Sargeant, yesterday Obama had the French Prime Minister Hollande, his fellow economy ruiner with him and they were touring Jefferson’s home at Monticello. Obama was heard to say on tape that he was the President and he could do whatever he wanted. How arrogant was that? Hollande is a real sweetheart as well. He taxes the wealthy in France to the tune of 70%. No wonder their economy is in the toilet and money is fleeing there. He is right at home with Obama.

Does anyone on the right understand context? If you honestly believe he was not joking, you are hopeless. He was referring to going against protocol while visiting a national landmark, not running the government.

Based on other statements he has made and the State of the Union address, it was very poor timing to make that comment.

FFA, Wesley Snipes tried that and it got him a stay at the pen. I think he was made an example of. If he were Mark Rich during the Clinton Administration, he would have been pardoned and Rich was the biggest tax cheat in history. By the way, Eric Holder was instrumental getting Rich pardoned. I wonder how much he got for that.

The President is responsible for executing the laws. That is why it is called the Executive branch of government. I see you are assisting BObama in not taking responsibility, as is his habit. The IRS is not changing the law on a weekly basis, the president is.

For our next president I will vote for anyone who promises and pledges to uphold our Constitution.

DougJ – I see you have no knowledge of how our government works. Obama signed the law into effect. After that, it’s implementation is the responsibility of the IRS.

It’s the implementation that is changing. Not the law itself. Delaying a mandate is not CHANGING the law. It is delaying implementation of a portion of the law.

This is perfectly legal (were it not, surely the POTUS would be impeached) and has been utilized by other administrations in the implementation of many other laws.

Perhaps a civics lesson would be in order.

Libby, the link you supplied doesn’t work – comes up as “link is broken.” Besides, I’m not asking for what in the Internal Revenue Code authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury (and not the President, you will note) to do something. I’m asking for specific examples of past administrations, from George Washington to George W. Bush, delaying the implementation of specific laws (you said it has happened before, so give examples). Are you the one who now can’t read?? And by the way, some of those links about the president saying “I can do what I want” on Google were many hours old, available way before you even posted here and said you “couldn’t find anything.”

As amazing as it would be to have it here, I’m not so sure about Chicago being the best place to have the Olympics this winter. I can barely tolerate walking from the train to my office. I can’t even imagine trying to sit through an event in this weather! Although, it would probably be really good business for the local hospitals – they’d be packed with die-hard Olympic-goers suffering from frostbite and hypothermia.

Although, it’s a balmy 19 degrees today. Looks like we’re getting a heat wave! ;)

Yeah, it’s colder by us than downtown, too. This morning, it was about 2 above in the city, but -10 at home.

My husband drives a Sprinter van for work, and has struggled with getting it to start every morning. During the first “Polar Vortex,” it completely froze up. It took three days and above zero temps to finally get it running again. He’s now started leaving a battery blanket on it overnight, and going out to start it every couple of hours if he has any hopes of getting out in the morning.

I am so done with this weather. I’ve never been a big fan of the heat, but summer can’t get here soon enough!

Both tossed out by the rest of the world.

Hockey is my favorite team sport; yes my daughter knows this and loves me anyway. Although, I’m starting to appreciate soccer. I love the European leagues. Fun to watch! I just like that all these people are playing the sport they love and representing their country. It’s awesome, no matter which sport they play.

I think the pros should stay home.

I love team sports, too. But I don’t think they belong in the Olympics. The Olympics, to me, is about personal skill, stamina, and dedication. Pitting one man against another; i.e. track, triathaon, skiing, skating, swimming, luge, shockput, etc. Team sports have too many variables that affect the outcome.

And yes, the pros should stay home.

It’s about playing for your country. Being proud of who you represent. The spirit of the olympics is about coming together to compete. Athletes compete against each other even in team events. To me, the coordination of a team is just as important as the individual performances. Team events are just as indicative of athletic ability.

All just my opinion; it really doesn’t matter to the IOC or anyone else.

Sargeant, do you get the Property Casualty 360 newsletter? A story today that Detroit is the most expensive place in the country to write Auto insurance. I wonder why. Grand Rapids came in third. You must be cleaning up writing Personal Auto up there. My customers scream if Texas rates are a third of what is being charged up there. Our problem is Homeowners down here since we are a weather state. I guess it evens out.

Hello Agent, Yes I get it and I did see the article. I can tell you why Detroit has the highest auto rates in the country. It is because the 97% of the Detroit people who voted for Obama are the same group who commit one of if not the highest car jacking rates in the country, one of the highest theft rates in the country (if not the highest), Detroit- Wayne county is one of the liability hell holes. If you have an accident and you HAVE insurance the cost of the claim goes way up. Additionally, they have one of, if not the highest rate of insurance fraud in the country etc, etc. This is the same group that thinks Sarah Palin was BO’s running mate.
The problem with that is that the counties that have a border with Wayne Co- Detroit (like my county/town) suffer and insurers charge more to us. Guilt by association. Get outside of Detroit and it is a beautiful, great place to live and raise a family. That said, there is a lot going on in the city so hopefully more of the dregs will get the broom.

Are there any mountains up there in Chicagoland to have Alpine or Downhill skiing or would they have to transfer the events to Canada to show them?

By the way, if you had a Group of 105 employees, they have to implement. If the Group has 95 employees, they get a break from complying for another year. The Individual market gets no break at all and have to go into the wonderful exchanges or accept Medicaid where the majority of applicants are going. Isn’t this just great?

Did they fire you for malfeasance? Chumps like me never asked for funding my business. We bought the agency smartly from the prior owner and paid him off by giving commission to him for 3 years on business he personally wrote. Funny thing, we lost almost none of that business and it has led to our profit year after year.

Tell that to anyone with a pre-x condition, someone who was not able to previously secure coverage, or someone who had their limits exhausted. The mandate sucks and you are right, that doesn’t poll well. But, all the benefits of the PPACA poll well. Problem is, President Obama bought into the conservative approach of the including the mandate. Should have just been Medicare for all, single payer, or at least, a public option. Instead, President Obama chose the Heritage Foundation’s plan. So much for being a radical liberal. Guy swings right of Reagan in many cases. Reagan couldn’t win the nomination with the current conservatives running the show. And, I mean the real Reagan. Not the trumped up Saint Reagan version that lives only in myth.

Proper Premium for the Risk. He could have worked in that system. Based on what is going on in my agency with ACA, no way these premiums hold. Premium can not support the claims. One bill on my wife burned through three months of premium… Just the hospital bill. No doc. No Radiology. Now, they are sending her for another MRI. Add a 4th RX this week to the list. There are some ski hills in Southern WI. Alpine Valley comes to mind. Also got Devils Head, Christmas Mountain and Cascade out side the dells. Stevie Ray Vaughn died there after a concert when his Helo crashed. But I dont think they are 2.12 miles long. We do have a ski jump up the river. They launch off the ramp into the river to practice.

But no – no mountains. Just cold all year long. Talking wind chills down to 20 below tonight.

Let’s see, mandate delayed until 2016? Gee, would that have anything to do with the upcoming elections? Obama must have took a calculator and figured out the impact on employees working in these firms. Then figured that the voters would sway to the Democrats if they did NOTHING on this wonderful piece of legislation (I am being facetious here). Then when the election is over and the employees come out from under the ether they get hit but it will be too late. The rest of Obama’s voters can’t read or don’t listen to the radio or watch TV so they would vote mindlessly anyway.

So, I saw a couple of things today including one on CNN that said and get this:

*CNN reported that a new study by the congressional budget office (CBO) said there would be imminent financial problems in the US if something is not done to reduce the US debt which is now at 17.3 trillion and running. This would include US Bond Default (Never happened in history of US), Credit downgrade etc. DUH

Second, an article that said that 50% of the Obamadoesn’tcare enrollees have not paid anything for the insurance they signed up for and those that have paid are not the best risk class.

Third, The Federal Government (current administration) has spent more time developing a website that still does not work and is not secure, than time we spent winning World War two.

Unbelievable- That should make those Democrats proud.

Once the government declares war on its citizens whether individually or en masse, the citizens have no chance. If a government agency, like the IRS, decides to investigate you, you would not be able to afford the cost of fighting a long battle that they could draw out forever, if need be. This is why we need to have an honest governmental system on which we can rely. Because our founders knew all too well that human beings, being imperfect and possessing a natural desire to control when given the opportunity, they built checks and balances into our system of government and tied it all together with the Bill of Rights. Sad to say, the left has been whittling away at this for some 100 years here and this latest Obamacare change is but one example of a presidency that is moving towards dictatorial power so that once the “transformation’ is complete, all power is concentrated at the top, elected representatives being relegated to window dressing.
