Devoid in this discussion is anything to do with WHY corporations are moving overseas. It’s ‘cuz both the federal and state governments are taxing the snot out of them. Perhaps if POTUS and Congress took a look at incentives to keep (and attract back) corporations based here in the US, rather than driving them away with high taxes…

Devoid in this conversation is that these fatcats are traitors, and, as such, they should get the death penalty.

There are many companies, such as GE, that pay ZERO taxes, and they still work to undermine this country.

Most large companies, when all is said and done, pay a lower rate than you and me.

They follow the laws and they are traitors? Really? Hows that work out? Who cares who put the rules in place? Some of the fat cats been preaching this for years (Warren Buffett).

Following the laws does not make them a traitor. It makes them a law abiding citizen (company).

I agree with you DCMS. They are indeed undermining the very country in which they live. But I think cheap labor and cheap real estate has more to do with it than taxes. They can double their profit with the same amount of sales when they cut expenses in half. Tax the sh*t out of them and hit where it hurts the most. Their pocketbook.

Shirley, when all is said and done, the Small Businesses are the ones getting hosed and have to pay the 35% corporate rate because they don’t have the lobbyists and cronies in DC to influence policy.

Who is watching the hen house with the Feds? They are printing money 24/7, causing inflation for every good and service, the EPA continues to do their thing shutting down business and they have no accountability.

Agent – Small businesses are in the same boat as the middle class. We get the brunt of taxes while the very rich and very poor pay next to nothing. Pretty soon there will be only rich and poor. No middle class. No small business. Then maybe we’ll see revolution.

I almost agree with you Libby. The real question is why it is this way and who made it this way? I come from a lower middle class background. My dad never took one dime of assistance from the government until he retired and went on Social Security that he paid into his whole working life. My mother knew how to stretch a dollar until it screamed and all four kids worked growing up. The government wasn’t near as massive as it is now. Leftist politicians on both sides of the aisle are responsible for creating the monster we have now. The best example I can give you is the $619,000,000,000 they can’t account for now in their spending accounts. I think the Middle Class and Poor could use some of that, don’t you?

Unfortunately your family chose to live poor and not work their way up the ladder even if they did not take a “pickled eggs worth of a dime” from the government. You must understand you are now disqualified from being a Republican due to your family’s generational poverty so you will need to send back your lapel flag pin. You will be receiving a cancellation letter from both Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers explaining what you will need to do and how to dispose of your body properly. The money you donated to them will be used on 8 balls and Lady Thai boys during the 2016 RNC in your memory. You have disgraced your former party for posing and an “old money” manager. It’s just like you to ask me a question and to go ahead and answer it by blaming leftist politicians. If it were that simple, it would be an easy fix.

You certainly can’t be stupid enough to believe that liberal politicians are 100% responsible for this state of affairs. What about the super elite (most of which are Republican, by the way.) They continue to rob, steal, and cheat from the middle class with tax incentives and corporate welfare and by stealing from their own employees. Why is there never any blame alloted to those people? Not to mention Wall Street. All with lobbyists and paid politicians in their back pocket. And not all of them are liberal, either.

Until you can have a smidgen of balance in your responses, you will continue to have no credibility and be a laughing stock on here.

The taxes wouldn’t go up under this scenario if they stayed here. If they chose to move, and pass on the additional taxes to the consumers, they would then lose out to their competitors, who would be charging lower prices.

Besides lower taxes wouldn’t get passed on to the consumers. The top brass would just have more money to hoard, or to embezzle by giving themselves 200% raises that are not approved by the actual owners of the company. Who do you think pays for that? The consumers, the stockholders, and the employees who do the actual work.

You sure do like sucking up. Maybe someday you’ll be the favored lap dog.

The corporate tax structure should mirror the individual code when it comes to global income/revenue. I do think there should be a few — very few — caveats that take into account the type of industry, size of company, and number of employees, for example, in order to ensure incentives are in place for competitive reasons.

Not sure the death penalty should apply if you are adhering to current tax codes.

FFA, as long as we are talking about tax inversions, there was a very good cartoon on Townhall on this subject. Picture the Capitol turned upside down. The title was – Tax Inversion. Inside, two voices said – We’re supposed to be the model for free market Economics… The other voice said – So why do we have the highest Corporate Tax Rate in the world?

The left believes Americans don’t pay enough tax. By the way, the government seemed to misplace $619 Billion out of their spending accounts. There isn’t enough money in the world to satisfy the greed and corruption at the highest levels of government. What a cesspool!

Here’s an idea, lower corporate taxes to a rate commensurate with the rest of the planet and remove most if not all loopholes, credits and deductions. And while we’re at it, reign in the EPA who wants to tax energy to the point where it will no longer be economically feasible to manufacture anything here. There is no difference to the atmosphere whether the coal is burned here, China or India (actually it would proabaly be burned more cleanly here) other than having more jobs in China and India which will happen once we jack up energy prices here.

Europe has been dependent on Russian gas for many years and we could just devastated Russia’s economy and yes we are the largest producer of LPG in the world and we could ramp up production even further with our vast supplies. Old Vladimir wouldn’t like that so much, but Obama will not do it since he promised to be more flexible in his second term. All talk and no action.

One reason Ron is if you get enough thumbs down your comment is hidden. And if you make a truly stupid remark and get a lot of “natural” thumbs down so your remark “should be” hidden, you can erase that by cheating as Shirley does. It kind of points out why the left is not hung up on voter fraud as they know who it helps as they practice it all the time. Chicago is an excellent example of that. It’s how Daley gave Kennedy the 1960 election.

The problem I have is that there are several posts that did not have stupid remrks that have been thumbed down solely based on who posted the comment. That goes for both sides. It is very childish.

Besides, even if the comment is hidden, it does not go away.

To point out a single person for cheating is disingenuous.

My issue with the push for voter ID laws is simple, no one has provided evidence that these laws will prevent the real voter fraud that occurs or that even one election that was won fraudulently would have been decided correctly if voter ID laws were in place. Please explain exactly how voter ID laws would have prevented Daley from giving the presidential election to Kennedy.

To me it is a waste of time and taxpayer dollars to pass these laws and go through all of the court challenges that tend to follow when we have much bigger problems that may actually have a solution if the stubborn Democrats and Republicans could get together instead of passing blame back and forth.

I agree with @Dave. The US Corp tax rate is the highest in the industrial world. Any US company with international competitors would be foolish not to do this is if allows them to be competitive with their peers. The answer is to lower the rate to a median level, remove the loopholes and then be relentless in collecting those taxes. Right now many companies pay no taxes at the state or federal level so getting something would help us as a nation.

What is your problem? Can you ever make a relevant response? Nobody was talking about the amount of taxes being collected by the government or debt and deficits. Can you just stay on point?

All I was saying is that it is irrelevant to talk about any tax rate when there are so many deductions and credits that effectively lower the rate for nearly every company.

When cutting your tax check to the government, does it really matter what the rate is or is it the amount for which you are writing the check that matters?

Tax rates are actually completely relevant.

Higher rates with large deductions benefit those who can have those deductions (companies that are either large enough or follow the government’s pathways to success that allow lower rates and better deductions)

Lower rates with less deductions has the bigger corporations paying more, the smaller paying less without having to try and either do what the government wants or grow to be big enough to use the same loopholes as everyone else, and it also stops the preferential tax credits for doing certain activities. Do I need to remind you of Solyndra? Higher rates with loopholes create scenarios of “government selected” winners.

          Not to mention:

Why aren’t you asking texas booger eater, whatever his name is, what his “problem is”? As well as Shirley? One said that corporation owners are traitors who deserve to die, and the other just said you can identify which companies will deny rights if they like nascar, have no teeth, etc.

It is one thing to say someone has bad economic principles that are destroying our nation.

It’s another to call him a nascar outfit wearing toothless racist.

You only ever tell conservatives to knock it off. It ruins the illusion of your “moderate” ideals. You might want to get on that.

You will say you every now and again say “EVERYONE” knock it off, but I have literally never seen you get directly on any one liberal’s case.

Jack, Mexico would just laugh at us like other nations do. We can’t even get a Marine out of their prison for making a wrong turn. What makes you think they will pay us anything?

Why did the Marine make the wrong turn. Like the Boy Scouts (your favorite organization) shouldn’t they be prepared?

First the Administration accepts that they don’t have the authority to act on it’s own, now it says it may do so anyway. I’m just waiting for the Adminstration to say it is just disbanding Congress since they don’t see a need.

Here is a thought they might want to consider, work with Congress to revamp the tax code and have a more favorable corporate tax climate so corporations don’t have a need for inversions!

Very wise statement Pete. We have needed tax reform for decades, but no one in Congress or any administration will tackle it, make it fair for everyone because they really like to keep the tax and spend philosophy going. They fell in love with John Maynard Keynes theories and think you can spend your way to prosperity. The result is $17.67 Trillion in debt with $7 Trillion of it in the past 6 years.

Pete, some European countries have dissolved their Parliaments when they failed and had new elections. If this country had a vote to dissolve Congress and dump the current administration with whole new elections and leaders, I dare say very few politicians would survive the onslaught. A poll last week had Romney beating Obama by 9 full points if the election were held today. That is pretty amazing since the media has been in his corner for 6 long years.

Hey Harvard, the Federal Government steals trillions from the taxpayers and then loses $619 Billion of it. How is that working out for the country?

Opie, I thought giving $619 Billion (with a B) to Texico was not stealing.

Harvard- The poor don’t have money that’s why they are called poor. You see a thief can not steal a 42 inch tv from your home if you don’t have one. For the record…the thief in the above example was not black as to not offend anyone. He was not injured when the poor man came out into the living room and yelled stop because this is a “thief free area”. And he was not injured when he got back into his cadi with very large rims and sped away with rap music blaring. If you pictured this as being a black man due to the above example…you may be a racist and probably live in a gated community.

Let’s cut our foreign support to Texico. They can keep their call center jobs and just like India, when you call said call center, the employees will have American names. For instance, Jawn-Boy will be John, Jim-Bob could be James Robert. Unfortunately Earl-Ray will just always be slow. But he could be governor or president of Texico one day.
