I’m not going to argue with the CBO, it was only a 15% “error” in their projection. In government it is nothing to make a $104 billion dollar mistake and still be considered a credible expert source. And a 15% decrease in projection means they now think it will only cost 693 billion Vs 797 billion then add in the chump change for the Medicaid increase of 792 billion – why it’s still a bargain. I really think they should have projected 1.4 Trillion then they could have announced a 50% reduction and that would have made it even more special. The beatings will continue until morale increases.

I tried to sign up for healthcare on the exchange. I was told my Bronze plan would be (with subsidies) 30% of my income… at least I don’t have to pay the fine.

Hey FFA, for those who say that casual use of Marijuana is not harmful, they should read the latest study which is on the Fox site today. The study says that even casual use can lead to brain abnormalities, loss of focus, job performance etc. That now explains Libby, Ron, Boogereater, Planet, 102 and others on this site. They have been puffing on too much weed and have been warped.

Agent – Did you actually READ the study or just watch the video clip on FoxNews? I suspect the latter. If you had read it, you would have seen one of the last sentences of the article:

“The current work doesn’t determine whether casual to moderate marijuana use is harmful to the brain, she said.” This came from the person who conducted the study, based on only 20 kids.

It’s no impossible, the cheapest possible healthcare.gov marketplace plan, the cheapest catastrophic plan, was 17.65% of my estimated yearly income. And I don’t qualify for any subsidy whatsoever simply for the mere fact that my employer OFFERS a plan which I A) can’t sign up for until October, and B) is not affordable either.

There are people I know who make more than me who have access to plans like $21 a month prem. 450 max ded./Out-of-pocket, with everything covered after you spend the $450 max. Just because their employer doesn’t have health insurance through their company.

This program/policy/law is designed to only help and make healthcare affordable to some poor people, but it’s essentially set up to step on/over those who have chosen to move on from a dead-end job and/or improve their work/career goals.

How about the insurance agencies tat went out of business or realized a decrease in revenues forcing them to lay people off?

You didnt do anything with this (client wise) so you do not know. I did. I have heard it all including one I have been trying to push in for about two weeks now. “Technical Problem” is what the “help desk” says. As of this AM, its still not resolved.

Well, an increase of 272% over a plan you liked before is way more than “a few extra bucks.” Secondly, just because you “have the money” doesn’t mean other people in your situation “have the money.” And not everyone qualifies for subsidies. Third, what about the increase in the cost of co-pays and deductibles? What about the limited choice of doctors and hospitals on most plans? And did you notice the article says the prices are expected to start increasing in 2016? And if you do have “the few extra bucks to keep yourself alive,” wouldn’t you rather be able to spend those dollars on something else, especially since your previous plan that you liked and was working just fine for you was way less expensive than the one you now are forced to buy?

Libby, I want you to know I wasn’t one of the ones who gave you a thumb down on your post about your dad. I lost my mom to cancer in 1999. I am so, so sorry for your loss. We disagree on politics and religion, but I think it’s safe to say, we are in 100% agreement on something, and that is, cancer stinks, and losing somebody you love stinks. My mom never complained either. In fact, two weeks before she died, she was worried because she hadn’t seen our neighbor across the street and was hoping that lady was ok and just out of town or something. Imagine, you’re dying of cancer, have just days to live, and you’re worried about your neighbor and not yourself? I was in awe over that. Your dad and my mom were both wonderful role models on how to handle suffering and adversity.

That is what he is counting on to try to help his buddies get re-elected in the fall since none of his policies work and haven’t from day 1. Gee, I wonder why so many of his cohorts are running way behind. They will have to get the dead people out in droves to pull this out.

A little off subject FFA. I told you my wife was having a Spine Stimulator installed to relieve the terrible pain she was having for the past 15 years and after 5 major back surgeries. Well, she had it installed and after waiting for 2 weeks to let the incisions heal, she got it turned on yesterday. She is already feeling some relief and hopefully it will do better as she learns more about what the settings should be. They will do some more fine tuning in about a month. In any case, it is much better than what she was going through on the constant pain.

Screw everyone else that has cancer and couldn’t get insurance before! As long as it doesn’t cost me more money. You have no idea how ungrateful and petty you sound. It’s pathetic.

Hey Jack, did you see the article in Newsmax.com today on the 442 tax hikes Obama has formally proposed since first taking office? This was compiled by the Americans for Tax Reform. The lowest number was in the fiscal year 2012/13 during an election cycle. After he was re-elected, he promptly went way back up in 2014 and projects another 93 in 2015. This does not include the 20 new taxes in Obamacare. The Tax and Spend Dimwits think they can tax and spend their way to prosperity.

Most of these are administrative proposals, repeal previous tax breaks that provided little to no benefit to the country, or reforms to simplifiy the tax code.

I have the list right here in front of me weak minded Ron. There are plenty of tax increases built in and many deal with taxes on the Oil & Gas Industry and disallowing credits on business. Call them administrative if you like, but they are all bad for America. Speaking of letting other people do thinking for you, you don’t have an original thought and let left wing and government websites do your thinking for you. Who is the knucklehead here? Agent,

Please list all of the actual direct tax increases on the list. Just because your hero Grover Norquist calls something a tax increase does not make it so. You talk about spin.

How many of these were implemented and what was the negative impact on the economy? Proposals mean nothing if they cannot be implemented. I don’t give a rat’s ass about ideology or methodology, I care about results. Nearly all economic indicators have shown improvement since President Obama took office. Is it because of him? Highly unlikely. But that has been my position, one person cannot fix or destroy our country or economy, period. President Reagan did not single-handedly fix the mess he inherited. He needed support from Congress. The diference between then and now is that Congress wants no part in working with President Obama because they fear if the economy recovers quickly, President Obama will get all of the credit and it would burn the Republicans to see someone who does not look like them to get all of the credit. I am not saying they are all racist, but to think race does not play a role in their current strategy to make him look bad is extremely naive. Nobody has yet to show where his policies are considerably different than most presidents before him. It is all rhetoric and talking points, but no facts. Cite me what he has proposed, not what some right-wing think tank or “news” source says are his proposals and I will find a similar proposal from a previous president.
Hint: The PPACA was not his proposal, he wanted a single-payer universal health care system or at least a public option.

I did not want you to list all of the “tax increase”. I wanted you to provide insightful analysis. Apparently that is WAY above your intellectual capabilities.

The points I was making were:
            1. MOST of these are not actual tax increases and can only be defined as such by doing some creative spinning.
            2. Are proposals, not implemented law.
            3. Have not negatively affected the economy, especially businesses who are making record profits and just stashing the cash instead of reinvesting the capital and creating more jobs.

            Now, prove me wrong.

In addition, repealling a credit that was not providing the intended benefit may be considered a tax increase because Grover Norquist told you so. However, it sounds more like simplifying the tax code. Isn’t that something for which Conservatives have been advocating?+

If you want to play that game, what do you call lowering taxes when there is a budget deficit? Answer: increased spending.

Please provide evidence that I have ever, let alone excessively used marijuana. Hint: My posts are not evidence.

I will respectfully ask that you refrain from making any direct or indirect references to me using marijuana or any other illegal drug in the future. Can you do that?

            Ron,

Since he won’t answer I will:

            1. Removing a credit is a tax increase. It is spinning to say that it is not.

            2. Whether or not most of those are proposals, does not negate that this law does come with tax increases, but worse, habitual changes in economy. These types of regulations, as did the gas pricing laws around Carter’s era, harm the economy. The economy is not recovering as fast as it should. Debate that. You cannot. Reagan’s recovery was faster.

            3. CORPORATIONS are reaping record profits, businesses are not. Businesses are still failing at record rates. The reason behind this, is as usual, democrats are getting in with their buds, and they are not helping the core of America business. The reason behind jobs not opening up is not solely those reaping record profits (though through laws like these they can certainly crush smaller businesses or businesses they force into a bad spot) it is because small businesses are still not strong. 98% of small businesses aren’t large enough to be included with corporations. This came from Obama’s mouth.

            Spectacular,

            1. Removing a credit that was not providing the intended benefit to the economy is correcting an error in passing such credit. That is a valid tax increase. In addition, it simplifies the tax code.

I guess you would agree with me that implementing tax cuts during a budget deficit is additional spending, right?

            2. I will not debate that the economy recovered faster under President Reagan. What is debateable are the reasons. President Reagan did not face nearly the same level of opposition and we are the most productive workforce ever. The Democratically controlled Congress worked with President Reagan. This Congress would not even pass President Obama’s American Jobs Act that was full of tax credits to companies who hired veterans and the long-term unemployed. They did not like it because he had the audacity to want it paid for with tax increases on those who could afford an increase. You know, fiscal responsibility. All President Reagan did was increase spending while cutting taxes causing the US to reached a trillion dollars in debt. At the time, the debt increased more than all of the president before him combined and ran deficits each year. Sound familiar? Why were debt and deficits not important while he was in office?

            3. Please provide statistics about the number of failing business and cite your source. I have asked multiple times and have been unable to find any data on businesses created and dissolved. Pleae do not tell me to use common sense and just look around. I am numbers based and will not be influence by rhetoric or anecdotal evidence.

Read the Marijuana study more carefully. Anyone smoking Marijuana on either a casual basis or heavier use suffers brain trauma. I tried signing up, the cheapest possible plan, the cheapest catastrophic plan, was 17.65% of my income and is deemed by the government as unaffordable. And I don’t qualify for any tax credit subsidy because my employer offers a plan. A plan that has crappy coverage and is overly expensive as it is. However, had I stuck with my delivery driving job I had before which didn’t offer a health plan, I would be able to get a $254 tax credit on a plan I would pay $21 a month with a $400 maximum out of pocket/yr.

Just the mere fact that my employer OFFERS an insurance plan makes it so I can’t afford health insurance. Why should someone making as much as me if not more get a freakin’ dream plan essentially for free while I go entirely uninsured? Just because the employer does or doesn’t offer a health insurance plan? That’s absurd, those whose employer doesn’t offer a plan can sign up for private insurance just as easily as I could.

The reason is that it is a system that incentivizes being poor or becoming more poor. The system is basically telling me, “Go back to a dead end delivery driving job and you’ll be totally covered. Try and improve yourself and good ****ing luck ***hole.”

Destro: How much do you pay for your employer-sponsored plan and do you participate in it?

The ACA is supposed to provide affordable care for those that have been uninsured. Usually people are uninsured because they can’t afford the coverage or they have a pre-existing condition that prohibits coverage. It’s not intended as a free ride for healthy, young Americans that are able-bodied and working.

Wow! Just when I thought I could not be astounded, the hypocrisy of Republicans continues to astound me.

How is there no grey area for help in getting affordable healthcare between $254 a month in tax credits if I work at a delivery driving job vs $0 because I work in an office building, making less money than I was delivery driving?

I love how liberals love ACA except when an actual real life case happens where the person making below the poverty line unless they work 55 hours a week for overtime pay(which I do), and I get attacked for pointing out that somebody working 32 hours a week delivering pizzas deserves to get a massive tax credit. With no middle ground whatsoever to help me get healthcare at an even remotely affordable cost.

I would think you could answer the question “Does your employer offer a plan?” as NO right now, because they aren’t offering you a plan at this time. Not until October. Once October rolls around, you’ll be able to see what your employers plan is. Maybe it’s not as bad as you think. After all, it must conform with ACA requirements.

            But you missed open enrollment.

You’re less likely to be pigeon holed and will move up quickly if you are motivated and eager. What state are you in?

You might be better off delivering pizzas at night or on the weekend than working overtime at the call center.

But my basic point is, I’m no more able to afford insurance than the ex co-workers at the pizza place I was at, yet they can receive a veritable healthcare dream plan for pennies on the dollar while the government deems the cheapest possible marketplace option which is more than twice the “8% of yearly income” rule as unaffordable. And with student loan debt and credit card debt due in large part to car repairs, it really is unaffordable unless I want to bury myself in debt the rest of my life. So I’m screwed at the moment with no insurance.

Look for a premium auditor job – they actually work for the insurance company and review the insured for proper exposure. I loved being an auditor for an insurance company.

Also, NCCI hires “investigators” who do a similar job, just without the payroll requirement. Yes, NCCI is almost like working for the government, but not really. They are funded by membership.

Destro, there are any number of Independent Auditor jobs out there since many of the large carriers have farmed out this function as well as Loss Control positions/inspections. Companies just don’t do what they used to do since they are worried about costs and paying benefits to employees, especially Healthcare benefits with the advent of Obamacare. They also farm out a lot of claims functions. It makes one wonder who and where the real employees are with these companies.

Until you can afford a healthcare plan, you might consider an accident and a serious illness policy, both of which should be relatively inexpensive compared to a health policy. AFLAC has some good affordable plans as well as Combined and sometimes these types of policies are offered by life insurance companies.

But business owners like you not even giving young people an opportunity is helping them how? You had a couple negative experiences and have already written off an entire generation. What if Dr. Carson was written off because he was from a traditionally under-achieving demographic? Somebody gave him a chance even though the odds were against him.

There has been net job growth during 44 of the 48 months since the PACA was signed into law. Please explain to me how that is killing jobs. I agree that job growth needs to be higher, but it is not getting worse. In addition, young people should be targeted by companies since most can stay on their parents’ health insurance until 26, thanks to the PPACA. Finally, the EPA was created by a Republican.

Ron, it is clear you have not ever had to make a hiring or firing decision as an owner of a business. You have not had the expense out of your own pocket either. Carson succeeded in the medical field, not business depending on sales for success. He had a lot of grit to get educated and then there was demand for his services. So you are still trotting out the line about net job growth since Obamacare was installed? Ron, I hate to tell you, but hiring has been anemic to say the least. 6 years into the so called “recovery” and not much going on, particularly with young people. A country who has recovered from a recession should be generating twice the jobs and shouldn’t be having 250,000 to 300,000 new jobless claims a month.

            Agent,

Nice to see you thuming up your own posts still.

Why do I need to have experience hiring or firing people to comprehend your posts? If you keep hiring producers who do not turn out to be successful, what does that say about your ability to select good talent, train, and foster them? You will say it is the generation, but you still hired them. You took a risk and lost. Brush yourself off and move on. Stop judging an entire generation because talented people do not want to work for you.

What part of, “I agree that job growth needs to be higher…” do you not comprehend?

I never said we are fully recovered, all I have ever said is that the economy is improving and the facts back me up. You have yet to provide data showing the economy is getting worse under President Obama. Until you can do that, SHUT IT!!!!

            You fail…again!!

It sounds like you have a good boss Destro. Work hard, keep impressing him and you will do well. I wish the two young producers I hired had the same attitude and showed me something. The sky was the limit for them and they blew it.

Destro, It looks like you are serving a waiting period to get on the company plan. Do they pay your employee only cost when you get on it? If you are married, they might not pick up expense on the spouse or any children. Really, if you are interested in the Insurance business, the place to be is in an Independent Agency where you can sell and service business. I was fortunate to do that many years ago and have done well. If there is a large agency in your area with producers on the street and they can pay you enough to live on and have some benefits, that is much better than doing call center for a company which probably doesn’t have a whole lot of potential. I would avoid a Captive Agent company like the plague since they talk a good game and then screw you at some point. FFA can tell you all about the wonderful Farmer’s Group that he was with prior to splitting off and going Independent.

Again with the no reading comprehension thing, Agent. He said he had a degree in Accounting. Chances are he wants to work with numbers, not sales.

Destro, one thing about an Accounting degree is that you can work in any industry. But insurance certainly has a need for numbers people. Even a large agency needs an accounting department. Good luck with your career.

Libby, Libby, Libby. What an idiot you are. I posted my question before he said he had an Accounting Degree. Hey Destro, perhaps you should investigate working for a CPA. You will have all you can stay up with on the tax issues since Obama keeps adding new taxes to the American People to pay for his wonderful Social programs including Obamacare which has 20 new taxes built right in to it. By the way, the government collected record tax revenues in the most recent quarter and still managed to spend $400 billion+ than they took in. Progressives are running this country into the ground. Perhaps after November, we will get some relief from this burden.

Isn’t it the one that yell loudest about others that turn out to be the perpetrator (or perp, as you like to say). I hope you never have the nerve to call me a liar again. You have been caught red-handed. Not once have you caught me in a lie, because I DON’T LIE.

You are a “LIAR” of the first magnitude Libby. Kind of like your President who said – If you like your plan, you can keep it, PERIOD! If you like your doctor, you can keep him, PERIOD! 39 times on tape. All the garbage you put out, insulting Knotins and others does not stand you in good stead with others on this forum.

Agent, just because you say it (over and over ad nauseum) does not make it true.

Name ONE TIME I have lied on here. I dare you. You won’t be able to because I don’t lie. I don’t need to lie. Why would I lie? You mean nothing to me. I have no need to lie to you.

So, I’m waiting and I’m sure I’ll be waiting for a very, very long time, for you to name one thing I have lied about. Put your money where your mouth is or shut the hell up. Preferably the latter.

Yeah, I’ll need to pass the CPA exam if I want to work at a CPA firm as anything other than the janitor. And I do intense to take the CPA exam, it’s just a matter of saving money for a decent exam review/study guide (they’re pretty expensive).

Totally agree about Progressives/Collectivists running the country into the ground. I wonder at what point will the welfare state cause an economic collapse for us. Too much blatant incentivizing of laziness and stagnation with a system that is more or less encourages the exploitation of itself.

Currently there aren’t any openings in the accounting department but I recently introduced myself to the company’s controller and some people in the billing department. I just need to keep my eyes out for opportunity.

Libby – I’m curious about what type of job you have. I hope you are self-employed, commission only or the owner of your company since you made 14 posts on 4/15 and 25 so far today. I had to stop reading after a few comments since it seems none of them from you or others shed any light on the situation.

Lauren, let me fill you in on what Libby does since I have the history on her. She is a glorified Commercial Lines CSR for an agent and thinks she is The Agent because she is licensed. If she is The Agent and has contracted with companies, signed any payroll checks for employees or paid any agency bills, she is sure dumb about agency operations. I keep expecting her boss to cut her loose since she trolls 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

Lauren: I am a claims manager at a mid-sized local agency. My work here comes in spurts and yes, I can blog and work at the same time. I also post from home. If you don’t like reading my comments, by all means stop. There is no need for you to take your precious time to post a comment about them, is there?

And there is no light to shed on the situation. Especially not on IJ. Why don’t you ask Agent what kind of job he has? He matches me post for post.

Lauen CIC ARM – you must be new here. Because if you’d been around awhile, you would know that within 10 posts we go off topic. Sometimes so far off topic (talking about the Bulls or the Cubs or the Rangers and occasionally, we venture into TMI) that we get lost. You know what? That’s ok.

FFA, Let me be the first to wish you a very Happy Easter. I hope everything is going well up there on the frozen tundra. Despite all the trauma we have been going through with the economy, markets, Healthcare debate, we still live in the best country of the world. If we can survive the Progressive onslaught until November and change out the Senate, we have a real chance to change things in DC and bring our Constitutional Republic back.
