Cute, Libby. I thought the same thing!! The adds are entertaining though and, I guess if you remember them, you remember who they represent. Remember the guys in the car with the smelly couch???

I think their writers create Geioco’s ads.

$1B? Wonder what rate of return they are getting on that expense. The ads are entertaining (mostly) but do they ‘drive’ enough new business?

Should be interesting when Warren checks out and advertising goes to the bottom line how much will be spent. It says a lot about our society that ads featuring lizards and pigs can generate insurance sales.

GEICO is now #1 in Florida as the result of the ads. My rates with GEICO are 1/3 the rate quoted by 21st Century, the Allstate clone.

Surprised to see that Progressive isn’t mentioned in this article. I thought they were always the #2 advertiser. They have to be a very close #4.

The more Geico treats insurance like a the more folks want an agent to help. No client saves 15% because there is no agent involved. The acquisition of the client costs the same regardless of the distribution system selected by the company. Progressive still gets 65% of it’s business from agents. Here in WA Geico underwrites the policy after issue, which if all the info from the client is not disclosed there is an uprate to the policy. Hey if you throw enough at the wall some will stick.

Geico customer conversation about a claim denial:
    Client: “My claim was denied!”
Friend of Client: “There’s your 15% savings!”

Makes you wonder where their priorities are regarding spending.

this is where all your premiums go towards paying for because it’s sure not for claims service or all of those imaginary GEICO AGENTS running around out there all over everyone’s neighborhood. Saturation at it’s worst with the most lame insurance commerical in the history of advertising. What a catastrophic waste of money.

Catastrophic? That’s kind of a strong word. Maybe excessive. Maybe unusually high. Maybe even wasteful, but catastrophic? No.

GEICO is truly buying its book of business – not earning it!

WELL maybe next time when Warren Buffet pays for a persons car repairs when they get into a accident he might have enough money to buy new parts instead of salvage parts to repair people’s new cars! They are all big rip offs!

I think Gieco commercials suck and Mr Buffett should have his #%&$ chopped off for running them 2000 a day.
