. By the way, he hasn’t won a tournament either since he can’t putt a lick. He appealed his suspension and I don’t think his case will go anywhere. His fellow pros don’t think much of him either.

–Repeal the Obamacare bill they wrote and replace it with…something totally great, you’ll see, just trust ’em.

–Make it more difficult to vote, especially for voters that skew Democrat

–Teach our kids that Earth is 3,000 years old, Jesus rode dinosaurs, and scientists are Communist Deceivers,

–Close all womens’ health clinics, overturn Roe V Wade and give poor women free coat hangers

–Eliminate communist programs like food stamps and public education

Biden pleaded with Americans during the VP Debate to trust him even though he knew at the time Millions would lose their Health insurance and end up pay lots more for a higher deductible.

–Make it more difficult to vote, especially for voters that skew Democrat
By asking for ID at a polling place? I need to flash my ID to get a beer, why not to vote?

–Teach our kids that Earth is 3,000 years old, Jesus rode dinosaurs, and scientists are Communist Deceivers,
Religious freedom. Believe what you want to. Or can we under OBama?

–Close all womens’ health clinics, overturn Roe V Wade and give poor women free coat hangers

Poor women can get free birth control from the local County Health Department. If not, there are no unwanted babies. When you meet your maker, square up with him.
–Eliminate communist programs like food stamps and public education

First eliminate foreign aide to our sworn enemies.
–Enact freedom-loving programs like tax holidays for corporations with historical record-setting profits, eliminate estate taxes and make the income tax code fully regressive

Anything to give them SOBs less of my money – your too.

–Eliminate social security and send seniors coupons for discounted cat food. Try it, it’s really not that bad!
At the current pace, SS will be bank rupt by the time I get there.

–Turn the borders into fully militarized zones, you know, like the Berlin Wall used to be like back in the Good Ole Days.
Yes, keep the illegals out. After all, they are Illegal.

It’s not religious freedom if it’s put into the public school curriculum, and kids are required to follow it. You can still believe whatever you want to believe without forcing it into the schools, but brainwashing children is child abuse.

Now let’s dissect this. I’ll use English. You know, all those letters that make up words that make up sentences, that make up paragraphs, that make up articles and stories, and novels and such:

        Lets disect this:
(dissect, could be typo, although probably not)

        –Repeal the Obamacare bill…Trust us

(just like Dubya EM Dees. Trust us, they are there. And when we find them, we’ll be on them like a Texican on his cousin)

Voter ID – Maybe we should just gerrymander our districts, we can’t win without it….oh wait.

Jesus and the dinosaurs – you can believe in whatever you want. But if Red States can’t read, write, or comprehend advanced math and science and the Blue State have to pick up the tab, don’t cry to us when you are forced to move to Texico and all you can do for work is taste test rocks.

Poor women and coat hangers – What if you cousin or sister looks really hot one night after flashing your ID for beer and she flashes her you know what and you don’t have a rain coat? This happens all the time in the Red States.

Elimination of Communist Programs – That’s fine, just remember Capitalism is about Gain and Loss. The Capitalization of your gains and your losses. Capitalism doesn’t account for tax write offs. That’s called Capitalization of Gains and Socialization of Losses (Corporate Welfare). Read “Wealth of Nations” by Adam Smith. One of those bunches of papers with them there words on them.

SS and Bankruptcy – It will only be bankrupt if you let a conservative manage it. (But they are good at managing money. Just ask them)

Bombing new places – Even better, make sure you aren’t putting booger sugar on your Cheerios in the morning. That causes paranoia and it will rot your brain from the nose up.

-Militarized Boarders – Exactly. Put one north of Oklahoma unless they want to be part of the axis of evil too.

        – Gitmo – How about shutting down tons of prisons that contain non violent offenders, or replace them with prisons for Hedge Fund and Private Equity managers that eliminated the jobs in this country as well as offshore tax evaders.

Trusting ill politicians – Don’t trust ANY Politician.

George Ryan commuted all Death Row inmates to Life in Prison before he was released. He failed the justice system and got a Nobel Prize for it. One of them I know for certain deserves to die but yet he lives. In my opinion, that one should have been a slow painful public death. He deserves to feel the pain he inflicted on his victims as well as the survivors of what he did. Drunk and on drugs does not excuse his actions. Not in my book…

Teaching Creationism in schools is not “religious freedom.” It’s forcing something very private, religion, on children in a state-run institution. It violates the separation of church and state. This is a fact.

Creationism is not science. Creationism has no place in any conversation regarding science. Bill Nye looks upon you with malcontent, sir/madam.

You have to have “commandments” to tell you right from wrong? Children can be taught good morals without the bribe of a magical kingdom on a cloud.

Our founding fathers were the left-wingers of their time, let’s not forget. I guess Benjamin Franklin never contributed anything to society. Then there was that progressive kook, Thomas Jefferson, who wrote his own version of the New Testament, because he didn’t believe in the resurrection myth.

Back to the 10 commandments, do the “followers” always follow them? I think many are better at talking the talk than walking the walk (e.g. Newt “Family Values” Gingrich). Is it ok to pick and choose which parts of the O.T. to follow and which parts to discard (e.g. eating shellfish)? Does the N.T. provide the “New Covenant” that overrides the O.T., or does it just override the inconvenient parts of the O.T.?

There were several republican plans, many CBO rated. It was great. I already showed the plan offering up to a $5,000 debit card to the poor to buy insurance of their choice, not the employer, as well as making income that goes to insurance premiums non taxable (so let’s say you pay %15,000 in the 15% earnings bracket, that’s $2,250 plus $5,000.) it was also rated to bring down premiums from the baseline 9% (whereas obamacare was going to raise it by 9% from the norm) and would include pre existing conditions. 18% cheaper insurance, elimination of employer based issues in insuring, no mandate, brought down premiums. The only reason it insured less people as per CBO is that it didn’t force people to buy insurance, and they figured people wouldn’t buy as much.

      Bull on the voting.

I would talk to you on this, but you’re far to immature to understand “maturity” and “responsibility”

Eliminate all programs to that of need. Food stamps are three times now what they were in Bush’s tenure. Supposedly the recession is over. So either it isn’t, or we have three times too many people on food stamps. Which is it? Republicans have always been about providing need. Not providing a lifestyle off the government. There is a difference.

Tax holidays for corporations were to make incentives to bring jobs home. Our current rate is not competitive. Income tax code changes they suggest to not make the tax code regressive, and would for a fact help capital growth and distribution. The goal of taxes is not to deal with pay inequality, and many studies have shown the lower the corporate tax rate, the higher the pay of those in corporations.

Wrong. The idea behind republicans is to create alternatives that don’t create debt, and then if you don’t actually get enough money to retire, then you get social security as a safety net. This was the idea behind roth and SRA retirement funds. They would keep it the same for current retirees. People in our age group would then invest into a 401k plan of sorts with their tax dollars. If they needed additional retirement after the 9% average the dow has averaged since WWII they would be given it. The tax credit for investing in the $25,000 income range would be $3,328 per year, or at 8% annual interest 1.6 million dollars at retirement, and twice the pay of social security per year without draining that 1.6 million. Inflation adjusted, you can expect half that from social security.

Funny, That Iran thing is pretty high on Obama’s list.

      On immigration Bull.

On Nelson Mendela, shut the hell up. That is not ok to say. Learn respect.

Perhaps they should use the 1989 Health Care reform plan that was put forth by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation. This is the same plan that was argued by Newt Gingrich in 1994 and the Republicans in Congress in 2009 as an alternative to Obama’s universal health care proposal. Oh, wait. That conservative idea turned into Romneycare and Obamacare. Never mind.

Does anyone think that this law is not somewhat flawed? It may or may not be catastrophic, but it certainly is not perfect. Exploring alternatives or alterations to this law cannot be construed as a negative. Moody’s today changed their ratings on US Health Care insurers today to negative. The reason given was the number of high risk enrollees in the insurance exchanges. The naivete of the law was clearly revealed when it was authored to remove underwriting from the equation. You are all allegedly in insurance and should (and I am sure do) know that underwriting is the only way to match premium to exposure. Tragic as it may be, not all people (and things) are insurable. If they are insurable, underwriting must be employed to match a premium to the exposure represented. I was a Republican. I voted for Obama. Regret both decisions as the extremes in each party (that represent a tiny portion of our country) seem to dominate the policies and actions of the two parties. Independents are not an alternative as they get elected rarely. At least the Republicans (some of the more moderate ones) are trying to find a system to repair the damage done by this legislation. Perhaps we could embrace a move forward instead of squandering our energy on name calling, resentment, or hatred. Just a thought…..

Absolutely, but you won’t get any hatred from me. A little name calling and some resentment, sure. I resent Congress wasting the last 5 years and running their own agendas. I resent the “moral majority” judging others when they are a bunch of hypocrites. And I resent the fact that all Americans do not have equal access to quality healthcare.

This could be a positive step, but I am cautiously optomistic. I want to see them put their money where their mouth is and am afraid it may be a little too little too late.

    Blah blah blah.

The Republicans are for the insurance companies share holders.

The Republicans represent 85 of the richest people on this planet.

    That’s it.

    Don’t expect anything else.

So whatever legislation the so called “Tea Partiers” (they’re partiers all right) or Republicans introduce will only be for giving back millions of dollars to the insurers in profit. Make health insurance less affordable and harder to get.

    Remember this.

You the reader are more then likely not amoung the 85 they represent.

The Republican’s represent 85 people that are all for in controlling the masses in order to keep control of their wealth and never ending power.

They believe in the fear mongering that the planet is over populating on it’s own.

The truth be known that people only over populate in condensed, oppressed areas (i.e. cities).

There is no such thing as over population as long as there is death.

Do not fear the masses, embrace them.

Humanity would not exist at all if it weren’t for the masses.

The plague would have killed us all if the 85 richest idiots had their way then.

They may get their way soon.

    If their oppression continues.

      Blue Communist-
      * 85 people. Evidently you did not watch the election results. If the liar in charge wasn’t selling lies he would have lost.
*insurers making a profit- you are pointing at the wrong group. Blue Cross, Michigan recently said that they had CANCELLED 26 different type contracts because of Obamacare. That will be a 100 mill profit pick up for them. Oops 225,000 people lost their coverage- remember “you can keep your coverage”? Looks to me that it is Obama who is the health insurers friend.
*Tea Partiers? As opposed to the Occupy Wall Street dope smoking, Neanderthal deadbeats, pis*ing in parks, stabbing people Obama supporters. What a joke
*Fear mongering? Tell that to the families of the 3000 people who lost their lives on 9-11, or on the USS Cole, or the bombing of the US embassy in Lebanon, or the take over of the US embassy in Iran, or the 4 dead Navy Seals and the Embassy Ambassador in Benghazi. Remember Benghazi? That is the incident that Hillary Clinton said “what does it matter?
      * Fear mongering? You communist/ socialist fools embrace communism then rant when your one of the communist heroes Vladimer Putin prohibits homosexuality or expels illegals out of Russia because they are deemed a security risk to the country.

You should be glad that a lot of soldiers died so you lay on the constitution and freedom of speech.

Let me say this- I have NEVER met a soldier who enlisted to defend or fight for socialism or communism but I know a lot of them that died in order to let fools like you run their mouth.

Pretty sad to drop the dead soldier reference. Even sadder that so many of them had to fight in offensive wars that would benefit the rich. Even sadder than that is the lack of family foundation and family values in the South and rural parts of this county that still use the military as their way out of the “ghetto”.

what is sad is your lack of knowledge as to why they were put in harms way. Offensive wars? ha I suppose you are including Afghanistan where Obama escalated the war, increased troops and failed to withdraw troops like he promised, I mean lied about. Or Syria where Obama helped start a war? As far as family values? There are just as many or more enlisted from the rust belt and Northeast as there is anywhere else. I know. They are as happy to get out of NYC, Chicago, Detroit, South Los Angeles, Cleveland, Newark or Miami. Especially the hispanics and black recruits. Not necessarily the South. You don’t have a clue

No one is disparaging anyone’s military service but I sure as hell won’t salute any part of any militarized state. The South has a strong military tradition because that’s where we put most of our bases. Remember the reconstructionist period after the Civil war that your Pee Paw Jebidiah fought in. Remember why we went into war in the first place? We built military installations there to provide jobs for the Rebs and eventually build up their economy. In turn, the south decided that reading books, math, and science were no longer necessary because the government was going to provide jobs not to mention the amount of money the defense contractors would receive. Recruiters have goals they have to hit, and if they don’t they go overseas, they don’t want to do that so they recruit the bottom half of every high school class. Put quotas on something like that and you have real problems. These wars are offensive, for example after 9/11 we could have followed the money trail and went after as OJ would say, “find the real killers”. We didn’t do that because Dubya had bad intelligence. (Bush/Intelligence = Oxymoron) He had an ulterior motive and that was that just like most Republican Presidents, it’s “cool” to be a war time president. So what we do is get the country rallied around the troops. Go to a sporting event and you have to see camo-colored jerseys, corporate county music sings songs about the troops to increase sales. Donate to these “non profit” military charities and only portions are actually sent to the actual cause. It’s all a ploy to increase revenue across the board and that’s all. And at 6’4″ 240lbs Agent, you wouldn’t be sending me anywhere.

Sargeant, it is fairly well known that the Health Carriers have been in bed with Obama since before the ACA was passed. There have been numerous meetings at the White House with the CEO’s. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall at those meetings to see what the plan was going forward. One question might have been – Mr. President, what if we don’t get the enrollment we were looking for and just the old and sick sign up and the young people don’t? President says – Not to worry, I will bail you out if you get into trouble and are losing big time.

This appears to be what is happening since the Millenials sure aren’t signing up and only 11% of the truly uninsured are signing up.

Once again the knuckle dragging gop has to come up this as a solution?:

Instead of starting with a total repeal, Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin has suggested transition legislation that might initially eliminate some provisions such as mandatory coverage of maternity care and move people with pre-existing conditions into high-risk insurance pools.

No birth control and no maternity care? (they have already cut food stamps while expanding crop insurance) Who exactly should benefit from health care? Maybe the gop should talk to their wives, mothers and daughters… it would be a start!

No one said there will be NO maternity or birth control coverage. Just that if you want/need that coverage you should pay for it. While I’m not sure that birth control coverage actually adds cost to policies, it is a given that anyone who wants maternity coverage will have claims. Therefore, an additional charge for these coverages is reasonable.

It would be nice to know how much rates changed just with the addition of these two mandated coverages. However, with all the other changes mandated at the same time, it might take an actuary to answer that question.

Finally an intelligent post KYjw. Libby is going to attack you again for being a voice of reason. Choice is what it is all about. If an applicant does not want maternity, they should have the right to delete it for a reduction in premium, not be forced to take it for the exhorbitant rate charged. The one size fits all model of Obamacare is the very reason it is unaffordable for most Americans. The mandates are responsible for this failed model.

That right was taken away and no wonder premiums are outrageous and people like FFA & I have to have Maternity Coverage, Abortion, Birth Control to pay for other people. What a joke!

Until the biz community starts hiring back all the people that were laid off as well as pay them the salaries they made, then they should be paying the highest taxes. Look at all the 10K reports and look at the amount of cash these companies are raking in. It’s not from sales, it’s from lower payrolls. Now when people are being hired back, they are making far less money for the same job title. Cost of living isn’t getting any lower, the price of consumer goods isn’t getting any lower. You shouldn’t be rewarded with tax benefits in a profit driven society unless have cured cancer. Sell more products and make more money, that’s what capitalism is. Eliminate the tax breaks and tax cheats and you will eventually see taxes reduce. That is of course if we shut down all the senseless military bases we have world wide.

Many articles I have read state that the big corps are holding their cash because they are afraid of what oBama Care is going to do to them. I believe they already know (cut hours to part time only) and pay inflated ins premiums that oBama says are affordable. Sure they are affordable at the expense of the labor force. Gonna be higher premiums so the tax deduction will be higher. So the Govt is going to no only lose employment tax revenue, but the Employee Benefits Line on the tax return will beef up and the fed will lose more. Then the jack ass is gonna turn around and borrow more money furthering the problem and not solving it.

I’ve had to pay for maternity for many years, long before Obama was in the White House. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not one of his fans. But let’s get our facts straight. I also have to pay for a Republican congressman from Tennessee to get a $70,000 per year handout (welfare) from the government (in addition to his salary), even though he’s filthy rich. It’s otherwise known as a subsidy; I wonder how many hours a week he spends out in those fields, actually “farming”.

One thing holds true on my list, Majority are Dems and they are
from Chicago – Cook County in particular. Do I need to remind you where Obama cut his teeth?

And when I was in child bearing years, I gladly paid for Maternity. I like the whole “take care of my own” line of thinking vs the sponge off of everyone else because I am too lazy to actually get a job Obama way of thinking.

Hey FFA. Joyful news! Oklahoma has introduced an Obamacare nullification bill similar to South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana and hopefully many more to follow. The bill states that no employee of state government may implement or use state funds to implement Obamacare. It is the Feds baby all the way. I wonder what would happen if the 36 states that opposed this travesty all passed the same thing. Texas legislature is out of session right now or they would probably do the same. Perhaps Perry should call a Special Session to take it up.

I see a strong element of denial here, on the part of my liberal friends. Just what do you expect to happen, if the exchange insurers take a collective bath in red ink? It does appear that the healthy middle class, whose jacked-up premiums were intended to offset the costs of caring for the seriously ill, have largely been priced out of the exchanges, leaving the insurers with disproportionate numbers of the sick and/or subsidized. Don’t take my word for it: The Aetna site will tell you that an unsubsidized Texas couple, age 50, can expect to pay $628 a month for a policy with a deductible of $5,500 for each, and $816 a month for a lower deductible of $3,500 each. Such couples will try to get by without insurance, while the less disfavored enjoy subsidized coverage. Conservatives don’t need an alternative “plan.” It’s just a matter of time before it becomes obvious to all that the insurers will not remain in the exchanges unless the public makes good their losses, pursuant to these arcane “risk corridors.” (See Explaining ‘Risk Corridors,’ the Next Obamacare Issue, WSJ, 1-22-14.) Any such proposed payments will, of course, be condemned as a “bailout.” We’re talking political suicide here. But continue with your merriment. We will bide our time, and see you on election day.

No natural gas in my house. The whole concept makes me nervous. On the other hand, my electricity is supplied by coal fired plants. I do like my cheap electricity, but it comes at a cost to the areas where the coal is mined. Strip mining and mountaintop removal create eyesores in KY.

Although, I vaguely remember reading an article in the Lexington paper that natural gas will be used at electric plants built in the future. So, I will be an indirect customer some day.

KYjw, in Texas where there has been strip mining for lignite coal, the mining companies go in and landscape and restore the land, plant trees and other vegetation after it is mined so it won’t be an eyesore. Too bad if Kentucky doesn’t make them do that up there.

No, the coal companies “donate” the land to the state. Well, at least one location was donated. I think some places were “reclaimed” somehow, but I’m not sure. KYjw, the coal companies didn’t own the land in Texas. They leased it for mining with the contract being they had to reclaim it when they were through mining. It has worked well and you can hardly tell any mining went on in these areas. I had an insured who got a contract with them for reclaiming it. Interesting comment FFA. I always thought the cold fronts came down from Canada. Our weatherman keeps telling us the cold fronts are coming from there to affect us. Perhaps the humid air from the south met the cold air from the north to give all that snow and the Vortex from Global Warming caused by man is the culprit. Poor Planet thinks it is the jet stream caused by man has changed to bring on these patterns. No wonder the Wooly Mammoth is extinct now.

JW, According to the folks I know that work there, Rust has said he will not move Corp out of IL.

Writing on the wall, not yet. Gonna maintain a small essential Corp office in Bloomington. But people are being transferred. Rust may be pulling an oBama. One thing for sure, bloomington unemployment rate that typically skews the state rate down is going to jump causing a jump in the state rate that has been running 2% higher then the national average.

Wonder if Allstate & Country Companies are paying attention???

lost 1500 jobs in the office max deal. 6000 on Dominics. Meanwhile, Springfield sits there collecting their pay checks…

As far as Office Max goes, they had a “Bill” they were passing threw the system that never got presented to Quinn that would give them a break to HQ in IL. Session ended with out a vote. Not at the very least putting the effort into saving the 1500 jobs is there fault. Instead of gaining the Office Depot Corp Jobs, they let 1500 Office max jobs walk without even trying to save them.

Pennys – Bad Management – Poor Economy. Dominics- I honestly don’t know what happened there. I was fed Dominick food from my mid teens through my late 40’s.
I dont hold Springfield accountable for them. They seem to be in denial about State Farm. I blame them for that. Bloomington Area drags the IL Unemployment rate down by two points. With out the major employer, its just gonna get worse here state wide.

Witht the shrinking population of IL, why do we need so many state senators and house members?

Have you noticed any of the commercials New York is making? They are saying if you open a new business in NY, you won’t pay any taxes for 10 years. ???? Could this be a reaction to business leaving that state? Cuomo said Conservatives weren’t welcome in that state anymore. Guess what Governor, businesses are mostly Republican entrepreneurs. Planet, can your brain be actually shrinking in size? Perhaps you should have a new IQ test to see if you have declined to the Idiot range. The earth has been having changes in weather patterns longer than man has been here. It is not due to man being here to affect it. So what if the jet stream changes from time to time. That is what it does. We are now having a Polar Vortex in parts of the country. So what! We have always had these natural things happen. In the 30’s there was a hot period and we had the dust bowl in the mid west. No one blamed Global Warming back then. In a few years, it reversed and the area blossomed again. I have found that weathermen can’t predict the weather 2 days in advance. They just grin at the camera and say they told us there was only a 30% chance of rain and it didn’t develop. With all their technology in satellites etc, they are no better than the weahtermen of the 50’s.

So, you can’t tell us the difference between weather and climate, then? Okay, didn’t think so. Once you educate yourself on the difference, I’d like you to tell us what the CLIMATE has done in the last 100 years compared to previous geological record. You can consult with the 98% of scientists who have proven time and time again climate change is a fact. Not the 2% of scientists I see and hear on Faux News. Then, correlate what CLIMATE has done in those last 100 years to how humankind has changed (become more industrialized – hint). Finally, ask yourself what it means to be a steward of the planet and in what ways can you do a better job of that. The planet is going to be around a lot longer than humans are, after all. And, it is a living thing. So, it needs nurtured.

Do you have any evidence that the seas are rising or the Polar Bears are nearing extinction? How about those Global Warming nuts who went to Antartica expecting to see penguins basking in warm water only to get stuck in the thickest ice in decades and had to be rescued? Even the ice breakers couldn’t get to them and they had to ferry them out on choppers. That ship may be there for a long time.

I don’t necessarily think that telling people that they’re going to develop an alternative without presenting a solution is really the course that anyone should be following. While people are getting strung along on “what we’re *going* to do” the fact still remains that there are people out here whose lifestyles are not in sync with what the ACA covers and thus makes it a burden for people to have to pay for those sorts of provisions. I think for me and for many others living their lives along religious or biblical principles, medical bill sharing with others of a like-minded faith is a much better alternative.

Well, that kind of a solution would go against the very founding of this country (religious freedom). If you’d like a solution based on a specific religion, you may want to find a country religiously ruled by your beliefs. And, guess what? It will have a form of single payer (if it is First World), so you will be sharing with others of a like-minded faith.

I saw an article this morning on the Nielson ratings of State of the Union speeches. In Obama’s first year (09), everyone watched since he was new and to get an idea where he would be coming from. Ratings have steadily declined each year since then. This year may be the lowest on record. A new poll has him with a 37% approval rating. Wow, what a roaring success story. Planet and Boogereater will be in rapture.

Those opposing the bill insist that an individual mandate has never been done and the framers would simply not permit such an encroachment on liberty and freedom.

Some spectacular historical reporting by Professor Einer Elhauge of Harvard Law School in the New Republic thoroughly rebut the argument. He has found three mandate equivalents passed into law by the early Congresses—in which a significant number of founders served—and reports that these bills were signed into law by none other than Presidents George Washington and John Adams. As Founders go, one might consider them pretty senior in the hierarchy. Their acts can probably be relied upon to give us a reasonable idea what the Founders intended to be the scope of congressional and governmental power.

Amazingly, the examples of individual mandates passed by the founders are so directly applicable that the claim that original intent precludes affirming the heath care act should become almost laughable:

In 1790, a Congress including 20 Founders passed a law requiring that ship owners buy medical insurance for their seamen. Washington signed it into law.
In 1792, another law signed by Washington required that all able-bodied men buy a firearm. (So much for the argument that Congress can’t force us to participate in commerce.)
And in 1798, a Congress with five framers passed a law requiring that all seamen buy hospital insurance for themselves. Adams signed this legislation.

In aggregate, these laws show that the Founders and the Congress of the time were willing to force all of us to participate in a particular act of commerce and were comfortable requiring both the owner of a business and the individual employee to buy insurance in order to assure that health costs would be covered at a societal level. That is a pretty complete rebuttal to all the claims being made by the originalists as they relate to the health care act.

Focusing on NE Iowa currently. I like the fact Des Moines is growing community. But I dont want to be too close to any big town. I would like about 2000 sq feet ranch with a basement and 5 acres. My wife put down the law “I want a creek on the property”.

Checking into Tax Rates ect…. Found a house for sale along the lines I just laid out minus the creek. I just may be able to sell my little 1200 sq ft house on a 50 x 150 lot for more then I would pay for the one I have on my radar…

Ecclesiastes 10:2 – The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Thus saith the Lord, Amen

Spelling Lesson – The last four letters in American ….I can

FFA, the loudest and longest applause at the State of the Union was for the soldier who was severely wounded and has had a difficult road to recovery since. He and many others like him are the reason we are a free country. The leftists on this site like Boogereater, Libby, Planet should thank him for the freedom of speech even if they are ungrateful for soldiers making the supreme sacrifice. Sargeant and I are also veterans from the Viet Nam era and we did the same service although many on the left like the traiterous Hanoi Jane Fonda liked to hob nob with the Commies and hate America.

You weren’t even in country during Vietnam, so what do you know about sacrifice? My father was three times the soldier you ever dreamt of being. And I am anything but ungrateful for his or anybody elses service. Keep your filthy mouth shut on this subject.

Agent, that will always be the loudest applause because it’s scripted. Again all the more reason to not use the military as a pawn for political or profit gain. We aren’t under attack on a daily basis and the credo that we fight them away so we don’t fight them at home is a farce. Those are exactly the offensive wars I speak of. Vietnam was a travesty and I still can not fathom how fast a life can be ruined when you are graduating high school on Friday and in the jungle in a matter of weeks, that war should have never involved the US nor should Iraq, Afghanistan, and let’s hope not Iran. We could have held the gun to the Saudis and followed the money trail that was left like bread crumbs. This isn’t hind sight, this was foresight. If we went after Bin Ladin from the get go, and not preoccupied ourselves with Iraq, we probably would have been in and out with a lot less collateral damage. But again, I guess I’m just using history and not keeping it to yes/no.

I think we lost around 47,000 in that fiasco. Soldiers go where they are told to go. When they get back, they should be shown respect, not hate from the likes of you. Yes, Vietnam veterans were spat upon, called baby killers and every other vile name in the book by people you agree with.

Absolutely they should be shown respect but the republicunts doesn’t own the military, they own the contractors that make profit off war. Soldiers shouldn’t be told where to go because they should be fighting in these wars to begin with. They have nothing to do with our interested or our responsibility. Talk about needing to wane the needy of ‘Murrica’s jugs. We cater to the foreign aid because we’ve jumped at every chance to get into war that we could. You have to stop looking back at history all the time. But then again, Nixon wasn’t the best leader we had during that crisis either. Too busy making the Nixon Tapes and Watergate, too busy causing massive inflation by removing us from the gold standard. Those were all responsible actions though right?

I wonder if they forced the seamen to have maternity benefits, birth control or abortion coverage if they didn’t want it. He had to dig real deep to find this one. Libby, why am I not surprised you would like Wendy Davis? The last time I checked, Bristol Palin or Rush Limbaugh was not running for governor of a state with the 14th largest economy in the entire world. My guess is she will get a much lower percent of the vote than Bill White who was swamped by a 2-1 margin against Perry. Even the women in this state don’t like or trust her sorry butt. She really has nothing to run on so she just keeps screaming and making up things to run down an honorable man.

Second, you can not speak for all the women in Texas. She did have a REPUBLICAN woman, Betty Haskins, come to her defense saying:

“If this involved a man running for office, none of this would ever come up,” Haskins told the Star-Telegram. “It’s so sad. Every time I ran, somebody said I needed to be home with my kids. Nobody ever talks about men being responsible parents.”

Third – Hher Republican opponent is clearly the one launching a smear campaign to run down an honorable woman. Not vice-versa.

As a leader and not a follower, I see where this guy would like to takes us but can’t because of the wannabee 1% which makes up a hefty majority of the right. Taxes pay for the military that you covet so much, it keeps getting bigger. The tax code is rigged so that business owners and corporations subsidize their personal lives in to their businesses thus creating a large deficit. There is no more middle class which should be the class with all the power. Corporations are holding on to their money because they do not want to see this man be President as they play follow the leader. This is why joining fraternities is bad, because you lose your ability to reason on an individual basis as well as under qualified drones obtain positions of power based on nepotism rather than their own credentials. Over time, the power escalates upward as fascism prevails for this is not a socialist movement here. As most conservatives like to rub one out to the ideology of dead presidents, you would think they would take the advice of George Washington and remain isolationists. We bombed the snot out of Germany and Japan, this allowed for the rebuild of both nations. Look at where they are in relation to where were are now. Darth Reagan decided to take us in a different direction. Rocky IV was a great movie go USA beat USSR! We still haven’t cured cancer yet. We don’t want to either because there is a lot of money to be made selling for Big Pharma. These are the expectations the US would have. You know, the nation that flew to the moon first. Fly to Japan and it’s like flying into the future. Fly back to the States and you are in a time machine going backward. Math and Science man, schooling this is the focus and that is what will get us back to where we belong.

Do you see the Economy Rebounding?

Do you see this guy bringing back the jobs that left the country?

Do you see the US continuing to support AlQuida fighters in Syria?

Do you think we are better off with him or with out him?

Do you view him to be an honest man?

Ok, i get it now, just like a 2 year old one of their favorite words is NO!. Time to go to bed..NO!, eat your carrots..NO! Most conservatives have dinosaur sized brains due to a lack of evolution so I understand and maybe we can turn this into a disability and get you a rascal scooter too.

Obama Care just started – I don’t think the Wright Brothers were successful on their first attempt at flight. Apple sure has hell wasn’t successful right from the get go – Party of NO

Economy would rebound with people going back to work that are unemployed, and those that lost their jobs and took new jobs but with a massive pay cut all to avoid unemployment. The money is there, again look at any 10K report. A business leader would want to get the economy going and not adhere to a party agenda. A follower would do just the opposite so they could have a locker next to their man crush at the country club.

As far as jobs that left the country, outside of the cost of production, we will not see them return to the numbers we had simplpy because we do not have the skilled worked for we used to have. Again, math and science will be required in order to achieve those goals. Certain people don’t want to pull their weight in that category. Less US college students are studying the STEM majors and our current workforce has largely worked in a service based economy. With the retirement of the Baby Boomers we do not have enough skilled labor and knowlege based candidates to replace what we will lose. As far as the business community, we have used the MBA as the measure of academic success, one that which college students are getting their MBA immediately after obtaining their under grad degree. An MBA is an executive level degree designed for the individual that has worked their way up the ladder and has significant management experience. In this ADD world we live in now, these people do not have the true and proven leadership abililty that is required to direct the major sectors of our economy.

As far as bringing home the troops, don’t see it happening. We went into these wars with out a plan, and everything since has been ad libbed. We will have troops there like we do all over the rest of the world forever.

Are we better with him or without him? We are at a point where we have to break even. Any plan he puts together is shot down before it even has a chance. Even if it’s a plan that was taken from the Republicans. As is any thing financial, negatives always compound harder and faster than the positives do. It can take you an hour to climb to the top of a tree but it only takes seconds to fall to the ground. You can dust yourself off and start the climb back up, but now it will take you 2 hours to climb to the top.

I absolutely see him as an honest man. As long as any one is looking out for the poor and the middle class they are an honest person. Just as anyone that is looking to give people a chance at being rich. Anyone only looking out for the net profits of the rich and the old money in this country is a dishonest person.

Hey FFA, You may have noticed that Boogereater views Obama as “absolutely an honest man”. Is this a statement of a drunk on Koolaid true believer or what? Obama is the biggest fraud that has ever been in office and has told the American people hundreds of whoppers in the past 5 years. The biggest have been on Obamacare and are well documented. Frank Luntz dissected his speech last night and had the graph of Republicans & Democrats. When he made his last brief pronouncement about Healthcare, the graph plunged to the bottom on Republicans & Democrats. That is a sure sign the people don’t believe him anymore on anything. He is a lame duck now and threatens to use the pen to implement his agenda. That is dangerous territory and I hope he does something to bring on Impeachment soon.

That’s what these soldiers that come from meager beginnings are really fighting for. The wealthy soldiers aren’t fighting for you, they live on a base in Germany or Japan. Where would we be without entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others who had an idea, worked their butts off, made a success, employed hundreds of thousands of employees who make excellent salaries with benefits? Almost all the major inventions of the past two hundred years emanated from America and yes they created Billionaires. So what, the benefit of having these dreamers have made the country the envy of the world. By the way, I would bet my quarterly taxes are more than the tax bill of Libby & Booger combined for a year.

FFA, on the Northwestern issue, the school is located close to Chicago, isn’t it? Perhaps they saw the settlement with the NFL on concussions of pro players and figured they could get some of that action. One concussion may equal $500,000, the second could be $1million. Could set them up for life until they have to pay the tax bill.

            Agent,

It’s not called a war on success, it’s called a war on the facsists that take away the battle for success. Some of us had the displeasure of working for large hedge funds like AIG, spending countless hours traveling on the road weeks out of every month, relocating numerous times in various regions of the country. They capitalized their gains and ultimately socialized their losses with an enormous bail out. All because they were allowed to buy up systematically important risks that would have surely put us into depression if we didn’t bail them out. They have yet to accept responsibility for facilitating the crash of ’08 by providing insurance products to protect against ridiculous gambles. But it’s fun being a P&C agent, doing the level of work I did when I was 22-25, making at best a 1/3 of the base salary that I used to make, not including the production bonus that I received along with my staff. At least I have time to make numerous posts daily. It’s just as fun being over qualifed, over productive, over experienced, and over educated for most jobs that you apply for, knowing that the person that you are interviewed by can’t hire you because you would most likely be their replacement.

Unions have poisoned the well of our society as far back as I can remember. They must be getting desperate since they are losing membership in so many states up north. Obamacare is doing a number on their Cadillac plans as well. Can you imagine going to an exchange policy from one of those cushy plans that pays nearly everything with only a small co-pay?

There has been a movement to get college athletes paid while going to college. I guess they want to treat this as a minor league training for the pros. Unfortunately, only a small percent are ever good enough to make the NFL. The ones who aren’t smart enough to get their education end up washing cars or getting into trouble. Did you know that Curt Warner was working in a supermarket doing menial work until he caught on with the Arena league, then the Rams and finishing up with the Cardinals? Since he retired, he got a gig on TV as a football analyst.

I think they should be happy playing. If they get hurt, they should be taken care of. The revenues sports generate help keep the cost of tuition down.

If the union has their way, watch that cost go up and watch scholarships disappear. No wonder they pick IL to push their agenda. Its the 4th most unionized state in the nation.

For your information Agent, I was a Corporate Trainer in 2008 making 6 figures. Was laid-off due to the economy and the fact my job was not attached to revenue. I was lucky enough to find a job 9 months later making 2/3 what I was making in 2008.

I left that job to come to Pennsylvania to marry my husband. Not exactly the same job market in rural PA as is in Denver, CO. I now make 75% of my last job, which is half my pre-2008 wage.

          And I am that good.

How about his “wife” who said falsely her biggest regret was Benghazi. She only regrets being caught in an obvious lie about Benghazi. These are all great parents, right? She should get Obama to appoint Chelsea to Ambassador to Libya. After all, what possible difference does it make now?

Perhaps you can find one of those large agents who will buy yours for the book of business and markets. In our area, a couple of large agents do most of their growing by absorbing smaller agents. Sometimes the agent being bought stays and sometimes not. The big agent figures they will lose some clients, but retain most of them.

Well, I know you are in a compressed area and have several states in close proximity. Are you licensed in Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin as well as Illinois? Me, I have all I can handle just with Texas. I have gotten a non-resident license for Arkansas and Louisiana when I had an insured move some operations over there, but it is a hassle and generally, the friendly agent that writes the business doesn’t want to split commissions. I prefer to just stay put in this state. By the way, did you hear the Senate just passed a Flood Bill and Agent license bill? Pretty soon, we may have to have a Federal License at another expense to the agency so Obama can regulate us even more. I can see him adding a few thousand bureaucrats to take this on.

Wow FFA, you must be up to your eyeballs in non-resident licensing. Do you have to take tests to get licensed in those states? Louisiana is a tough one down here. They are still operating under Napoleonic law there. You never want to have an at fault accident there. They keep their lawyers number in their wallet and call them before calling the Police. A fender bender is like a major accident there. They come squalling out of their car holding their neck and it is all over for the out of state driver.

    From Ted Nugent FB Page:
State of the union huh? Really? It is so very heartbreaking that so many Americans have stumbled in lockstep in the tragic dumbing down and sheeping of America to actually applaud and believe the most dishonest propaganda speech America has ever witnessed. Pick a talking point, any talking point, and the Chicago ACORN scammaster smoke and mirrors czar delivered classic deception for the low information masses. Listen carefully. He’s said it all before, and in every case, he does just the opposite and things get worse every step of the way. His beloved “middle class” and blacks have it worse now than since he took office, and the sheep just keep on grazing. Sad America. Really, really sad. And we would also like to thank the GOP for nothing. State of the union indeed. -Ted Nugent

Joe fixed clogged pipes, but in a different way. His parents were prominent republicunts in his local area. When they found out he was hiding salami in warm buns specifically not at a deli, he was sent to a camp that would change all that. I believe Michelle Batshitman or something like that has a husband that specializes in changing boys to men. For awhile he grew a goatee, wore flannel shirts like all mavericks do. Only problem was he still looked like an updated version of the Village People. The rock eaters ate this up, he was just like they were. Held on to every word he said, voted in which ever way he told them to and now they have posters of him wearing nothing but work boots and a flannel shirt. Today he lives happily in a log cabin with some guy named Bruce.

Congratulations boogereater. We give you the new award for lowest down blogger on IJ. Why don’t you go over and blog on MSNBC’s site and you will be right at home. Libby, if you agree with him, join him. The two of you make quite a pair.

I do agree with him and find his commentary witty and hilarious. You’re just too dense to enjoy it.

Libby, you like nauseating nasty language and that tells us a lot about your personality. You leftists are all alike. Can’t win an argument so you attack Conservatives and call them Homophobic. How fitting. I guess you need another dose of Bob.

          Thank you, thank you.

I’d first like Agent for being by inspiration. You are to me what Ronnie Reagan is to you. None of this could happen with out you. Because I dedicate this award to you, it will trickle down to all the other mouth breathers, booger eaters, and knuckle draggers because you all share the same mind.

Second, I like to give a shout out to Texico. With out all your good ‘ole boy tomfoolery I don’t know where I would get my humor from.

Now it’s time to head off to Niggerhead Ranch for some R&R.

          Hee Haw and God Bless

I agree Libby. All Obama’s speech writers have to do is tweak the teleprompter a little each year and go on the internet to plagiarize a former President’s speech from 2007. There aren’t any new ideas coming from this Administration. They just keep on doing the same things over and over and hoping for a different result. The problem is that Socialism hasn’t ever worked in the history of the world. All they do is spend other people’s money until it is all gone and then blame someone else for the problem.

When Bush was in office, they used to have a clown that stood behind the crowd. He would try to hold cue cards up but Dubs couldn’t read. So instead, the clown would make balloon animals, and do magic tricks. That’s why he would always say “heh heh” during his speeches.

quinn gave the state of the state. Could have summed it up in one word. Sorry!
Pushing this progressive tax in a state that already taxes more then most. Thats the way to do it, tax the people that create jobs. Wonder how many more are on their way out. Yahooo!!! Hes got 200 jobs coming in. Lets see = way less employment then ever. Yea, lets raise taxes. Sure, why not.

FFA, Texas is due to have a $13 Billion surplus when they convene again and we have no state income tax. All programs are funded, but we didn’t set up an exchange and we refused to expand Medicaid to absorb all the losses that program generates. By the way, we have it going on with energy production. That is where the serious tax income comes in. All across the south part of the state to the Midland-Odessa Permian basin is doing extremely well. Now, if we can just keep those illegals from swimming the river to claim their benefits, we will do even better.
