Agent, where are you? Where is our voice of (un)reason?

Please, I need my dose of right wing talking points as my car radio is broken and the only hot air I hear is from an exhaust leak.

Whether one “believes” in climate change or not is irrelevant. What is relevantt is hard facts.

There are some crucial, verifiable facts – with citations – about human-generated carbon dioxide and its effect on global warming people need to know and understand at

    hseneker.blogspot.com

The discussion is too long to post here but is a quick and easy read. I recommend following the links in the citations; some of them are very educational.

When we discuss “belief in climate change”, it is helpful to specify what is being believed. In my experience, belief in climate change moves through four levels:
    1. The climate is changing, in a way that cannot be attributed to random variability
    2. Human activity is a major cause of that change
    3. If not addressed, the effects will be very harmful
    4. We can and should take action to address climate change.

Some skeptics accept the first one, and maybe the second to some extent, but are not convinced of at least some aspects of the third and fourth. Fortunately, the Pope, almost all scientists, many economists and a lot of major corporations are convinced all four are true, which is creating energy for action.

Shame on you! You’re supposed to believe what liberals say about Climate Change and not make distinctions to be discussed like intelligent, mature adults. Then, fork over your money to the liberal government and abandon your evil sources of energy, like oil, coal, shale oil, fracking. Then pay higher taxes to the government to fund liberal agenda green projects like Solyndra. Next; pay carbon credit penalties directly to Al Gore, so he can buy more ocean front properties that should have been underwater by now, and to fuel his private jet. Finally, shame on you if you didn’t catch my sarcasm!

Gore doesn’t actually own a “private jet.” People who say he owns one show that they have been getting their “news” from unreliable sources. His “ocean front property” in Montecito is 500 feet above sea level and two miles from the ocean. Breitbart and Glenn Beck are lying about that. People who say “Gore’s ocean front property” show that they are easily misled.

If Gore SOLD his jet, so be it… his currently rented or leased or hired PRIVATE jets still create YUUUUGE carbon emissions. So, stop with the Straw Man Arguments. Gore is a YUUUGE hypocrite; i.e. “The ‘little people’ should do as I say, not as I do.”. Perhaps I shouldn’t have said that? He may cut off my internet ‘privileges’.

Can someone please explain how this beef tax makes sense? My understanding is the cattle produce the greenhouse gases while alive. How does making their meat less desirable prevent them from causing more gas? My initial thought is telling me, that if less people buy the meat, less cattle will be slaughtered for it, making more cattle available to produce harmful greenhouse gasses….

Also… Yes, I realize that this is just dumb….

I believe the value in the tax is in it’s goal of making it less affordable to eat beef, thus reducing beef consumption. Reduce the demand and the supply will naturally be reduced…which would reduce the amount of methane produced from cows.

It is hard to take the article writer seriously when he starts with such an inflammatory statement. Of course the climate changes. How much is directly attributable to mankind is the question. The next question is whether there is a reasonable way to address it that does not throw back society into the 17th century. Radical Islamists would love this but that is another topic altogether. I still find it amazing that traffic forecasts may than a few days in advance are rife with variability yet we are so sure about what will happen fifty years from now. Puzzling.

It’s not that we don’t tolerate objection, it’s that you keep presenting “facts” that are wrong or intentionally misleading.

Like when you claim polar ice is increasing yet ignore that we have two poles on this planet we need to look at to make that claim (and when we do, polar ice clearly is decreasing).

Or when you say “NY had record snow last year – how’s that climate change working out?” as proof temp’s aren’t rising, yet ignore that temps across the entire planet are going up.

I have yet to be provided with “facts” from you that are accurate, complete or correct. Some others have pointed out areas where there are holes in the climate change debate and I have acknowledged them and acquiesced to (I believe) IM when he brought them up.

Are you saying that, if global warming is a scam, then we should feel free to pollute as much as possible? Do you think that pollution is healthy? Another related issue is the “correct” ‘starting point’ to measure the level of change, up or down, in the Earth’s temperature.

Finally, also related to the second item is the “correct” way to measure the Earth’s temperature. And I don’t mean sticking a YUUUGE thermometer into something that is akin to an unattractive orifice on a human. :)

You poke fun at real people struggling in this world, even when there is no way to justify it. All because they are in some way different than you. All because they have a different opinion… I can’t begin to explain how much I hate you.

You start your condescending arguments with so called “facts” or any bit of information you could possible use to rationalize your condescending opinions, and when challenged you revert back to simple attacks like a 8 year old…. I will say it again.. you are exactly what is wrong with the world, and this country… It is people like you that threaten all of us by putting people like Trump in the white house. (and can actually believe it’s a good idea!!) You consider yourself so “smart”, but all you do is disregard anything you don’t agree with…

You’re a hateful, spiteful, bigot, and you have no right implying your views on anyone else in this world.

Bathroom for those with multiple genitalia is a critical issue to discuss these days?

To answer your irrelevant question: let the dozen or so of them in each state use the woods….i.e. far away from small girls who might otherwise encounter creepy men using stupid PC laws to pursue their perverted agenda in women’s restrooms.

I know you aren’t serious with the “let them use the woods” comment. You can’t possibly think these people are animals and not human. Secondly, you do realize sex changes go both ways, right? Women turn themselves into men and would be entering the little boys room. Finally, there are already laws on the books for sexual advances against minors, whether in a bathroom or not, so no need to be so dang afraid of who is peeing next to you.

…. they should have thought of these problems before their operations. Of course, counselors are involved, and they should have had these discussions with them before undergoing the change. I assume they did and ignored the advice and created a controversy by doing what they please, with the help of liberal state legislators for something that affects a SMALL FRACTION of a percent of the population whne there are much more important problems facing states with budget problems, crime problems, and people with bad water and no food, no jobs, and no hope for help/ improvement from their government.

This is just another example of the unwillingness / failure of liberals in control of cities and states to follow the principles of Democracy after they gain power (i.e. the MAJORITY rules)! (And the mainstream media is also to blame for supporting their Socialist / liberal agenda.)

Majority doesn’t rule in every instance. We learned that during the witch hunts/trials. We learned that in the south with the slave owning mentality. We have learned that in the persecution of many religious sects. No, majority cannot rule in every instance. Sometimes, you have to simply do what is right and just. Put away your pitchfork, Yogi. You and the angry mob will not be allowed to decide who is treated like a human and who is treated like a dog. If you call yourself a Christian, you certainly aren’t demonstrating it.

*What percentage of “scientists” are directly dependent on or benefit from government funding research on global warming/cooling/change?
*What economic opportunities do those wonderful (formerly evil) global corporations stand to gain from special government protections or subsidies or burdens placed on sector competitors. Ex: Berkshire Hathaway who is deeply invested in truck & rail transportation of petroleum strongly opposed the construction of the North American Pipeline.
Hmmm; Me thinks thou doest protest too much.

Maybe the retards, fraudsters and ingrates creating a conspiracy theory where over 95% off all climate scientists are engaged in a massive conspiracy theory should provide some proof. But first, actually provide science that stands up to refute the claims.

The scientists get paid to do the work, not bad on the outcome – unlike Exxon’s scientists who found the same thing, but good it, because of profit.

Our culture is undeniably uneducated about transgender individuals. At worst, this ignorance results in violent hate crimes and murders. In its most benevolent form, transgenderism is viewed as a “phase” or transgender individuals are regarded as “confused.” A new study, however, pushes back on these misconceptions by finding that transgender children identify with their gender identity as consistently as their cisgender peers.

“Our study addressed concerns we often hear the lay public and even scientific audiences express: concerns that transgender children are pretending or being difficult or that they don’t ‘really’ believe they are a boy (or girl),” lead researcher and University of Washington psychology professor Kristina Olson told Mic. “We wanted to know what happened if we used measures other than traditional self-report measures — would these stereotypes be upheld?”

The study, which will run in Psychological Science, recruited pre-pubescent transgender-identifying children who were age-matched with their cisgender siblings, as well as another group of cisgender children. The trans and cisgender children’s gender identities were determined through measures of gender development such as the Implicit Association Test, which is a device developed to scientifically explore “the unconscious roots of thinking and feeling,” according to its website. Olson and her team decided to use such measures because “implicit gender identity and a strong implicit preference for their own gender” is evident in other children at this age and, hopefully, the same measures could be used to assess identity and preferences in transgender kids as well.

The study’s findings support what trans advocates have been saying for years: Being transgender is not a phase or a choice, but a consistent gender identity. The study indicated that transgender children’s responses were indistinguishable from the two groups of cisgender children, suggesting that trans and cisgender children identify with their gender in the same consistent ways.

It’s worth noting that this study’s sample was composed of just 32 children, all of whom were fully supported by their families and living as their identified gender in all capacities of their lives, which is not always the case for transgender children. One study showed, for example, that 57% of transgender individuals have experienced significant rejection from their family. Olson acknowledges this limitation, stating that this paper is “very, very preliminary” and hopes that other researchers will expand on her work to “better understand whether the findings we observed apply to other groups of transgender children and to see how the results we found might relate to later life identity.”

Nevertheless, Olson’s results are an encouraging step toward greater awareness and acceptance of transgender individuals. Considering that studies have found that acceptance can protect against many threats to well-being for LGBTQ individuals, the more research done that bolsters this attitude the better.

Thanks to Olson and the future researchers she has hopefully inspired, perhaps we can consider ourselves one step closer to trans equality.

As far as storms go, there are several papers which statistically analyze the shift of the storm intensities and found that the shift to the right (a higher stigma) for both Summer and Winter. The affects of Global Warming have been measured and analyzed and keep coming up with the same answer. Clouds may indicate that rain is going fall, but until your head gets wet the it isn’t 100%. Yogi, perhaps you saw the story on Townhall today about the trouble in the Socialist/Communist paradise of Venezuela. It seems that the people of Venezuela are starving to the point of eating dogs, cats, birds since the government cannot provide enough food for them to live on. I am sure the elite in charge are not having any food issues, but the people are. Perhaps another little revolution is in order down there, right? People in the old Soviet Union used to have to stand in line for toilet paper and bread, but the poor Venezuelan people may not even have that.
