“The House spent $2.3 million to defend a law denying federal marriage benefits to same-sex couples because the Obama administration wouldn’t do so. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the House in 2013.”

Come on people. Where’s the outrage with this frivolous waste of money? It’s posturing and a complete waste of time and money.

      Libby,

Do not question their expertise with fiscal matters. Like the Incredible Burt Wonderstone they will be able to make magic out of this. “Watch as I make this expense disappear and land on the ‘Murrican Express Credit Card”

‘Murrican Express Operator: We’re sorry you have too many wars on this card. This charge can not be completed as requested.

John Boehner: “Let me talk to a supervisor while I’m still sober!”

‘Murrican Express Supervisor: “We are showing there is a deficiency in your budget and you are in the Red.

John Boehner: “Prove it, I’m getting sschhhlloshed!”

‘Murrican Express Supervisor: “Have you heard of Texico?”

John Boehner: What’s it to you?

‘Murrican Express Supervisor: “There’s your loss”

      John Boehner: PPPPPUUUUUKKKKKEEEE!!!!!!

I’ve been silent long enough. Even watching you guys here is quite annoying. The amount you and others bring me up when I’ve been gone for a good month and a half is insane. My swearing is always a result of two to three extremely rude people here: Inclusive of you, who never admit they are wrong and spout the same old lies without looking it up while accusing others of arguing without facts and rhetoric. For example case in point and back on topic:

The Keynesian argument for Reagan is wrong and you keep spouting it off with the worst data I have ever seen.

            http://www.ipi.org/docLib/reagandf.pdf-OpenElement.pdf

You have said this lie again, and again, and again, that Reagan is Keynesian. Reagan never endorsed, and never proposed, higher spending with tax cuts to spur the economy. He even tried higher taxes his first term in order to get spending cuts, which he wanted. I ave shown you in 20 different you are wrong regarding Reagan.

You then even tried to show Obama didn’t increase the deficit as much as his predecessors by using a chart that compared his spending increases per year by comparison to Bush W’s highest year. This was a another strike to your “independent” behavior. You were wrong on Reagan, and then tried to find any way to say Obama’s debt wasn’t that bad. With Reagan you find anyway to say it is just as bad as Obama. That’s a negative. With Obama you find anyway to lighten up his issues. That’s a positive. You over estimate positive traits on democrats and over estimate negatives on republicans. You constantly say to agent that his rhetoric and uniformed talking are why you don’t trust republicans, yet you also constantly debate with him and not my facts. Back to what you said about Obama on debt increasing it less than any other president, maintaining spending at a level that was just recently increased to a historic high, rather than having it as an off year, does make him worse than Bush W. Bush W had a spike. Obama maintained that spike.

I told you that democrats in congress have always argued against spending cuts they originally put in place or didn’t honor them. And this link shows it.

            http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/nov/12/reagan-taxes-and-spending-cuts/

Note: That first link shows Reagan’s congress outspend what he requested each time. The first republican congress in about 40 years during Clinton UNDER spent Clinton’s requests every time. The two parties are not at all similar on spending. Also note they promised the same thing as I told you before: 1 to 3 for taxes to spending. It never happens.

And all your other comments here calling democrats and republicans hard to discern from each other are completely dishonest. Abortion? Gun control? Foreign policy? PPACA? The republicans did have an alternative healthcare plan to the PPACA. What amazes me is you compare a plan 20 years prior (which didn’t garnish republican support and didn’t pass, aka the individual mandate) rather than the plan they had on the ground by comparison to the PPACA without a mandate which gave up to a $5,000 debit card to poor families to buy insurance. You used a plan not supported that didn’t go through, 20 years ago, to call the republicans the same as democrats. That shows some high level of democrat bias, not independent thought. You constantly say you don’t approve of the PPACA, but you don’t approve of republicans dedicating themselves to replacing it. You then say they should push their values if there is any merit to them rather than give up. You create a scenario where they cannot make you happy. They take huge action you call it invasive. They don’t take action you say they can’t get anything done.

You also say they are the same on social security, while saying they are trying to get rid of it. Are they the same or not? If they are different how?

You try to say that their 2003-2007 numbers majority shows what they did. No. The votes do. Which you never compare. The republicans were blocked on most change even during their majorities. I have shown you bills that failed to pass, and it was not republican fault. All it takes is the minority of republicans (even 3 in the Senate would do it at the time) and a republican ideal can’t pass. It was democrats that voted in those cases all 45 of them, with the 3 republicans, ergo democrat fault, to block good republican ideals. When Agent says he doesn’t like Rhinos this is consistent. But you refuse to acknowledge that and call him names. He doesn’t like the 3 that get in the way. You don’t like the 3, and blame the 40 other republican senators, but you don’t blame the 40-50 democrats.

Going based on majority minority is irrelevant. I don’t care who was in charge. I care who over all influenced the choice as a matter of the percentage of republicans and percentage of democrats that voted for or against. Do you or do you not understand the difference?

You’re a liar, a fraud, and a fake. You are not a moderate.

            bob,

You need to pay better attention to my posts. You and Agent have consistently shown poor reading comprehension of my posts. Maybe my points are too nuanced for you.

I did not say Reagan was Keynesian. What I said was that some Keynesian principles were implemented during his term. There was increased spending, growth in the federal government and even some tax increases.

Here are a couple of good reads to support my positions.

            http://mises.org/econsense/ch12.asp
            http://mises.org/daily/1544

I have even expressed in multiple posts that I think President Reagan was the best president during my lifetime. FYI I was born in 1971.

I find it hysterical that when talking about spending during a Republican’s administration, it is Congress’s fault, but during a Democrat’s administration, it is the administration’s fault.

The reason I do not rtrust Republicans is becasue they are not the fiscally conservative Republicans for whom I used to vote. Believe it or not, I used to vote mostly Republican until the middle 2000’s when they started cutting taxes and increasing spending at the same time. That does not work and is the main reason we have our current debt problem. I hope the Republicans gain control again and go back to their fiscally conservative approach and abandon their fascination with social issues.

Good treatise Bob. I am sure Ron will say you insulted his intelligence with your presentation of the facts. One thing we have to remember is that a liberal has no understanding of the basics on Economics, hence their blind following of Keynsian spending as a way to improve the economy. They will never get that cutting taxes is the most effective way of stimulating an economy since jobs are created which pay more taxes and therefore spurs revenue to the government. They think the only way to increase revenue is to raise taxes over and over and it actually reduces revenue by killing job growth. That is why Obamacare is so destructive with all its multitude of taxes and we have a languishing economy for the past 6 years with the past 4 being particularly bad.

I am sure you have noticed that Obama is under water in opinion polls by double digits and all he has left are his true believers who don’t really care and think he has been honest with the American People. Good to have you back. Keep up the good posting.

No Ron, you aren’t getting an out. I will add you started again with an insult, that my reading comprehension is poor. No. I’m reading between your lines. Your writing is poor and your reflective though is a twisted mess.

Perhaps you didn’t get that I already directed what you put below. I knew this would be your response. So I in advance pointed out in one of my posts that you always say something to the extent of “spending went up during Reagan”. Or in that post, I pointed out that I care who actually caused the spending. Not that it was passed. Reagan did not market on higher spending. It happened in his watch. You would have thrown a fit if he shut down the government and refused to pass the democrat congresses plans for lowered spending. He did not advocate lower spending. It happened despite Reagan. Not due to him. The democrats are the reason. And you need to admit that immediately. You have said instead that he supported Keynesian principles. You said it in this very article. Rather than saying I misinterpreted your writings, where you have consistently said that Reagan is Keynesian or agreed with the principles, it is time to admit my comprehension of your opinion that he is Keynesian is correct, while your opinion that Reagan wanted increased spending is not correct.

If you liked Reagan, which you are likely lying on, then stop saying he advocated things he did not.

            That is all.

Ron to make it more clear because I actually didn’t do a good job of writing that:

You say because Reagan was president and spending went up, he is the reason and Keynesian principles went in place during his presidency.

That’s why I said what if he fought them like the PPACA and shut down the government?

You said the republicans needed to drop that fight because it wasn’t going anywhere.

And Reagan needed to…Take the fight right?

            You are inconsistent.

Reagan had two options: Create a class warfare with the democrats, or let the spending go how they wanted to get tax cuts. He chose the later.

He did not endorse spending. It was called getting things done. Something Reagan was good at.

They are the Democrat loving Progressives that love to steal from the American People with their tax and spend philosophy and almost totally dishonest. What else did we expect? They hate me so much because I stand up for Conservatism and when they can’t win an argument, they steal my moniker and post their trash under it. Low life scum is a good description of some of them.

You don’t even argue, you copy and paste articles, add a few “beautiful” adjectives, and type whatever is spewing into your tin foil hat from the lone AM radio station that you get in West, Texico. You choose a topic of the day $619B for example, Benghazi, keep your doctor and your policy, blah, blah, blah. There is an inherent difference between saying someone’s principals suck,

And then taking Akin’s statement to try and say that all republicans think that forcible rape is a hot topic as opposed to regular rape, and that they hate women, and that women’s bodies can shut down rape babies and use that to call republicans stupid.

And that they hate gays, and are homophobic, and are bible thumpers,

I don’t get it. The Republicans are against the healthcare law and have voted numerous times to get rid of it. Obama pushes back the date that employers are required to provide insurance by, giving companies longer to comply with the new law, and this is a problem? I would have thought it would be a victory for those against the law – giving more time to change or repeal it before going fully into effect. But they get what they want and are suing?

So, the house didn’t spend $2.3M to lose a case in the SCOTUS?

What about all they money they spent (counting salaries & paper & misc expenses) voting to repeal a law knowing their bill will never see the light of day in the Senate?

It is unlikely this lawsuit will be successful since the House doesn’t have standing. So, why spend the money on it?

The Senate is the same way. They do things that cost money and mean nothing. (I don’t have any examples, but I have no doubt this is true)

Why are politicians allowed to spend money on a losing proposition? Shouldn’t there be more accountability?

About all that is voted on are the continuing resolutions in lieu of a real budget. It is easy to hide the huge deficit that way.

There have been dozens of them in the past 4 years from the budget proposals, jobs bills and other legislation that Harry Reid dismisses immediately so he can keep the President from having to veto them. Who is hurting the country more, the House or the Senate? The repeal efforts of Obamacare were legitimated because it was terrible legislation when passed in a partisan manner and has proven to be the disaster we predicted it would be.

For example, that all democrats are fiscally irresponsible, or don’t want government spending to decrease. Or that all liberals don’t believe in God. It stands to reason that categories of people or not “all or none”. That applies to which ever side of the argument you’re on.

Not to mention both Kennedy and LBJ voted against the Civil Rights Act proposed by Eisenhower in ’57. Was definitely aware of “The Byrdman,” the KKK was started by southern Democrats, it’s a fact. I think it’s funny when people refer to Hitler and the Nazi party as “right-wing” but are unaware that “Nazi” party was just the shorthand name for the National Socialist German Workers’ party.

Destro, we forgot one of the more famous southern Democrats on the racism front. The now infamous Governor George Wallace who stood in front of the University of Alabama and refused blacks entrance to enroll. Finally, the Kennedy’s had to send the Feds in to force Wallace’s hand and get the kids in. Then, wonderful George decided to run for President, stir up trouble and got shot and paralyzed from the waist down. He wasn’t through yet, he got wife Lurleen to run for Governor and she won and good old George got to run things from behind the scenes. He was a colorful character and as racist as they come.

Makes me wonder if some of you old guys/gals were even paying attention when many of us were knee-high to a grasshopper. If you didn’t live through it, what kind of American History did you learn? “Dixiecrats”? Anyone? Anyone?

There are also many references to George Orwell on this board. Be reminded that Orwell also said that language makes humans easy to control—control the language and you control the people.

Am I the only one who remembers that the Democratic party began to split late in the New Deal under FDR’s “liberalism” (as we would call it today) and the “Dixiecrat” (1940’s) or “States Rights” (1950’s – 60’s e.g. Governor Wallace). The switch of the solid Democratic south to the more conservative Republican Party happened largely during the 60’s civil rights era. I think that’s about the same time that the Southern Republicans (erstwhile Southern Democrats or “Dixiecrats” began referring to the “DemoCRATIC Party” as “the DemoCRAT Party” with that familiar twang. “The Democrat Party” has since become even a Yankee-Republican pejorative along with “Liberal”.

The powers-that-be want to make all these synonymous with “Communist”, “Fascist”, “Muslim” or anything else that will push a fear button in the electorate. I remember well that it was G.H.W. Bush and the then-VP Dan Quayle who began demonizing the word “Liberal”. “L-Word”? Anyone? Anyone?

Same kinda thing on the other side, only “liberals” are much less organized and efficient in demonizing words. No better, they’re just slower learners.

Like our comment-board friend, Ron, I think the major parties are just 2 sides of the same old coin – what we used to call “The Man”or “The Establishment”. So if you think that this board is merely a place to blow off steam, be cognizant of the words you use – they absolutely have power. Likewise, be aware that use of certain phrases by either side, in my opinion, makes you a “tool of The Man”, or as some like to say “a useful idiot” (btw-“idiot” in its root sense, just means “self-absorbed”) .

But hey, I was a “Liberal” Arts major, so make of it all what you will. Anyhow, it was that English major that led me to insurance, the “Foreign Legion of Business”.

Yes Destro, it would have been interesting to audit one of Obama’s classes teaching the Constitution and seeing what he had to say. As a politician, he expressed great disappointment in the Constitution and that it told him what he couldn’t do rather than what he could do. It is funny, most laws are like that. There is a penalty for not obeying the law. If it is criminal, you go to jail. If it is Civil, you may get sued. Fancy that!

Guess he conveniently forgot that the tax payers pay $176K an hour every time heads out to golf. He has spent more on his vacations and especially his Christmas in Hawaii estimated at $6MM.
As for the suit, it is stupid and should have not been filed. He keeps shooting himself in the foot with his actions and running off at the mouth. Let him continue that but suing is not the answer!

Excerpt: “Those who criticize the cost of Obama’s Christmas vacation don’t want you to know that George W. Bush spent at least $20 million taxpayer dollars just on flights to his ranch in Crawford.

The right wing has been outraged at the four million dollar plus price tag for Obama’s family Christmas vacation, and they constantly hold George W. Bush up as an example of how thrifty a president should be when going on vacation.

The problem is that W. wasn’t thrifty. He was the most expensive vacation president in US history. Not only did Bush spend more days on vacation than any other president, but he used Air Force One more often while on vacation than any other president.”

It really irritates the crap out of me whenever anyone starts bagging on a President – any of them – for taking vacations.

These men do not have standard, 9 to 5, Monday thru Friday jobs. They are on the clock 24/7 for at least 4 (and many times 8) years straight. No matter what you think of their job performance, they DESERVE to be able to take vacations.

Do you really think that when they do go on vacation, they’re not still working? They’re not like underwriters or agents who can let a co-worker keep an eye on their books while they’re out. They don’t get to just hand everything over to the VP, turn off their phones/computers and ignore the world for a week. Whether they’re on the beach or on their ranch, they’re still on duty. They’re just lucky enough to be able to squeeze some time for golfing/swimming/horseback riding in between the various state or the world reports.

Seriously, give the “Oh, how could he take a vacation!” crap a rest. If anyone deserves a vacation once in a while, it’s the President.

I’ve never heard anyone on the right criticize Bush or even acknowledge any of his misdeeds, mistakes, mis-speaks. If I did, I would be more apt to do the same for Obama.

That’s how this whole “Libby” thing got started. Because (several years ago) I originally pointed out that BOTH sides make some of the same errors, I was immediately attacked as being some left-wing wingnut. That pissed me off, so I acted like one.

Destro, I remember criticizing Bush a lot back in the day. He made plenty of mistakes, chiefly acting like a RINO and allowing the exhorbitant spending bills Pelosi and Reid to go through without veto, not informing the American People about the excesses of Fannie & Freddie even though Congress would not regulate them and he told Bawney & Chris to step on them and the reply was that they were sound and no problem. He was in charge of the SEC who was asleep at the switch and before we knew it, we had a financial crisis on our hands which was the result of Progressives on both sides of the aisle doing the wrong thing on sub prime mortgages and not reigning in Wall Street, AIG and others. There is enough blame to go around, but it wasn’t all GW’s fault as Libby proclaims.

No, Uncle Rico is used to thumbing. That’s all he has after he lost his nub in a hospital accident in Alabama. He was getting a trim so he wouldn’t get anymore bugger nuggets. His partner must be a wreck because he’s going to be the one doing all the work from now on. On another post, I saw he and his partner bought a Reagan mask (the kind you rob banks with but they role play) and Thanks to the ACA, they may be able to relocate his big toe and make a new unit.

Nope, it’s because of Biden. Nobody wants him at the helm; the Hildebeest will wipe him off the map if he dares challenge her in 2016.

Also, the reason he has not been impeached is because there’s NO WAY he could be. The republicans don’t have enough votes to pass it (they’d need at least a few dems to vote for impeachment, which ain’t gonna happen). Boehner’s already taken impeachment off the table, and the only one really pushing for it is Palin, and she doesn’t count.

Oh yeah, that and the fact that he’s begging for them to try and impeach him, because he sees how popular Billy Bob is now. Trying to impeach him would give him a victory he can truly brag about once it doesn’t happen.

Folks, we’re stuck with him…not a damn thing anyone can do about it but accept it.

I like your term Hildebeest. That is exactly what she is. By the way, did you see that Bill Clinton got $48 million for speaking engagements to foreign countries while she was Secretary of State? Nothing to see there, right? Conflict of Interest when she was making policy with these foreign governments? Influence Peddling? I doubt if the media will even ask her a question about it. We know they were broke and down and out at the time.

Try this one on for size Libby. The real news just reported that Bill Clinton was making a speech in Australia on 9-10-2001 bragging that he could have gotten Bin Laden and had him in his sights, but he didn’t do it because he was afraid of killing some women and children in Kandahar. 12 hours after his speech, 19 Bin Laden hijackers killed 3,000 of our citizens in NY and DC. He actually may have prevented the worst terrorist attack in our nations history had he gotten Bin Laden. The only thing he did was to send a few cruise missiles to blow up an abandoned training camp. Boy, that sure slowed the terrorists down, didn’t it?

I think it says more about a generational trend of college kids who are young, dumb, and idealistic combined with propagandists like Al Gore and Michael Moore (along with the general leftism of the media) as well as Obama being a charismatic half black man who was immune from vetting or any criticism because of the color of his skin.

Don’t worry though, that “fracturing of the Right” will be solidified come next election now that people can see how Liberalism is doing nothing but tearing our country apart.

Definitely predicting a Republican win in the next Prez election. If the right can actually get a great candidate a Reagan style landslide would not surprise me in the 2020 election. (With the exception of California and New York for obvious reasons.)

As far as the general leftist media, the right can always say that have AM Radio market right? I wouldn’t say it’s liberalism that is destroying the country, it’s the lack of a moderate party that is tearing apart on both seams proving that a two party system doesn’t work.

I don’t think it’s so much a poisoning of the well as much as it is ensuring future candidates don’t receive a free pass from any and all criticism solely because they’re not white (although in the case of Dem presidential candidates they will still claim racism, even if the Republican candidate is also non-white). It’s just pathetic that it took such a blatant and obvious example to show people that the complete failure of foreign and domestic ideology maybe shouldn’t have been dismissed as “racism.”

Destro, regarding the Cold War, Reagan won it against Gorbachev and the old Soviet Union. Obama has it cranked up again with Putin. Putin is just playing with him. So much for “I will be more flexible in my second term”. Flexible means weakness and Obama has that going for him.

Ron, again I hate to remind you, but I have been very critical of how Republicans have governed when they had control and how many RINO’s were reaching across the aisle and adopting Progressive Keynsian spending particularly when Pelosi-Reid were in charge of the House & Senate, lack of oversight of Fannie & Freddie which led to the housing bubble etc. However, that type of governing pales in comparison to how we have been governed the past 6 years. It was so bad in the 09-10 first year of Obama after he rammed Obamacare down the nation’s throat that the Demwits lost control of the House. I think the folks were a little bit upset with them, don’t you?

If you do not like how Republicans have governed, why did you state, “it won’t be hard to compare and contrast between a Republicans governance and the one we have had for 6 long years and counting.” My contention is that neither party is that much different than the other and neither knows how to govern. It seems we agree on that point.

If the reason why we saw the transition in the House to Republican control in the 2010 mid-terms is because people were upset about the PPACA, why was President Obama re-elected, Democrats gained 8 seats in the House and 2 in the Senate? You always seem to gloss over those facts.

Correction Ron, people are still upset about Obamacare. I can’t help it if people have been disengaged, apathetic, married to their cell phone, not caring about the fate of their country, drawing their entitlements, going on disability and just too stupid or lazy to care what happens unless it affects them personally. The country has finally started waking up as evidenced by governance rated somewhere in the high thirties to low forties. There are a lot of liberals and RINO’s up for re-election this time and many should start cleaning out their desk for supporting the agenda.

It really comes down to basic beliefs between parties. Here is the difference between a Republican and a Democrat-

A Republican Congressman and a Democrat Senator was walking down the street in DC. The Republican sees a man sitting on a curb with a tin cup asking for money. The Republican takes 20 bucks out of his pocket and give it to the man and his business card. He tells the man to contact his office and he will put him into contact with several people who can help him get a job.

So impressed the Democrat Senator says “Let me try that”. About two blocks later there is another man sitting on a curb with a tin cup asking for money. The Democrat says “I will handle this”. He pulls 20 bucks out of the Republican’s pocket walks over and gives it to the guy along with directions to the welfare office. Upon leaving he says “good luck”.
That is the basic difference between a Democrat and a Republican

You are right Sargeant about the differences between liberal Democrats and Republicans. They are for massive government, control of the people, high taxation. True Republicans are for limited government, freedom and less taxation.

In the case of the current President, he has messed in his kit and the people have turned against him, even a lot of moderate Democrats. I saw a good political cartoon this morning. It had Obama ascending into AF1 followed by one of his minions. The minion said – Don’t worry Mr. President, they can’t impeach you for total incompetence.

        Uncle Rico,

Massive Government = how about the military largest part of the government. It’s also the jobs program republicans instituted for drop outs, college kids in severe debt, and defense contractors.

High Taxation? In Texico? The federal government has to subsidize all things Texico, including your lipstick that you put on before you fellatiate those in uniform (has oil in it)

Limited Government? You mean SWAT teams replacing police departments, and armies replacing swat teams? Oversized military, layer and layers of government at the local level is big government. You are just giving your local dog catcher power. Less government so that you can keep pulling the wool over Southerner’s eyes? Pray Tell.

Freedom? You forgot liberty and justice you RINO, just a few of the other code words. You would have said those words if you were a true republican.

You look at a lot of cartoons. Do you color them after someone reads them to you?

Sorry Libby, but you’re just not as popular as you think you are. Just like Obama – you’re a legend in your own mind. Obama’s legacy is going to be a doozy – especially for being the first mixed-raced president and that’s what you get when you vote for someone because of the color is his skin (to make history) and not by the experience he has listed on his resume. Period.

Good one Always. The libs on this site just cannot stand it that they have defended this man for 6 years and everything he has done has turned to crap because of his pushing leftist ideology onto a great nation and there is rebellion against it. He is underwater by double digits on about every policy issue and it is eating them up so they resort to name calling, nasty insults and it doesn’t get very far. Libby tries to get out of it by saying she didn’t vote for Obama, just against McCain and Romney. Look at what her vote has wrought for the country. Ron did the same thing and actually thinks he made the right vote twice. His typical milquetoast reply is that he has been disappointed in some of the policies. If he were thinking clearly and had the right sense of right and wrong, he would be totally outraged long before now.

And yes, I think some people voted for Obama precisely because of the color of his skin and these same people thought that he’d be lifting them out of poverty and supplying them with all the entitlements (Obama Phones) that deemed deserving. The people on the South Side of Chicago are staring to wake up. Some are calling Obama the worst president ever because of the atrocities that are going on with our borders. The illegals are getting better treatment and more security than the folks on the South Side and they are pissed and rightly so. here’s why I think people are upset about Benghazi–It’s not so much that it was first declared an overreaction to a video, it’s that Obama was at the time running on a platform of keeping us safe and was saying that the war on terror was winding down. To admit in the beginning that the assault on the embassy in Benghazi was a terrorist attack could have given Romney an edge that the Obama campaign was unwilling to concede. Sadly, it comes down to politics.

Re the IRS scandal, even Obama and Pelosi came out in anger about it. I don’t care how wacky the Tea Party is, targeting a group because of their beliefs is wrong, whether it’s by frequent audits or making them jump through more hoops than another group. Imagine if Pro Choice or Anti-War groups had been targeted by the IRS during the Bush administration? I think people would be more outraged. However, I still don’t think this will be able to be tied directly back to Obama.

Personally, I’m sick of it all. I’m sick that it seems like every issue is now owned by the Left or the Right. If you support Israel, you’re most likely a Republican. If you believe in climate change, you’re most likely a democrat. Nobody’s an American first anymore, and it’s ridiculous. It’s why people are getting more and more turned off by politics.

Just my 2 cents, which nobody asked for.

FFA, following is something I saw this morning that is guaranteed to get a lot of thumb downs, but I could care less what the left think.
Definition of Conundrum – Something that is puzzling or confusing.

Here are six Conundrums of Socialism in the USA.
        1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half the population is subsidized.
        2. Half the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.
        3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.
        4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer.
        5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
        6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

          Agent,

You and the rest of the Conservatives/Republicans only think that these are conundrums is because you believe these things to be true.

          1. Define what is meant by subsidized. Is any tax credit considered a subsidy? If that is the case, we are nearly, if not 100% subsidized. This has absolutely nothing to do with being capitalistist and/or greedy.
          2. Not nearly as many people think they are victims of the government as what you have been told by your right-wing “news” sources. Many more believe they are victims of capitalism.
          3. Individuals do not select their representatives.
          4. The poor are getting poorer not because of their representatives. That issue is way to complicated to put on government alone.
          5. Even most of the poor in this country appreciate what they have.
          6. Most people in this country do not want to be like other countries. We just understand that some countries out-perform the United States in areas such as health, happiness, education and overall satisfaction. We believe that, even as great as our country is, we have room for improvement.

Hey Ron, you should go onto Townhall.com today and see the results of the latest poll that surveyed voters. 41% now believe that Obama does not want to be POTUS anymore. His recent behavior of drinking beer, shooting pool, golfing when crises are gong on everywhere and petulant remarks criticizing Republicans for not doing his bidding and the prospects of having both the Senate & House against him the next few years is weighing on him. the breakdown is as follows: 37% Democrats, 44% Republicans and 47% Independents feel this way. Are you one of the 47% of Independents or on the other side? As goofy as Biden is, he may lend some humor for the remaining time of this term.

I have no opinion on whether or not I think President Obama still wants to be president or not becasue I do not know the man. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. It would not surprise me in the least if nearly every president did not want to deal with everything that comes with being the president at some point in their terms. They are under a lot of pressure, on the job 24/7-365, and have so many responsibilities. It is only human.

Ron, I agree that you have no opinion on anything unless you go to a website and adopt their opinion. You were born without the ability to see clearly, know right from wrong, particularly regarding the actions of political leaders or their inactions. For the past six years, the country has been languishing with the total lack of good leadership from our government. Those of us that can actually see what is going on and how bad it is for our great country are heartbroken. You should be too, but I know that is a lot to ask of an Independent Liberal.

You are not about facts and opinions.

You are jaded person who hates politics, but for some reason hates republicans more.

You constantly speak of being superior to agent, due to having opinions merited by facts. Everyone has an opinion merited by a fact. Whether or not it was a well researched fact is another story.

You are not superior to agent. You are superior at showing sources, which each have their own agenda and manipulation. You are not superior at life knowledge in politics and or common sense in politics. Agent knows his facts but doesn’t have a source readily available for each. That happens when you basically know a lot and get into what I’m guessing is easily his 50’s. Sources for all of your data you know in life are not manageable on how you learned each.

If you were to tell me you remember the sources for all of your opinions, you would be a liar.

And to me, it seems, as you use sources awfully quickly, you often are guilty of looking something up on the spot and forming an opinion far too quickly, or searching for a source to make your already existent opinion have back up. This means you are extremely defensive of your opinions at best, or are guilty of forming opinions against the right at a whim at worst.

I pull out sources when I need them. I don’t use the fact that I have sources to become some sort of source tyrant. I just tell someone they are wrong.

Agent is obviously older than you. He obviously knows more than you about Reagan, and you obviously were not old enough to vote when Reagan was around. I would guess you were born in the 80’s.

On the Fox site today is a story of a Nevada couple who enrolled on the Nevada site. They had a difficult birth, operations, etc and were presented a $1.2 million medical bill. The exchange screwed up and put the wrong birth date on the application for the policy so the claim was denied. How is that for government efficiency? Of course, they got an attorney and will fight it and it may eventually be resolved, but it is a joke what this has come down to.

Yes Ron, I have seen some of your “facts” you love so well. Straight off your government or left leaning websites to paint a rosy picture of how Socialism is great, Keynsian spending is the answer to recover the economy etc. We are now passing $7 Trillion in new debt added by your guys in 6 years. Why not just send an annual check for $100,000 to every real Small Business taxpayer in the country and the economy would be doing ever so much better. Oh no! we need Socialized Medicine and hundreds of new spending programs because we know how much that will help the country.

You have no clue what is Socialism. I have asked multiple times for you to provide examples of Socialism that have occurred since President Obama took office or any proposal from him that would constitute a push towards Socialism.

This is what I mean that you are about opinions and not facts.

I can only assume that you do not read my entire posts. I have NEVER stated that I believe Keynesian spending is the sole answer to revover the economy. Even President Reagan believed that some Keynesian principles were need to recover from the mess he inheritied from President Carter.

            Source.

You said you always source quote, so where’s the source about Reagan endorsing Keynesian principles?

Reagan did not believe in Keynesian principles. When my link posts you will see my proof of this.

You have never shown any data showing that Reagan himself endorsed higher spending.

By the way I am back. After you guys have spent the last month basically bullying Agent. Having a hay day while the only person here who had good information isn’t here to help him?

Read my link when it posts. It goes over what presidents asked for, vs what congress spent. One goes over Reagan agreeing to do tax increases to get 3 dollars of spending cuts he never got. That was before the famous tax cuts. He wanted spending cuts first, tax cuts second. After the democrats refused to reduce spending as promised, he went for tax cuts. No coincidence, his spending went up taxes went down and now the democrats who did the spending say that’s what he wanted. Reagan was blamed for both, and it wasn’t him.

Simply saying Reagan was in office and showing spending does not show who is culpable for the spending.

Just like how you tried to argue simply saying Obama is in office does not show he is responsible for the spending.

But in Obama’s case, he endorsed every section of the spending and campaigned on it.

Extension of unemployment benefits, increased food stamps, which republicans are fighting with him on.

QE, Stimulus, QE doesn’t even show on the budget and was 2.4 trillion in 4 years.

He owns his debt. Reagan does not own Keynesian principles. At all.

Obama was going to pull the country out of the ditch and restore prosperity to everyone. “The last thing I think about at night when I do to bed and when I wake up in the morning is fixing the economy”. Well, he fixed it allright. The economy has gone in the ditch, turned over several times and caught on fire. Libby will have to dismantle it before she decides to total it.

            Just as a random comment:

Thank God we have arguing about politics in this country.

Go look up some Russian opinions. You can use a translator built into your web browser to read the comments by Russians. They really are indoctrinated there, are really rather egotistical, and manliness is just about the most important thing. It’s pure insanity. There are politicians there who are top aids to Putin, hired by Putin, who thinks the U.S. is the Antichrist nation and they believe Russia must one day destroy America to fulfill biblical prophesy. And a good portion of the people in Russia believe that or something similar in regards to the U.S.

It gave me a new appreciation for politics in the U.S.

I actually approve of Obama’s handling of Russia and Sanctions.

Though I don’t approve of his handling of ISIS.

I do think we should respect what we have here a little more. Yes. Obama’s an idiot but we enjoy more freedoms here than anywhere else even with Obama.

Side comment: I’m way more for owning a gun now that I am better educated in the Quran, and understand the last few times Islamic movements have tried to basically create a world order.

I did not want to make peace, just remove the insults from the debate. If that cannot happen because I do not have an opinion on whether or not President Obama still wants to be the president, then you are just being petty.

I have expressed my opinions about President Obama many times based on his actions and inactions. I have expressed my disappointments as well. What more do you want? The only way I will ever state that I regretted a vote for any politician, including some Conservatives, is if someone can prove the person they lost to would have been better. For all we KNOW, McCain and/or Romney could have actually been worse. I already know your OPINION on that, so keep it to yourself.

Socialism is defined as, “a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.”

I want examples showing that the means of production, distribution and exchange are now controlled by the government.

You say things like, “You have had your head in the sand for 6 years. How are you still breathing?” and “Have you been living on the South Pole the last 6 years with no communication with the outside world?”. yet you are the one unable to prove your point with facts. It is just more talking points and rhetoric.

The PPACA is not Socialism and we have been spreading the wealth well before either of us were born. Over the past 30+ years the wealth has been distributed to the top. The right talks about the shrinking middle class and how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, but are unwilling to do anything to change the course.

Question, if you have to choose who should receive more tax breaks in an effort to stimulate the economy, would it be the erson who already has sufficient capital to not only buty whatever they need, but also can save, or the person who works paycheck-to-paycheck who will spend additional money if available?

As a young man just starting out in business, I also had to live through 4 years of the Carter disaster. As depressing as that was, the past 6 years of Obama is far, far worse. I have searched for any policy or program Obama has instigated that I can agree with and have come up empty every single time. His fundamentally changing America to his agenda has had disastrous consequences as we have seen and it is going to be a long time before we see any improvement, but first we have to change out the Senate in November and that is a start.

We do live in a very divided country which has gotten steadily worse by agendas of both parties, but heavily because of what has been going on for the past 6 years first by blaming Bush or all problems and then blaming Republicans for not going along with the agenda.

Can anyone tell me why the Immigration issue has not been solved? The House has passed a bill twice with the second one last week and the Reid led Senate went on vacation rather than take it up. Back in 2009, the Democrats had a big majority in the House and Senate and a Democratic President and didn’t mess with the issue at all. They could have rammed it through like they did Obamacare and got their amnesty bill and crickets were chirping. Now, during this recess, Obama is going to get that pen out again and declare amnesty for 5 million illegals. Is this any way to run a railroad or a country?

Libby, I am pretty sure there were bigger fish to fry than doing Healthcare in the middle of the financial crises. I remember your President saying the last thing he thought about when he went to bed was fixing the economy and when he woke in the morning. Then he went on with ramming Obamacare down the nations throat and to hell with the economy. He couldn’t even create jobs with the Stimulus that was not a stimulus since no shovel ready jobs were created. What happened to all that money that was supposed to be used for infrastructure repairs and construction? Now, he wants another stimulus to do infrastructure repair. He put Biden in charge of making sure the money was spent “wisely”. Hello! Hey Biden, where did the money go?

Libby, I am pretty sure that the folks hired him to fix the economy first after he continuously blamed Republicans for the mess and he pledged to get right on it. Remember James Carville’s clarion call – It’s the economy stupid! We didn’t ask for $7 Trillion in new debt to be created – yes it is at $7 Trillion plus new debt before the 6th year is completed according to the CBO. All Obamacare succeeded in doing was making the deficit even larger although he proclaimed it was deficit neutral, another of the dozens of lies told. Did it save the taxpayers $2,500 per family?

I’m not sure you’re qualified to say why folks voted for him since you didn’t. For me and most of the people that I know did it was because of healthcare reform. But he didn’t go far enough. That is what many of us are unhappy about. Read all the polls you are so fond of citing.

Hi FFA. When is your move to Wisconsin happening? I bet you are getting excited to exit the Land of Lincoln. Speaking of Lincoln, I saw “Killing Lincoln” on Netflix the other night. It is a docu-drama written by O’Reilly and is a thoroughly researched enactment of events leading up to Lincoln’s assassination. It is amazing that Lincoln had so little protection and how easy it was for Booth to do his deed. I think the man really had a death wish and Kennedy did in 1963 as well.

Full Basement. 3 Car attached garage for around $160,000. About 1800 sq feet… Seems I am being out bid for the place in the dells… Gonna look in the Mauston area. Maybe Westfield, Pardee Ville… By the end of the year, IL is in the rear view mirror.

What is up with these Illinois politicians and their tax issues? They don’t like to pay the taxes they pass on to the folks, right? I think the last Illinois politician that was great was Lincoln and he was a Republican.

FFA, one of my agent golf buddies sent me a good one this morning that we can enjoy before the hateful left start posting their trash.

This is a take off on the 23rd Psalm.
Obama is the shepherd I did not want. He leadeth me beside the still factories. He restoreth my faith in the Republican Party. He guideth me in the path of unemployment for his party’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line, I shall fear no hunger, for his bailouts are with me. He has anointed my income with taxes, my expenses runneth over. Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in a mortgaged home forever.

Following is the actual Psalm 109:8. Let his days be few and brief and let others step forward to replace him. AMEN!

Agent…since you are so totally Johnny One note, I sugget e all skip over your posts and move on to posts by people not so wrapped up in hatred.

txmouthbreather…you make me laugh but I’m afraid your posts just stoke Agent’s fire…and a lot of the humor just zips by his head

Ron…thanks for trying to put so sanity in these posts. Unfortunately, Agent and his followers are so consumed with hatred that reasoning with them is impossible. You are correct: he never answers questions, he just brings up other right wing nut talking points. He is beyond reason.

Libby and Planet…unfortunately, you…who make sense most of the time…are easily sucked in to Agent’s ridiculous posturing. Don’t you know you can’t reason with him? Stop trying.

I suggest we ignore all of the “hating” posts on both right and left and see if the rest of us can’t come to some consensus.

If this country can’t find its moderate voice, we will be doomed to constant grid lock and do nothing politicians.

Agent, Sargeant, and Bob…do you have any idea how absolutely racist you sound in this series of posts? Some of your comments are really very, very sad…I can only hope that you really don’t mean them but that you just go caught up in the adrenaline rush to bash liberals. I can take the bashing but I can’t stomach the racism.

HOPEFULLY we will all have a relaxing weekend and come back with a bit more “charity in our hearts” for our fellow citizens.

PS…to nosane…thank you for the history lesson. I too well remember the Dixiecrats and the fracturing of the Democratic South from Johnson to Reagan. Agent and Bob, although these folks were Democrats, the Republicans now own these guys…something I wouldn’t brag about. I lived thru this era and as a Freedom Rider and I can’t tell you how what I saw down south made me sick at heart…things I will never forget.

By the way, Y’all might want to check out the stats on the eroding of the middle class. I think txmouthbreather made the point that middle class whites, which I assume you are, Agent, are the ones most deeply hurt by the plutocratic policies and the ridiculous tax system we have in this country. I personally think that individuals that are not of the 1% AND small business owners not of the ilk of JPMorgan, GE, Halliburton, Chevron, Exxon, etc…are ALL hurt by many of the current tax and legal policies we have in this country. The rich get richer…and the rest of us get buried. And of course, the lower rungs f the economic ladder are the families that provide most of our military…pretty good deal for the large tax inversion companies, don’t you think?

Agent stop liberal bashing just to do it.

Explain how the democrats own them. You as many racist democrats attempt to do, label the south as anti black, and then say the reason they flipped republican was because republicans were against blacks.

in 1964, more republicans voted for the civil rights bills than democrats. The fracture was that the south, while racism was there, the politicians who were against it were republican. Pure and simple. The democrats supported it and got kicked out of the state.

I might add: Which of my comments are racist against democrats?

I bluntly state all the time not to make bigoted comments against fox news, I use CNN sources, (and side comment Ron is not the voice of reason here, he always mocks the ability of republicans to read and interpret facts, and says they always sell on rhetoric)

I use methodology and refuse to argue on anything else.

I find it amazing you go after me, and not the comments where Celitica, Boogereater, and Shirely, asked for the death of corporate ceo’s, said that you can tell which company is against rights if the owner is toothless and likes nascar, and in Celicita’s case says the biblical quotes I mentioned.

I am pleased however you feel the need to discredit me through ad hominem attacks rather than going after my facts. :)

      Thank you for that.

    PS

Agent, I am sorry the prior post seems to bash you…it really wasn’t my intent. But you really do slither out of answering questions posed by others and you really do seem to just spew forth the right wing Fox news bytes. I think you re better than that….

I think you also are smarter than all that (at least I hope so). It would be good to have a real debate between conservative and liberal and see if we could come up with common ground. There are a lot of intelligent folks on this site…if we, who are anonymous and have some common rerenence (the insurance industry) cannot debate in good spirit and with civility, what hope do we have as a country? How can we overcome the lobbyists and monied special interests that have a much better pipeline to our representatives ears if we cannot find common ground that helps the 99% rather than just the 1%?

“How can we overcome the lobbyists and monied special interests that have a much better pipeline to our representatives ears if we cannot find common ground that helps the 99% rather than just the 1%?”

By ignoring the above comment which spurs class warfare.

Must laws passed under this guise go after the wrong aspects.

The lobbyists are not generally bad. It’s the 1% of the 1% that are bad. We need to look at the laws. Not dismiss them because the corporations are involved. The problem is we have not involved real debate because you and others like you spur the 1% argument when they chime in. Like in Ohio, UPS actually made political ads talking about Fed ex blocking flight regulations. They hired some serious lobyists to fix problems. Having lobyists is good. Not bad. They represent the interest of businesses, when politicians have issues. Leaving the power to the politicians is how they do it in Russia. It doesn’t work. Ogliarchs arise. It gets crazy.

The battle against the 1% is the problem, not the cure. We can’t even look at one law without saying it helps the 1%.

Bush W’s retirement plans that cut off at $80 some thousand were said to benefit the wealthy too much. They would give a tax credit for investing, would be tax free, tax deductible, at withdrawal and when you invested. This would allow a person earning $20,000 a year to invest $1,200 and get another $1,200 a year from tax credits, the amount you save in taxes, the amount you’re able to invest, in that bracket would literally make you retire a millionaire, and would also save over a hundred thousand dollars in taxes. But, then in came people like you, the rich could benefit from it. People making $80k a year could make millions (a bad thing?). And class warfare came in, it came to getting the 1% instead of making a path for everyone to make money, it was about making sure there could be no 1%. In making sure there is no 1% disparity, they screwed the 99%.

This is what our government keeps doing.

I just showed two examples. I can show more. The argument of 99% needs to end.

It’s funny Cassandra, you start your post just like Ron. You say you don’t mean to bash me, and then you go right into bashing me. The credibility of the left is almost nil now. Find common ground? The common ground you seek is if Conservatives go along with the left agenda. If we don’t reach across the aisle and accept it, we are called racists or worse. Get this! Conservatives don’t hate people, we hate policies and the left agenda. I know that is a foreign concept for you to understand.
