I wonder if they “politely declined” like Agent did about brokering business for his neighboring Farmers agent. But I guess there’s only so much business to go around in Podunk, West Texas. Why broker a deal for your competition?

In agents case – speaking from experience – Farmers would hang on him like a 6 ton gorilla. They would tie him up in court so long and then drop the case after he spends $100K defending it. I was not sued when I made the break, but plenty of people I know were / are still tied up in endless litigation that cost outweigh the benefits.

Additionally, it puts his contracts on the line with his carriers.

Besides, todays generation Farmers Agents are not trained properly. Its a big E&O line.

And beside, Libby, why climb in bed with the competition when what he has to offer smokes the competition.

Thats not guessing, that is the voice of experience.

We brokered business for Farmers agents all the time and vice-versa. They had a smokin condo product and we did each other favors. We understood the E&O risk and only partnered with one agent that knew his stuff.

There was plenty of business to go around.

Your probably working with one on the Old Contract. The new contract, if they take one nickle from another broker/agent, they have violated their contract and it is grounds for immediate termination. Unless your Craft Lake…
If they find out he is taking biz from you and paying you for it, that also violates his contract.

I understand relationships. There are a few of my former peers I shift business back and forth with. They are experienced long time agents that know their stuff. One in particular, I can honestly say that no one in this biz works harder for his clients. Maybe as hard, but not harder.

They have a great restaurant product in addition to their Hab product.

FFA, I must have clicked on the wrong story or IJ has their stories mixed up. Not one comment on the Supremes or Catholic challenge. I see Libby cannot resist running me down at the first opportunity. She still thinks she is the Agent I see.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but down here, Farmer’s agents are among the worst trained, least knowledgeable agents in the business. They do all kinds of wierd things and write substandard coverage to sell a price. I wouldn’t trust their information at all. The guy I was talking about told me incorrect info on his properties and when I asked for loss runs, he had numerous claims that he did not disclose. Sorry, I don’t do business with those types.

Its the new generation of Farmers Agents. Selling a price, cutting coverage.

If you deal with old school Farmers agents on the old contract, you may want to chat with him. But why bother. He is gonna feed u dec pages and then you do all the work and cut him a check. The prospect would likely call you any ways.

I am really worked up about this C Section not being covered. She put her trust & faith to what OBama was saying. Now I have a new single mom with PPD being screwed by these standardized policies that are supposed to be covering Maternity. cant get through to BCBS, Cant get a policy jacket to read through.
Nothing. My best guess, this gal is screwed in true oBama fashion. Wonder if he will read her letter on TV during a national address.

There was never any question with the old substandard policies. It was covered. Period (Old School Period, not Obama Speak Period). .

Why doesn’t she just send in the copy of her pre-authorization letter with the EOB and ask them to revise it?

she sent me the Pre Authorization letter that BC issues. After chatting up my sister last night regarding this, she stated it is very common clerical error when the Hospital bills, they – by honest mistake – code the C Section as elective, not medically necessary. My Best Guess – thats what happened as the rep at BCBS didnt hesitate to submit it for review.

You may want to try Broker Services with BCBS. Surely they can send you something since you are trying to sell the policy. Sometimes I think they want to deliberately cut the agent out of the loop. The customer and the agent both don’t know what all is covered on any of the plans.

FFA, you should have let Libby handle this claim for you. After all, we know she is a Claims Manager as well as The Agent. I am sure her name is the signature all the customers see on their policy and she signs the payroll checks for the agency, pays the bills, enters into the agency contracts, gets all the bonuses etc. I wonder when she has the time to do her CSR work and still blog on this site relentlessly.

That may be a better option then the min wage untrained folks BCBS had to hire to cover this pain in the ass law.

The number of people they had to hire was not enough to break even on the unemployment line the number of people that were let go when that Manufacturing plant moved out of my neck of the woods.

Agent – as a matter of fact, my name is on my client’s policies as an authorized representative of the company. You are such a dolt, it’s unbelievable. Just because I don’t sign the agency contract, doesn’t mean I am not an appointed agent just like the owners and producers. Do you know ANYTHING about how an agency is run???

After talking to BCBS, the only thing they would tell me is that they are going to review the claim.

Hint – something is not correct on the EOB or the billing codes. This just cant be right. Cant be the way it is. Just cant be.

I talked to broker services. They would not tell me where to get the policy jacket from. Guess printing is not in the budget. Maybe they dont want qualified licensed professionals knowing what they are selling.

Ok, you didn’t hear this from me ;-)

Yes, it is possible the bill was submitted with errors. It happens and the hospital MUST submit a correct bill. However, the insurer may be jumping on the denial because they want to delay having to pay. They’ll pay it, eventually, when they’ve exhausted every loop hole they can. I know it happens because I’ve been both a billing manager and a registration manager for hospitals.

With the increase work load on every ones part – learning new systems – updated codes – new tech with electronic billing – errors are going to be made. Got by the billing clerk at the hospital, the claims payer and then the claims auditor. So, by “normal process” it gt by three people and passed to a new mother that is going through PPD.

KY, you should try talking to a government bureaucrat if you want a load of crap. Try the IRS, Healthcare.gov or EPA and you will quickly be tearing your hair out. They are not known for their people skills.
