The law as it is written states that only people that have State Exchanges set up are eligible for Subsidy.
The Govt has ignored that. Why can they ignore the law as they wrote it and not me?
What kind of leadership do we have when they ignore the law they wrote themselves and then enforce on you and I?

Here we are 4 years into this and still arguing over every provision of this law. Perhaps our legislators should have read it before they voted on it. Nothing good comes out of a law that was passed in a thoroughly partisan way. Nothing good comes out of a law where votes had to be bought or coerced/threatened in order to get it passed. Shame on Congress and shame on our fearless leader ramming this down the throat of the American People. I hope they pay the ultimate rejection in November. The country has never been this divided before.

            @Libby
Huh? The south’s gonna do it again? Read your history. 7 States voted for secession. South Carolina then requested that the then US Army leave Charleston. They refused, and bottle necked the Harbor by fortifying their position in Ft Sumpter.

Sounds a bit similar to current events doesn’t it?

Would happen again too, if we Southerners do as you ask (again and again and again) and vote for secession.
Truth is you’d attack, legal or not, when you ran out of oil…but I’m sure the yankee liberal revisionists would soon blame it on the south for stealing their oil in the 1st place, right?

And as far as a requirement of their employment, getting pregnant and having a baby isn’t an employment requirement. Why aren’t you up in arms about providing that coverage? Just what illness/disease is related to an employment requirement at all?

I don’t think employers should have to provide ANY health coverage. I think it should be provided to all Americans as part of their citizenship. We all have the right to be free from illness, to pursue happiness without pain, and the liberty not to have to worry about filing bankruptcy in case we get sick.

The sense of entitlement needs to end. BUT regardless of that argument, what does BIRTH CONTROL payment have to do with your “right to be free from illness, to pursue happiness without pain, and the liberty not to have to worry about filing bankruptcy in case we get sick”? Nothing. The government needs to stay out of our lives and our personal choices.

Hobby Lobby isn’t saying that their employees cannot use birth control or that they cannot have an abortion or any other restriction on their personal rights. They are simply requesting that they not be forced to pay for something that they do not believe is right.

Employee health issues are NEVER any of the employer’s business. We don’t know if these employers are paying 100% or if employees pay a share. Not to mention, these opposed medical treatments are VERY OFTEN used to treat medical conditions, not just for reproductive reasons. If the final ruling is that employers can opt out of covering certain female medical costs, then I would expect the very same employers to not cover Viagra or other non-medically necessary male products. What happened to the separation of church and state? And since when are laws meant to only be followed when our “beliefs” don’t conflict with them?

Viagra has nothing to do with the issue before the Court. Nor, for that matter, does this have to do with MOST forms of birth control. Most people don’t realize that Hobby Lobby is ALREADY providing MOST forms of birth control to their employees; they are objecting to exactly FOUR kinds of birth control, such as the “morning after” pill. People seem to think Hobby Lobby is against providing ALL forms of birth control, and they aren’t. And since when do religious people have to abandon their religious principles just because they are running a business? You can’t compartmentalize your life like that. Also, “separation of church and state” has nothing to do with this issue (most people don’t even understand what that phrase MEANS), but “prohibiting the free exercise of” religious principles and beliefs definitely does. Or at least, that is what the Court is being asked to determine.

They are free to exercise their religious principles, but not mine and not their employees. Providing the coverage is in no way forcing them to use it. If their employees are of the same belief, they will not use it either. But some of their employees may not be of the same belief and, for them, it should be available. Because that’s what the law says.

It is available to them. Just not covered by their insurance. The law is wrong and that is why they have asked the Supreme Court to rule on it.

No, the employee is making it my business if she demands that I provide birth control as part of her benefits package, AFTER telling me that her reproductive system is “none of my business.” Can’t have it both ways. Now, as an employer, I would provide birth control (except I agree with Hobby Lobby and the Mennonite business that is also part of this case that “morning after” pills violate my conscience), but I don’t think I should be FORCED to provide it by the government. The benefits I as an employer provide should be up to me, not mandated by the government.

Connie – someone’s reproductive rights are none of your business. An individual’s reproductive rights aren’t your financial responsibility; you are merely providing health insurance with certain minimum requirements as respects to birth control and reproductive rights. I can’t not pay my taxes (or a portion of them) just because I don’t agree with the government and how they spend my tax dollars. I can’t pick and choose what I want to fund. It doesn’t work that way.

It is my belief that there should be zero exceptions. And churches should be taxed like the corporations they really are.

BTW, male employees at Hobby Lobby can get Viagra under their Rx plan…

Shirley, since when was Jesus against business? Seems to me if I remember right that he and Joseph, his stepfather, were carpenters. They probably had a carpentry shop in Nazareth. Jesus did overturn the tables of the moneychangers in the Temple for two reasons: 1) they were running a business on sacred ground in the Temple, which was supposed to be a house of prayer, and 2) they were cheating their customers while they were at it. Apples and oranges.

Connie, I’m not saying that Jesus was supposedly against business; he was supposedly against MIXING business with faith or exploiting faith by using it for business – sacrilege. Didn’t he supposedly go ape-shht in the temple because the money-changers were conducting business there?

Shirley, no, Jesus wasn’t against mixing business and faith. Jesus went ballistic (a better word) against the moneychangers for conducting business in the Temple itself, which was to be used for prayer and worship, AND for cheating the people they were doing business with, but that is NOT the same thing as taking the faith and principles that one learns in the Temple (church, whatever place of worship) and using that faith and principles to govern ALL aspects of one’s daily life, including how one runs one’s business. You don’t leave your faith at the door of your church the minute you leave church. Again, apples and oranges. And it’s not “exploiting” your faith if you allow your faith to influence how you run your business.

In all fairness to Hobby Lobby, they probably recruited many of their employees from the large mega churches in the Bible Belt. Hobby Lobby figures they can continue replace those low lying fruit and “sinning” employees with new drones the following Sunday. After these employees tithe nearly their entire paychecks away, (to a snake oil salesman possessing nice suits, cars, homes, boats, and such) they will do anything and everything they can to get more hours for minimum wage. This is not an issue for the courts as much as it is an issue that adults would have to rely on this type of job to support themselves and their family.

I think that the supremem court will decide that Hobby Lobby can opt out and pay the $2,000 per employee fine. Otherwise, what if the owners are Christian Science practitioners who have different beliefs on medical care or any other religion which has non science based arguements? Allowing this arguement to win opens up a really bad can O worms.

And the ones who suffer from that decision are the employees. I bet if you polled their employees, they would gladly pay for their birth control out of their own pockets than have to pay their own health insurance premiums. If we allow Hobby Lobby to skirt the law using this farce of an excuse, where will it end? My Jewish employer will not pay for my upper GI because I eat meat with dairy? My Muslim employer will not pay for a liver transplant because I drink alcohol. My Mormon employer will not pay for my lung cancer treatment because I smoke cigarettes? My Scientologist employer will not pay for my mental illness treatment because it involves taking medication?

Where does it end? It’s easy to get on the bandwagon when it’s something you believe in, but it you stop to think about the unintended consequences, you might reconsider.

How is it this administration is picking and choosing what part of the law they will enforce? Obama has unilaterally changed the law over 30 times without the advice and consent of Congress. He uses his pen and phone to do it by Executive Order. Anyone who challenges the law in court are the bad guys and law breakers and Obama is the good guy for changing the law he signed. Please explain. Inquiring minds want to know.

First of all, Obama has not made one change to the ACA by Executive Order. It is the IRS that has the authority to delay implementation of ANY law under certain circumstances. Maybe if you did some research before shooting off your mouth, you’d learn something.

If Obama was breaking the law, Republicans would have had him locked up by now. Obviously no-one is breaking the law by delaying implementation of certain provisions. That is not “changing” it is delaying implementation and they are well within their rights to do it.

Look it up and leave me alone.

Because the IRS, being part of the Legislative branch, is part of the Obama administration. Here is an excerpt from a news article announcing the delay of the business mandate last July:

“On Tuesday, July 2, the Obama administration announced that it is delaying the requirement that businesses with more than 50 employees provide health insurance to their workers or pay a penalty. The delay extends to 2015. The announcement by the IRS comes after numerous complaints from businesses that the requirements were too complicated and difficult to implement in time.”

It seems you continue to have trouble with reading comprehension, Agent, so I will reiterate my position:

First of all, the morning after pill does not induce an abortion. It prevents a pregnancy from happening. Perhaps these rock solid pro-lifers should learn a little bit about science.

Second of all, a corporation is a corporation. I don’t care if it is closely held or publicly traded. Once you draw up the papers to incorporate, you have united into one united legal entity. A legal entity does not have “beliefs.” People have beliefs. You can not choose when you want to hide behind the corporate shield and when you don’t.

Thirdly, this is a law. If we allow HL to skirt the law, who will be next? And for what reason? If they were a religious entity or even a not-for profit business, I might entertain it. But they aren’t. And as such, they are subject to the same rules every other for-profit corporation is subject to.

Now, read real slowly with your lips moving and you just might be able to understand my position.

I hate to be a stickler for facts but the morning after pill works in more than one way – one of which is not allowing an egg to implant, which means that a life was created and prevented and those silly prolifers believe that once and egg and a sperm join, a life is created. So it’s not quite so black and white as prochoicers argue.

Maybe the employees of Hobby Lobby are on the side of the owners.

Except if this exception is allowed, that opens the door for other companies to claim an exception that may not be supported by the employees. A Christian Scientist owned business is an excellent example. Their religious beliefs are very strict. Could they refuse to pay for health insurance at all?

If we have to have insurance to pay for health care (as opposed to socialist medicine), then the employer should be taken out of the mix. Pay that amount to the employee, all people should buy their own insurance (WITHOUT mandated minimum coverages) and those premiums should be tax deductible. Everyone wins.

I agree the employer needs to be taken out of the mix. No reason to go that route. As far as how much to pay, I’d say that’s negotiable between employer and employee. The only difference between what we have now and what I’m suggesting is that the employer no longer has an expense for health insurance. Otherwise, pay is based on market value / performance.

We are talking about a corporation, true, but HL is a closely held, family company, not an Exxon or publicly traded corporation. The family adheres to deep religious convictions. Not one single employee is forced to work there, they ALL know what they are getting into. What HL are objecting to is more complex than not paying for contraceptives, but rather paying for abortion inducing drugs. Their rock solid pro-life beliefs require them to not do this. HL treat their employees very well, and I would venture to say the vast majority of them love working for the Green family. If their personal beliefs do not line up with HL they are free to seek employment elsewhere.

To Everyone: Look what we’ve come to. In the past there was no problem with birth control – people took care of that in their own way. Now that it’s become a forced issue, it has become another divisive problem. This is what happens when government infringes on people’s private lives – especially when it involves a non-vetted law on which there was no debate nor any information about what it contained provided to those voting on it. It was passed by lawmakers who were essentially blindfolded when they cast their votes in the middle of the night. Is this the way we want to run our country from now on? Shoving bills in front of lawmakers without allowing them to have intelligent debates about the pros and cons in order to reach mutually acceptable content? If so, then Congress will just become window dressing for an emerging aristocracy or dictatorship in the administrative branch.

Rusty, I think you are onto something with your comment. Any President who is unwilling to work with Congress on legislation and threatens and then does do unilateral changes to a law passed by Congress is acting as a Dictator. He proudly announced he has a phone and pen and will do as he sees fit. Of course when this law was introduced and before passage, he had Pelosi & Reid to carry his water to ram it through when they had majorities in both Houses. Even at that, both of them had to bribe, coerce, threaten loss of committee positions to get it through. Pelosi got up and waved her hands and said they had to pass it so we could see what was in it. Unfortunately for us, it gave off a terrible odor and now we are seeing the destructive effects of it. Recently, Obama said he would veto any bill requiring him to enforce the laws passed or in force. It appears he has a different idea of what a Presidents oath of office means.

            Libby,

I’m sorry, law or not, it is not ok to force someone who owns a business to violate their religion.

Have you read revelations? Do you see the similarity at all? I’m not much of a believer, but current things are starting to change my mind. Forcing people to sin is one of the things in there.

The mass murdering of children would be acceptable according to it. There is only one form of mass murder of children that would ever occur in this world united: Abortion. I only bring that up not because of this birth control argument, but because recently you said to a pro lifer that you are ok with abortion and don’t care about their argument of conception anyway. Basically that you would kill the child at any point in the pregnancy. You better change that friend.

You would do well to consider that.

My wife has finally made me take some thought into religion. Before my dad died, for about 6 months I felt something. She saw it. I said about 2 months prior “I need to get things resolved with him and my sister, I’m running out of time. I don’t know how I know, but I know he’s going to die.”. Every day I felt it like it was told to me. I know I sound like a whack job, and that’s why I denied it for so long. We watched the movie (premonition I believe? The one with Sandra Bullock being shown her husband would die) together a month before he died, and for some reason I couldn’t let go of a phrase that was said in it, something like “every time that God has shown someone a glimpse of the future, and they have tried to change it, it has destroyed them”. So instead, I continued my push to make things good with my father. I invited him over for memorial day weekend, I bought tickets for a cruise in July, and I bought a book for my then unborn daughter that I showed him, knowing it was one of his favorites and said it would be her first book. He cried. One of the only times he did. I almost literally was telling him goodbye in many ways. This made my wife believe in God. I didn’t realize it until I told her that I didn’t know if I believed, and she asked how in the world I didn’t. My answer was I felt so alone, from loosing my dad, being cheated on, and a bunch of other crap. And she said maybe god was replacing things that I wasn’t noticing (Zoe was conceived while she was on the depo, and has no disorders).

Just like I have been shown all these things, and she mentioned how I found my job (applied for a company with the same name as my dog, my dad told the story often) I have always had miracles happen in my life that you would never see normally. And I can tell you now: This law, is wrong. Abortion, in any form, is wrong. I know it in my blood. And you should too.

But on a non religious tone: You can’t just make a law to make people do what you want, and say it’s ok because it’s a law, while you insult the corporations for not following it. It’s called bully Libby. That is what you are. Say the words “I am not allowed to force my way of life onto ANYONE” then apply that to corporations. And no, Libby, don’t be a child and then say that they are forcing their way of life on you. Not paying for your birth control is not the same as forcing you to not have sex. And I’m sick of you being such a child that you always say that. That them not paying for it is forcing you into a way of life, while you simultaneously debate against conservatives telling them that birth control won’t change people’s lifestyles on the conservative side of the aisle. You’re a hypocrite, a lost person, who needs to find God. I’m finally becoming religious again, after being afraid to do so. And I am not afraid to say it in your face Libby, especially after reading more of the bible recently, the passages where it says if your brother sins call it out. If they don’t listen bring another to lay the claim of sin. If they don’t listen bring a priest. If they still don’t listen, cast them out of your life like a tax collector. This is not the only place where it speaks of doing exactly that. While people like you say “don’t judge” the bible explicitly says not to be silent. When it says don’t judge, it means do not cast judgment, do not cast punishment.

Do some soul searching. You need it. There are a lot of zealots out there. Let me guarantee you I am not one. I have rejected religion quite a bit. But I assume like me, somewhere inside, you know abortion is wrong. I am lucky in the fact that everyone around me is shocked at all that happens in my life. David, my actual religious brother said something to the degree of “I wish god acted in my life like he did yours…I really don’t know why you don’t believe Chris” on numerous occasions. I could go into so many things, and you wouldn’t believe it. I know, that what you need in your life is God. Go seek him.

            Bob:

I have God in my life. It took me 39 years to find my faith, but I did and it means everything to me.

Since when is offering birth control &/or abortion under a health insurance plan FORCING people to sin? Isn’t the real sin, according the bible, the fornication itself?

I have a strong faith and have my beliefs. They do not include the bible. It is a book written by man.

And in closing, if you slow down and start paying attention, you will find miracles happening every day. You are not the only one that has had these occurrences. When they happen, I say “That’s a God thing.” He is always there performing his miracles (even as small as a killer parking spot.) We just need to pay attention and be grateful.

FFA, just today, our embecile in Chief in the Senate, the venerable Harry Reid said the reason for the latest delay in the sign up was because people just weren’t educated on the Internet. Hello! His boss said it was as easy as shopping with Amazon.com. In this internet world we are living in with everyone on their iphone, ipad, laptop, desktop, I think people are educated on the internet. They just don’t like signing up on this trash law when they have seen the premiums, deductibles, out of pocket, loss of doctors, hospitals and just don’t like it, particularly young people.

I believe the issue at hand is:

Do we allow corporations to select which part of the ACA it complies, based upon religious convictions.

Please drop the whole it shouldn’t be law…. blah, blah, blah.

It is law. I don’t like this law either, but it’s the law.

Does a non person, corporation get to elect to which provisions it complies or not based on religious beliefs?

Kind of like an insurance policy, right? It is what it is, and we pay claims based on the contract… not what the contract should say, but what it does say.

    What happened in Il today?

“Gov. Quinn gave his budget address today. When he broke a promise from his last campaign snd signed the 67 percent tax increase in 2011, he said he could fix our $ problems with that so-called temporary tax hike. Today, he admitted that he failed to solve those problems. His solution? Break the promise that the tax would be temporary! After 5 years of Gov. Quinn we have record high taxes and spending and the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the country. He has had his chance. He didn’t get the job done and he broke his promises. I think we need a new governor. What do you think?”

Having failed to kill the Affordable Care Act in Congress by shutting down the government the opposition is currently taking delight in charging the president with lying to the public when he said anyone who likes their current healthcare plan will be able to keep it under the new law.

Some people losing their current policies [and being offered better coverage] are going to have to pay a higher price. Taking crocodile tears to a new level, ObamaCare opponents are now rushing to their defense and calling the president a liar.

These critics include Republican politicians who did not vote for ObamaCare; these are Republican governors who refuse to set up exchanges to reach their own citizens; these are people oppose expanding Medicaid to help poor people getting better health care; these are people who have never put any proposal on the table as an alternative fix for the nation’s costly health care system that leaves tens of millions with inadequate medical coverage and tens of millions more totally uninsured.

The fact is if you are one of the estimated 2 million Americans whose health insurance plans may have been cancelled this month, you should not be blaming President Obama or the Affordable Care Act.

You should be blaming your insurance company because they have not been providing you with coverage that meets the minimum basic standards for health care.

Let me put it more bluntly: your insurance companies have been taking advantage of you and the Affordable Care Act puts in place consumer protection and tells them to stop abusing people.

The government did not “force” insurance companies to cancel their own substandard policies. The insurance companies chose to do that rather than do what is right and bring the policies up to code.

This would be like saying the government “forces” chemical companies to dispose of toxic waste safely rather than dumping it in the river.

Or the government “forces” people to drive with intact windshields and working brake lights.

How dare they “force” drivers to pay money to get those things fixed if they are broken?

The American health insurance industry is one of the most profitable in the history of the world. Before the ACA, they made money by finding any excuse, any loophole to deny coverage to the sickest and most vulnerable people in our society.

Rather than being vindictive and canceling policies under the pretext of ObamaCare, the insurance companies should be thanking their lucky stars that they do not have to contend with a public option or a single payer system. That is what the law allows in every other modern industrialized democracy.

By the way, I agree that Libby was hoping you would admit to being married several times and breaking your marriage vows so she could come down on you hard. Imagine her disappointment.

No, Libby, I don’t discredit Fox News as a source because of the author; in fact, I like Juan Williams a lot – I think he’s misguided and clueless at times, but he sure seems like a nice guy and as an aside I think the way NPR treated him a couple years ago was really shabby. But when you tout that you have quoted Fox News, and it turns out that the person from Fox you quoted was one of their liberal commentators, it doesn’t mean much. You’re obviously going to agree with one of the libs on that network. So it doesn’t mean any more than if you quoted a lib from, say, MSNBC. If there were a conservative commentator on MSNBC (are there any??) and I quoted one of them, it wouldn’t mean much either, because obviously I’d be in agreement with a conservative commentator, no matter which network he’s on.

    Agent,
I thought I was the troll of the year!! I guess Libby must have overtaken me. Congrats Libby!
As I have mentioned before, it is not just Democrats like Libby and myself who support Obamacare. If you talk to many doctors and health care professionals, they believe the law is generally good.
I am including the benefits from the ACA that I read from Ezekiel Emanuel who holds a joint appointment at the University of Pennsylvania medical school as well as at Wharton. He is also a board certified oncologist. Read carefully:

    a) Since ACA has been implemented the uninsured rate has dropped from 18% to 15.9%. This is the lowest level in 5 years.

    b) Quality has dramatically improved. Libby and I have both mentioned that ACO’s are a vital piece of this legislation. Doctors are paid for quality of service vs quantity of service. As a result, avoidable central line infections have dropped 41% and unnecessary procedures have dropped 50%. The quality standards that have been built into this legislation have prevented 15,000 deaths.

    c) Lastly, there is the issue of cost. For the past five decades, health care costs have grown 3-5% higher than the overall economy. Since the ACA has come into place, the rate of cost increase has slowed so it is about even with the overall economy.

These are plain facts Agent and FFA. Moreover, they come from a health care professional who deals with the regulations of this legislation on a daily basis.

Again, I reiterate the words of Harry Truman and Bill Clinton. If you want to live like a Republican, vote for a Democrat!

    Cheers!

Almost out the door here in NYC and headed to the subway, here is food for thought….

Wasn’t this the same John Roberts who upheld the validity of the ACA?

The law is legal. It was passed by Congress, signed by the President, and its validity was upheld by the Supreme Court.

I might be a “foreigner” according to FFA, but I think I have the basics of American government down pat. Congress makes the laws, the executive branch enforces the law, and the judicial branch interprets them. Right?

Anyway, I think the administration will win the case. If you read the justice’s questions, it seemed that Justice Kennedy sided with the more liberal justices of the court. He often sides with these justices on social issues. Look no further than the case that overturned the ban on gay marriage in California.

We’ll see in a few months if I’m right.

As for agent, have you heard the expression it takes two to tango? You dish out with people like me and Libby, and you can be pretty tough with both of us (and others). Don’t cry, and say that we are mean when we defend ourselves. I’m not just another rude New Yorker (your words not mine).

Please explain why the American people have to comply with this “law” and the Administration/Obama doesn’t. They have broken the law over 30 times unilaterally with the stroke of a pen. Do you believe like Harry Reid that the slow sign up is the result of people not knowing how to use the Internet?

Yawn! Agent continues his conservative rant. Is this from Rush, Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity?

Some misconceptions that I want to clear up:

            1) Yes, working people like me but also wealthy millionaires and billionaires take the subway to work. Michael Bloomberg and Vikram Pandit are two examples. Both of these individuals turned out fine.

            2) Yes, Obama is complying with the law. Please see the post where he as the President has enrolled in a health plan offered by an exchange in DC.

            http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/12/23/obama-signs-up-for-health-care-selects-bronze-plan-in-d-c-exchange/

If you look many of his staff as well as Senator Reid and his staff, have signed up for the plan.

            3) As for breaking the law, laws are not broken. Action was taken by executive order, and it has been done by Democratic and Republican presidents. He has done this as all matters from legislation to executive appointments are blocked by Congress. That is why Harry Reid invoked the nuclear option. You do know what the nuclear option is…don’t you Agent?

I do agree that the law is not perfect. If you read Dr Emanuel’s article, the website and law should be run like a business e-commerce website and not like a government run website. As for slow signup, ACA enrollment went well over 6 million.

So, Agent, as you are a card-carrying teabagger, do you stand for anything constructive or just run against the ACA like almost all GOP politicans?

Agent has got to be one of the most misinformed individuals on this site, yet he speaks with such conviction. Scary, huh?

            He doesn’t know:

            1) There have been no Executive Orders issued regarding the ACA.

            2) The IRS has the authority to delay implementation of parts of the ACA and has legally done so.

            3) Congress and the President are subject to the ACA mandate.

            4) Obama is neither Muslim nor the anti-Christ.

            5) The ACA was passed by Congress, signed into law, upheld by SCOTUS and is no longer up for debate.

He is so out of touch with reality, I think he thinks Reagan is still on office. Those were the days, huh Agent?

Whether or not a company can have an orgasm, young lady,

Is irrelevant to whether or not that company is providing for you.

I guess you think the company is “@%@ing you” eh? So I guess they can have an orgasm with you right?

And seeing as you’re meant to go to work to have orgasms, I guess this is totally a relevant question, after all, the purpose of you going to work is orgasms right?

Libby, I can be an annoying child too. It doesn’t make it right.

Whether or no your corporation can have an orgasm is irrelevant to whether or not they should pay you, hire you, or pay for your birth control.

What you are saying is not respectful, and me pointing that out seems to be what you have a problem with.

I do not care if you don’t appreciate it. I don’t appreciate the way you talk either, and it’s why I often don’t respect you.

This isn’t the way you should be talking.

Saying “I can talk how I want” is accurate, but you can’t say that and simultaneously say that while you do things that completely lack self control or respect that is will be the same level of comments which have self control or respect, and then blame me for that fact.

If you cannot face the err of your comments, then don’t say it.

I do not think my comment was disrespectful. To whom was it disrespectful? I find many things you say to be disrespectful as well. That is just an opinion, nothing else. You are entitled to yours. I am entitled to mine. I do not accept your assessment of disrespectful, so the comment is not appreciated.

Not appropriate, not as edgy as you think, childish, and irrelevant.

The people who own a corporation, even biblically, have rights.

You ever read what those rights are, Mr. Supposed Christian, but you insult the bible all the time?

People who own businesses should not be forced to do things just because they own a business. It is their choice to do wrong or do right. And if they don’t do right, people can work elsewhere.

Though I imagine birth control won’t be the deciding factor as is.

People who own businesses have rights. They do not, however, have the right to break the law without consequences. We can argue the merits of the law, but it is the law nevertheless.

You don’t have the right to pass a law, bully them, force them to do absurd things,

Congress DOES have that right. There are plenty of laws on the books I don’t like, but am supposed to follow. If I do not, there are consequences.

A corporation is not an individual. It does not have the same rights as an individual. I’m sorry you don’t like that the law says this coverage has to be offered. But it does. Having it insured and condoning it are two different things. They may be against smoking, but they don’t exclude coverage for lung cancer. Against drinking, but don’t exclude coverage for alcoholism. They can’t pick and choose. Not anymore.

At one point blacks didn’t have rights as individuals.

            They were still individuals.

CEO’s and business owners are being enslaved, and mistreated.

You are getting on the bus just because it’s a law?

How dare you! I will not say it is ok. Corporations are individuals ran, and individuals owned, and are made up of individuals.

The individuals who run the company should have the same rights as those who work in it.

When you run a business you should not have to violate your beliefs. You say it’s not all about money all the time. Well, then don’t force businesses to have to be all about the money.

“The individuals who run the company should have the same rights as those who work in it.” Yes, they do. And they have the right to choose not to use the morning after pill. They don’t have the right to withold that decision from their employees by not providing health insurance coverage for it. Just as they cannot withold other coverage under the guise of it offending their “religion.”

If, as everyone says, the people that work at Hobby Lobby have the same beliefs as it’s owners, then there is no problem providing coverage, as the workers will not use it. If that’s not the case, they do not have the right to withold coverage and make that decision for their employees.

            Libby,

That last one, and I don’t care if this makes me sound like a zealot because it is true,

            Is envy,

            Obsession,

And hate toward those who own businesses,

And will get you in hell.

            Off of that topic,

Business owners are being forced to do things, solely because they have money. You figure it is ok to mistreat them because they have a nice life? No. It isn’t. You don’t get to say “hey you have money? Great, pay for my birth control which you are against”

And I will say again, and pardon the anger but no, you don’t get to say things like you said above:

NOT PAYING FOR YOUR BIRTH CONTROL IS NOT CONTROLLING YOU.

You have the right to pay for your own birth control. I suppose businesses by that logic can also be the reason for everything by that logic, because they aren’t paying for everything for you. That was VERY whiny logic you put up. Act like an adult and grow up.

But more on point: It is like $15. If you have a job. You can afford it. PAY FOR IT YOURSELF.

Let me show you something from a saint of the catholic church.

Scroll down to where Satan says how to corrupt man, let them say that it is not illegal, let them be lazy, etc.

This was a woman who wrote this when she was under 30, a nun, who I agree, being Catholic, could not have known this level of corruption. READ IT.

See what she says Satan does to get people in hell.

Then wonder how this girl who died in her early 30’s, would have ever come up with such a concept.

Then reflect on your friends and how they live.

            http://www.tldm.org/News8/realityofhell.htm

Look at Sister Josefa lower down.

People like you are entirely focused on your wants in this life. That’s exactly the problem. You are selfish. Note she sees a 15 year old girl going to hell. A FIFTEEN year old girl. Why Libby?

Tell me you don’t believe that Nun’s story in light of her age when she saw what she saw, and the level of truth to how the world is corrupted in the end of her story in comparison to what Satan said, and in comparison to the chance she would ever understand as a person of meager life those types of corruption. Then realize why that fifteen girl went to hell, and why by that logic, a lot of people will suffer in this country because that is nearly every child: She was focused only on herself. People told her to have fun, forget the nay sayers, it’s about her. We don’t know if God exists, so just have fun. Your employer will pay for your birth control. Become callous to the employer. They don’t deserve to be treated as humans right? It’s about you and your enjoyment and your career.

See the level of corruption you and liberals like you spread?

I am tired of standing by and or being a part of it in my life.

If fear of hell is not a reason, then love of the being who created you and love of man should be, for you to realize that being callous to the rich is basically wrong. And this birth control push is as well. PAY. FOR. IT. YOURSELF.

            And also:

Tell me that FIFTEEN year old girl, had she died today, would not believe that sex was her own affair, she wasn’t going to hell, and she could rely on the government, planned parenthood, or other organizations to provide for it.

You encourage that lifestyle with your supposed “acceptance” and then damn those who would save her when they tell her it’s wrong by calling them zealots.

Libby, I am sick of this. On my path to God I am realizing I have argued entirely wrong. Like a monkey in the kingdom of man.

Your kingdom of man is all about selfish wants, where people fight over the right to have sex with people outside of marriage (I’m not saying this is horrible for the same reason as other believers, what happens if you have a kid with someone you didn’t intend on marrying? Is that the purpose of birth control? To be able to make stupid decisions without consequence? To have sex with the hottest person you can and act like an idiot? To just %@%@ other people, literally and metaphorically when you realize you don’t want to be with them?) regularly. There are reasons it is wrong. There are reasons you shouldn’t be encouraging it.

Again: If hell is real, if even 1% chance those actions would get you there, you shouldn’t encourage it.

If it isn’t, well, it’s still wrong morally. And I don’t care how immature you are to deny it, it won’t change it.

If there’s a 1 in 5 billion chance that girl is right, 1 in 5 billion considering an eternity, it is worth paying attention.

I’m sorry, your way of life is just bad, wreckless, inconsiderate, and selfish. At all ends Sex takes priority, relationships and children take secondary, and in the case of abortions, children take last for you over you being able to do whatever the hell you want. You always try to talk pretty, but that’s what it’s all about: Let me do whatever the hell I want. The zealots aren’t stopping you Libby. All they do is say it is wrong. And that’s about it. You want to do it, go ahead. I won’t be seeing you in hell.

I’ve been watching this crud go on my entire life due to people like you.

It’s an animal kingdom as I call it.

I literally showed my dad the book I’ll love you forever, (do you know of it?) and said I knew he tried his best with us kids. I said it would be her first book, and played on the “as long as you’re living my daddy you’ll be” line. My wife is pulling me back, but she was not religious before what happened with my dad happened, and I can no longer ignore it. Let me say it plainly: YOU. ARE. ON. THE. WRONG. PATH. Call me a zealot, call me names, say you feel sorry for me, whatever. I don’t care. Out of the parties in power, one is facilitating the path to hell in too many ways for me to ignore. Call that zealotry, speak whatever you would like to say, I don’t care. It is right. You know it. I know it. You just are too selfish to admit it. I’ll say these lines again and again.

I don’t care what you think. I’m going biblical from now on. The things that have happened in my life, had you seen them, are clear as day. You can see it as truth, or just mumbo jumbo, but know this: You have been given your chance and you chose not to listen. I don’t bluntly care about your views on it. I’ll grab a Mother Teresa quote: In the end, it was about you and God, not them anyway. You’ve probably heard the full version. People like her, who give as much as they do, don’t come from mindsets like you.

It’s either I trust in people who followed mindsets like her, or mindsets like you and guess what Libby?

I’m going with people like her. Because people like you told me while they ruined parts of my life “don’t worry, what we are doing to you is ok to us”. No. Catholics don’t do this, say this, or have your ego problems. I was raised around them. They are humble, they are quick to say what they did wrong, and they are about love. You’re not. Every decision I have seen you make, or viewpoint you have, is about you. You’re selfish, and when it isn’t about you, it’s about getting someone else what they deserve. AKA CEO’s, business owners, all those bad people with money.

I refuse to live like that. We won’t be talking anymore. Biblically I am to tell you what you did wrong, and then bring others to do it, and then bring a priest. But I’m not wasting my time.

            Adios Libby.

Because you had to insert “old white guys” (why?)

No one wants to control the uterus other than liberal males.

If the woman doesn’t have a kid, he can feel free to have sex away. Birth control and abortion isn’t about controlling women for people who are against it. It is about the perceived child. Whether or not you agree with their perception of that child Planet, it makes you an asshole for insulting what other believe on the matter by stating the above. One of the worse types I might add.

However, there is one group that it is about owning the woman’s vagina. It is about owning women sexually for people who are for birth control. It was never about freedom for women. And if you have ever paid attention to the majority of men who are for birth control, they are single white men (I’ll be just as stupid by adding white eh?) who want to avoid fatherhood because they are weak.

Don’t tell me that’s stereo typing and that plenty of people use birth control while married.

The vast majority are not. In NY more people were aborted than born. Don’t tell me that this was because too many married people didn’t have access to birth control. That’s a load of crap. I am talking the majority.

FFA, I have something to post which is guaranteed to get a bunch of dislikes from Libby, Ron, 102, Boogereater since they hate Texas so much.
            How God Created Texans

When God created the world for humankind to prosper and multiply, he decided to give each group two virtues.
As an example, he made the Japanese patient and hardworking, he made the Germans tenacious and studios, he made the Americans organized and pragmatic, and so on.
When God considered Texans, He told the record keeping angel, Texans are going to be intelligent, honest and Democrats.
When God finished creating the world, the angel noticed that God had given every group two virtues except the Texans ,who had received three.
The angel thought that this would give the Texans an unfair advantage over the other groups of human beings and pointed this out to God.
God said, Oh my goodness, you are certainly right, but since virtues given by God cannot be changed, we shall do the following.
From now on, Texans will keep three virtues, however, they can only use two at a time.
A Texan, who is a Democrat & honest, cannot be intelligent.
One, who is Intelligent & Democrat, cannot be honest.
And one, who is intelligent & honest can never be a Democrat! That is why most Texans are Republicans.

You are creating a catch 22, or a no win scenario. Take your pick.

            Get the point?

Stop whining and trying to make one liners. It’s really immature and you don’t get the big picture.

Libby, let me end the week that was with a few pearls of wisdom for you to ponder. The title of this article is Conundrums /21st Century America.
The six contradictions of Socialism in the United States of America:
            1. America is Capitalist and Greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized.
            2. Half the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.
            3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.
            4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer.
            5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
            6. The have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be like all those other countries

Think about it! And that pretty much sums up the the USA in the 21st Century.

We know all about Government Motors Libby. Now, they have a huge recall on the Cobalt and numerous lawsuits resulting from a $.57 part that caused unsafe conditions. They only knew about this for over 10 years and did nothing about it. Their new female CEO is testifying before Congress currently on it. Obama may have to bail them out all over again to pay all the death and injury claims.

Well, I have to agree with you on the Honda Accord. It is a very good vehicle, reliable and economical. My wife has had a series of them and liked them. She recently had to switch to a Toyota RAV 4 because of her back issues. The Accord sits down low and she needed something she could slide into easier. That RAV is a good one for her.

    Agent,
    Some facts to correct.

    1) Yes, the poor who work do pay taxes. As you make reference to the 47% that Mr Romney made famous, these people pay taxes in terms of Social Security, Medicare, state and local taxes. They work and are not on welfare. Why expand the earned income tax credit for these families Agent? This would put more money in their pockets and make them less poor (your words). The President as proposed this, and prominent conservatives like Marco Rubio backed him up. Mr Rubio withdrew his support. I guess he is interested in running for President, and he needs support from teabaggers like you. I just a lot of respect for Rubio. He backtracked on immigration and now on the earned income tax credit. I guess Rubio has no backbone.

    2) As for the statement, both liberal and conservative economists recognize that those that are less well off tend to stay well less off. On the other side, those that are more well off usually stay well off. Why not put money towards sensible programs like the earned income tax credit, expanding college opportunity and ameliorating student debt? I forget you are from the party of teabaggers. You have no original ideas of your own, and you run solely on your opposition to Obamacare.

    3) Yes, I have travelled across India (primarily in larger cities such as New Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore). When I grow through these cities, I notice that even in some of these shanty towns they have some things that some poor people in the US do not have. For example, how many poor people in America have television satellites and new TV’s that can pick up channels from India and around the world?

    4) I guess from your travel which sounds nebulous at best (ex. Europe sounds vague-it is a rather large land mass), didn’t you notice that from Asia to Europe and everywhere in between, they stressed the importanance of international cooperation to solve issues-foreign policy, national security, economic, agriculture, etc? Why do you think the idea of the G-7 has now expanded to the G-20? Moreover, the idea of international cooperation is stressed from right of center as well as left of center parties in these countries. If you brought up your cowboy ideas on politics and economics in a large share of these countries, you would be scorned or laughed at. In your case, it was probably both. I guess your mail order bride laughs at you too. I guess that is why you lash on on these forums.

Personally, I am glad to be a member of a party that stresses diplomacy and cooperation to solve issues rather than taking other alternative course of actions. Wasn’t it Woodrow Wilson who wanted America in the League of Nations after WWI? Wasn’t FDR who was the driving force that lead the USA into the United Nations?

Again, if you want to live like a Republican, vote for a Democrat?

Got to run agent. Don’t worry, I (and others) can reach you at your corporate e-mail:

Bob, I call them as I see them. This man is the worst President we have ever had. I started out disagreeing on policies he put in effect, not on him as a person. The more I have learned about how he operates, the more I am convinced that his Narcissism may be at the root of all he does. He is nortoriously thin skinned and just about went ballistic when Dr. Ben Carson had some pearls of wisdom for him at the prayer breakfast. Dr. Carson got a visit from the IRS on an audit not long afterward. We know what he did through the IRS on their persecution of Conservative Groups.

            Libby,

            Foaming at the mouth?

Listen to yourself! I am passionate, but I am not foaming at the mouth.

You’re just a bad person currently. I am telling you things you need to hear. But as I said above: GOODBYE.

You are just mad that I’m basically finally taking the correct actions with you.

I’m nutty right? Because I care about religion and God now?

The same bs I heard all my life by people like you. You believe in God and you call those who follow him nutty, you insult his flock, you insult those who support the life of his children, no Libby.

            Just No. We. Are. Done.

You’re lost. I gave you a religious rant so you would basically realize the reasoning behind everything you put on here, is selfish, or jealous, or envious.

I don’t care if you find it crazy. I find this…Sad, but funny. You won’t enjoy the flames. And it is where you’re going.

Let me just say this again: I was shown my fathers death, and I was scared to say if for several years. I actually prepared a goodbye for him and flew out to see a sister. I told one person that I trusted about this. It was my wife. Then my father died. I was in shock. I shrugged off what had happened due to people that are as blind as you.

But she finally reminded me. She said “you told me you knew your father was going to die, and then you basically said good bye to him weeks before he did. I saw you for 6 months, panic, then accept and make everything right with your father knowing about his death. You don’t think this was god, why? What happened?”.

            I will say this again:

I was told so to speak about my father’s death. My sister who I had not seen in 7 years, I went down to see her to bring her back. The force was powerful. I told her we “didn’t have time”. My sister didn’t know what I meant. I then asked my mother, on Mother’s day (he had his heart attack on Memorial day) “when did dad have his last heart check?”. She said recently, and then I said “ok so I’m going to out and say it, I have this feeling he is going to die. We need to do things with him. It’s good that his heart checked out but we need to do good things with him”.

Do the math. When is mother’s day from memorial day Libby? That is when I invited him over to show him the book.

I am extremely blessed. I have ignored God, as I imagine you do. You being as lost as you are, I know you do see his pull. Start paying attention. I really hope you change, but with how you are, I don’t see that happening.

Good bye libby! I will not join you.

Bob – you are not the only one to have a father die. When my father was diagnosed with cancer, he and my brother were estranged. I was the one that encouraged my brother to reach out to my father. Not for my father, but for my brother. I knew once my father was gone, my brother would grieve for the father he never knew. My brother did reach out and they spent the next three years developing their relationship. My brother thanks me for me for that and knows I did that out of love for him.

You are the one that is the selfish one here. You think all your life experiences are somehow more unique &/or traumatic than everyone else’s. You have no empathy for anyone but yourself.

And yes, you are nutty. Not people that believe in God are nutty. YOU are nutty. One day your an agnostic and the next day you’re ranting and raving and quoting scripture. You jump from one thing to another in your life looking for somewhere to belong. Being gay, not being gay, being promiscuous, being a husband, losing your dad, becoming a dad, being agnostic, being “religious.” You don’t know the first thing about being a Christian. Christians have compassion, tolerance, and patience. You have none of those traits.

As I stated above, I will pray for you that you find some peace in your life.

    Bob,
I believe I am entitled to post whatever I want on this forum as long I do it responsibly. This is the 1st Amendment. Don’t you remember Bobby?
When it comes to politics, my statements are facts and germane to current affairs. For example, wasn’t FDR essential in estalishing the United Nations? Wasn’t the idea of cooperation and diplomacy meant to mitigate the chances of future conflict?
Anyway, it is time to get you, FFA and Agent back in remedial learning. We can start out with basic current affairs.

P.S.–Tell agent when you see him in class that the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Chicago are two different universities.

I don’t care about your rights 102. I never said you don’t have them.

You are perfectly entitled to be a narcissist. You cannot be one and then deny it though.

A lot of “me me” what you do, what experience you have that Agent doesn’t is in your posts, and it is often grandeur. Traveling the world, and that makes you a better more knowledgeable person?

Look at the definition of narcissist. Being grandeur and over confident in [life] experience is in the definition.

You want to debate facts do so.

I was going to debate you until I realized what a narcissist you were on the few facts you posted for the PPACA. Do some more research. Your comment on it being cheaper than before is not only proven wrong by the CBO (republican plan would have lowered costs 9% PPACA will raise costs by 9%) it is patently absurd.

I have posted that the republican plan gave up to a $5,000 debit card for buying insurance, and allowed you to write insurance premiums off as a deduction. Anyone who couldn’t pay for insurance with that, would go on medicare/medicaid.

There are differences in the plans, and it still would have had an exchange. Over time, as people bought in, the amount of insureds could have gone up and costs could have gone down further.

The PPACA is not just bad, it is the worst of all worlds.
