Gig Economy Now 6.5% of U.S. Workforce; Provides Extra Income for 10 Million

    They may as well do this since employers aren’t hiring them. Hey, they can use mom’s basement to launch from.

    This wonderful sharing economy will ultimately come back to bite our collective backside. For some it is extra income. We have had so many people call us when they realize they are not covered by Workers’ Comp and we gave to explain to them as an individual, they can purchase a Workers Comp policy but will not be covered. Then they inquire about a disability but find that the income derived does not afford a decent disability policy. Further far too many have no choice but to take these “gigs”, and use it as their only income source.
