If the hypocrites in the Federal Government who are pushing hard against these mergers were TRULY concerned with increasing competition in this and any other industry, it would take at least three key steps:

    1. eliminate barriers to entry by new companies by lowering corporate tax rates and

    2. reduce the reach and breadth of federal regulations which are very costly and time consuming to businesses.

    3. expand oil drilling and eliminate restrictive laws that hamper businesses associated with other sources of domestic energy (e.g. coal). Energy is needed for ALL business activity, and is embedded in the costs of goods and services provided.

The above would enable increased competition among an expanded number of companies, to reduce overall costs of products and services to consumers.

Clarification on my ‘hypocrites’ adjective / noun:

Many socialist politicians are and will push for a Single Payer healthcare system. Yet, they are currently hiding their intention and objecting to the consolidation of the healthcare insurance industry.

Yogi, I am afraid this article is even more nauseous than the typical Healthcare article we see on a monthly basis. By the way, when have we seen a Progressive Socialist ever in favor of increasing competition? The whole objective is to go to single payer and no competition at all.

I’m okay with consolidating multiple companies licensed in individual states within a group of health insurers owned by the same holding company so as to allow the remaining consolidated company to write health insurance in ALL 50 states. That enables efficiency within groups of HI companies while at the same time maintaining competition in the industry.

My health insurance would have to change from each oceanic region into which the iceberg on which I travel drifts over time. What a hassle that would be for me to phone new insurers to bind coverage I lose simply my residing on a ‘mobile home’ in the ocean! And cell phone service is very spotty in certain Atlantic Ocean current streams lately!

We knew what you meant Yogi even though the not a clue crowd won’t. The only thing they really want is single payer no competition government run Healthcare. It is just a massive VA system and we know how that turned out for veterans. Did you catch Marcus Luttrell’s speech last night at the convention? A true American hero who loves his country more than his life. Hopefully, Trump will fix the VA and kick out all those nasty bureaucrats. Veterans should be given a card where they can be treated in any private hospital of their choosing and let’s close down all the poorly performing VA hospitals and privatize them.

It would be a house boat, not a mobile home. EPA wont allow a mobile home on an ice berg. If you had the house boat, you wouldnt have to worry about the global warming. A Mobile Home would sink vs just drive up to the next ice berg and dry dock.

Yogi & FFA, I am starting a list of people I would like to see get cabinet level positions in the Trump Administration. I haven’t completed it yet, but here are some that would do a good job if they are picked.
        1. Dept of Defense – Col Allen West
        2. Dept of Homeland Security – Rudy Guliani
        3. Dept of State – Condoleeza Rice(if they can get her back)
        4. Dept of Labor – Tim Scott
        5. Dept of Treasury – Rand Paul
        6. Dept of Veteran Affairs – Marcus Luttrell
        7. Dept of Energy – Rick Perry
        8. Dept of Commerce – Herman Cain
        9. Dept of Agriculture – Mary Fallin
        10. Dept of Education – Bobby Jindal
I am just getting started. Give me your picks. No Democrats please. We have had enough of them for the past nearly eight years.

          1. Dept of Defense – Col Allen West – Token Black Guy

          2. Dept of Homeland Security – Rudy Guliani – Too many infidelities, transvestite, 9/11 on his watch, lisp, seems to be “light on his toes” could replace with Lindsay Lohan Graham

          3. Dept of State – Condoleeza Rice(if they can get her back) let 9/11 happen on her watch, lives in sin because she is a single woman (what is the root cause?)

          4. Dept of Labor – Tim Scott – Dig up Ronnie Reagan’s corpse, leave him topless and riding on a horse MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

          5. Dept of Treasury – Rand Paul – Only somewhat sane person on your list. Donald’s toupee makes his look minor league, could create some issues here.

          6. Dept of Veteran Affairs – Marcus Luttrell

          7. Dept of Energy – Rick Perry – This born again drunk? In charge of coal, oil, nuclear, dinosaur semen?

          8. Dept of Commerce – Herman Cain – less sexual assaults than the Donald and Roger Ailes, probably a good fit here.

          9. Dept of Agriculture – Mary Fallin – Jimmy Fallon a better fit

          10. Dept of Education – Bobby Jindal – sure send more of our jobs to India
