With the number of people that struggle to quit smoking, it seems ludicrous to suggest the use of marijuana as a medical solution to anything.

The pro Marijuana people say there is nothing wrong with it and people can function using it. Marijuana is bad, has always been bad and people cannot use it and think it is not harmful.

Alcohol is bad, bacon is bad, tobacco is bad, red meat is bad, colas are bad, white bread is bad, etc. etc. Lots of things are harmful to our health, but we don’t make them illegal and lock people up for using them.

The war on drugs is a war on our own citizens. Adults should have the right to decide what they put in their bodies. We understand the risks and have the right to decide whether or not to assume the risks. The only time the government needs to get involved is if we put others at risk — such as driving while intoxicated.

If you don’t want to use marijuana, then don’t. I don’t want to use it either, however, I don’t care if my neighbor does. And I sure don’t want my neighbor locked up and his or her life (and their family’s life) ruined with a prison record.

The war on drugs is a bust … just like prohibition was a bust. Let’s move on and make room in our prisons for true criminals.

So Daisy, anything is ok with you as long as it feels good to do it. What if you were run over by a dude sky high on Marijuana and he maimed you or paralyzed you due to the accident? Would you be in favor of his right to get high and endanger the public? There have been severe penalties for people drinking and driving, loss of license, sometimes jail time. Why not Marijuana which also impairs judgement, slows reaction time and often drivers fall asleep at the wheel. Don’t bother to compare this to food. That is a very bad example and the last time I checked, they aren’t hallucination’s.

Agent: You are completely dismissing the medical benefits. Have you seen the children with severe seizures who are able to function normally using a medicinal form? Have you heard of all the cancer patients who have no appetites who benefit from medical form? You’re ignorance is impressive. It is not an hallucinogenic and actually works as a stimulant not “drivers fall asleep at the wheel”. Did you just make that factoid up?

Agent, it appears you missed when Daisy said:
The only time the government needs to get involved is if we put others at risk — such as driving while intoxicated.

I don’t think Daisy’s point was to compare how dangerous or not marijuana is relative to food. Rather, the comment was about when government should step in. Should the drug war be higher priority than fighting Ebola, ISIS, poverty, or homelessness?

Don’t be obtuse. I specifically stated that driving while intoxicated would not be acceptable. I’d be just as paralyzed is a guy was drunk and ran me over. Yet we’re not calling for a reinstatement of prohibition. Or are you?

First of all, Daisy clearly stated that the government should get involved as it relates to driving under the influence. (read much?)

What if you were run over by a dude who is drunk? Would you be in favor of outlawing alcohol?

What if you were run over by a dude who was talking on a cell phone? Would you be in favor of outlawing cell phones?

What if you were run over by someone who fell asleep because they had taken allergy medication? Would you be in favor of imprisoning anyone caught having allergy medication?

What if you were run over by someone who wasn’t paying attention, because he was reading the sports page? Would you be in favor of outlawing sports?

What if you were run over by someone who had accidentally floored the accelerator, because he was upset upon hearing about his favorite football team’s wide receiver dropping the ball? Would you be in favor of outlawing football?

Maybe you would be happy if we just outlawed driving, altogether?

What if someone accidentally (or purposely) shot you or someone you love? Would you be in favor of outlawing guns?

MJ doesn’t kill people; people kill people.

Next question. Since when is driving under the influence legal? That’s what you’re saying, isn’t it?

Just because smoking it is legal, doesn’t mean you won’t get arrested for DUI. Think about it. Alcohol is legal and you definitely go to jail if you drive while drunk. Why do you think pot is any different?

If I had to choose one, I would rather be on the road with a bunch of drivers on cannabis rather than a bunch of drunk drivers or drivers texting on their cell phones. That isn’t to say driving under the influence of any substance should be encouraged or tolerated (to the contrary); I am merely trying to demonstrate the relative level of hazard.

As far as cannabis being a dangerous substance, that argument is and has always been laughable. Initial prohibition was passed on the back of xenophobia (as it was often used by poor Mexican immigrants) and outrageous claims of muderous rampages, senseless violence and rape induced by use of cannabis. The film “Reefer Madness” is an example of this hysteria.

The only real danger comes from the lack of legality and regulation– the worst thing that can happen from using cannabis is what the government will do to you if they catch you. It is also possible it can be secretly laced with another substance since it is currently a black market product.

Eliminate the risk of prosecution and regulate the product, and you reduce the risk of use to essentially zero. This is increasingly the case in places like Colorado where many of the commerically available products focus on methods of ingestion other than smoking.

We have generations of evidence showing without a shred of doubt that prohibition is a failed policy involving untold billions of wasted taxpayer dollars, hundreds of thousands of incarcerated persons, and vast riches for violent cartels and street gangs. Cannabis is the #1 cash crop in many areas despite its Schedule 1 status. We only stand to gain by bringing this mult-billion dollar industry into the light where we can tax its sale and render irrelevant much of the black market that supports it.

If the medicinal form is other than buds to be smoked, I could be more accepting of Medical Marijuana usage, but those potheads and stoners smoking it are just that..potheads and stoners getting around the law. Smoking it is just as bad as smoking cigarettes..that has been repeatedly proven. So as long as “medical marijuana” laws allow smoking, it is a farce and I’m against it.

However, if the other non-smokable forms are distributed by real pharmacies and controlled, and there are definitive controlled studies proving its efficacy, why not?

As for the legalization issue, if we all agree it should be controlled like alcohol, with the same punishments for misuse, I can agree it makes little sense to continue its ban/listing as a Sched 1 drug.

Finally, however, if liberals are for it…I’m dead-set against it. Making a deal with liberals, who have no shred of decency or compromise within them (look at their continuing ongoing vehemence directed at a God-give, Constitutionally-protected right as defined in the Second Amendment) is like selling your soul to the Devil, a little bit at a time.

I like to think of those WWJD bracelets. What would Jesus think about guns? I think I know the answer, and it probably wouldn’t jive with the 2nd Amendment crowd… So calling it guns a “God-given” right kind of makes you sound like a jihadi.

Jesus would not have an issue with guns. They can help put food on the table to support families. The issue he would have is with the individuals who use them for murder, robbery, etc.

There are too many people opening their mouths/keyboards without doing any research. Cannabis oil is being found very effective at treating cancer. Also, if a patient is suffering from nausea,
smoking may be the most efficacious method of administering the drug. Tony, a smoker may be a veteran who fought for our country, and has resultant conditions that are best relieved by ingestion by smoking. I dare you to call him a pothead to his face. I’m sure Big Pharma that profits from chemo is leading the war on this natural medicinal. People, please put FACTS in brain before opening mouth. Think if it was your child suffering from cancer.
It’s only a plant. Plants are the original medicine, given to us by God. I would rather take His medicine than something concocted by someone in a lab with profit as the motive.

The plants we have now are not those originally provided by God. After sin, part of the curse is that we have to work for plants to provide. Part of that is working the plant to extract the good and discarding the bad.

God did not expect us to live without pleasure or joy. Quite the opposite. He loves us and wants us to be happy. That’s why he created beer. At least according to Benjamin Franklin, the devout Quaker that he was. You don’t have to live your life in misery to live a good Christian life. Lighten up Facts.

Yes, I do have a direct line, by way of prayer. He says he wants you to vote republican the next election.

Whether smoking pot is a sin is debatable. Some studies say it is not harmful. Others say it is. Most I know who have used have been negatively impacted. As a Christian, we are to treat our bodies as a temple, so anything that harms your body is indeed a sin. I would rather be cautious and treat it as a sin until proven otherwise.

There are many ways to experience pleasure and joy, and be happy. I guess I’m just lucky that I don’t need a artificial experience to have that in my life.

So, “Get your facts straight”,you don’t eat or drink anything that contains sugar? Sugar is very harmful (and not just for those who are obese). Do you support comapnies that pollute? If we are to “treat our bodies as a temple”, then we shouldn’t allow for anything that causes pollution, including automobiles. Did the God-voice in your head say anything about that, or does the voice in your head only tell you what you want to hear?

            Hi Shirley,

I do ingest sugar as its only harmful in excessive doses. Sugars are actually needed for our bodies to function correctly.

Yes, I do support companies that pollute. I’m not sure it’s possible to avoid that. However, the tradeoff are products that enhance and support our bodies and lives. For instance, I need an automobile to get to my job. My job provides me with money to purchase healthy foods for my family and I. The healthy foods offset any damage caused by the pollution from the automobile. Though ideally I would agree that no pollution would be best.

Sorry, no voice in my head. I know that would be easier for you to dismiss me as someone with a mental issue. If you want to know what I am led to believe, just grab yourself a Bible and start reading. I wish there were only things I wanted to hear, but our sin nature wants to rebel against the path God has set out for us.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, but not because I own a TV. If watching TV was damaging then I would be a hypocrite for that.

A lot of the plants are provided by Monsanto. So, is any hybrid or grafted plant not of Him? How about dogs? I don’t think there were dogs as we know them back at creation. I can’t see god creating a teacup chihuahua, for instance.

Grafted plants are not a change of genetics. Hybrids are a specialization of the genes already present. One idea is that before the curse, the ideal combination of genes that we continually strive for were the norm.

The genetic makeup across dogs breeds is the same. That’s why all dogs species can interbreed. The differences you see are due to specialization of the dominant/recessive traits. Though whether or not a dog that resembled a teacup Chihuahua breed was present at creation is something that was never specified.
