I agree with trimming Food Stamps since it has been shown to be abused and fraud is rampant. People on Food Stamps should have to pass a drug test and prove their income level. No flat screens, no rims for their Escalade will qualify. We can also dispense with paying large farmers for not growing crops to keep the grocery bill artificially high.

Crop insurance is just another form of welfare.
But this time it’s welfare for private businesses.
Government should not be in the business of picking winners or losers.
If government is going to help guarantee that farmers don’t lose money in bad years it ought to do the same for all businesses.
When my business has a good year, I put money aside because I know that next year may be a bad year.
Farmers should learn to do the same.
There is absolutely NO REASON WHY RICH FARMERS SHOULD BE GUARANTEED ANYTHING BY THE GOVERNMENT.

If crop insurance is a good idea….PAY FOR IT YOURSELF…JUST LIEK ALL THE OTHER BUSINESSES IN THE US

    This is America….Not SOCIALIST CHINA

Why is it ok to subsidize wealthy farmers but not homeowners’ flood insurance. The NFIP is, like most government agencies, inefficient, negligent and lacking any type of accountability and oversight. Has an analysis been done to determine how many premium dollars have come in compared to the payments made? Why does the NFIP not keep their surpluses in years they accumulate them? Why were payments made from NFIP funds to cover homeowners that were not policy-holders?

Lastly, why are insurance companies allowed commissions of up to 60% of premiums? I smell a rat here.

If Congress subsidizes farmers, then they have to subsidize flood.
