Sad news. I had the honor of working with Jay on and off over the years and always enjoyed spending time with him…he worked hard…very hard…but he enjoyed the fun side too…he will be missed!
Wow, they just interviewed him at the Travelers Championship Golf tournament not very long ago. What a shame! He was a nice guy and a good CEO for that company. Pretty sure I know where the charity proceeds will go from now on with the Travelers Championship.
I will give you one chance, but if you start in on all those multi paragraph word parses, I will cut you off. Fishman died of ALS or Lou Gehrigs disease. The charity is for research on that deadly disease and this tournament will be dedicated to it.
Hi FFA. This is a sad story and it points out that if someone of high position gets the wrong disease like this, it is over. Jerry Lewis had a telethon for about 50 years on Muscular Dystrophy later changed to all neuro muscular diseases. Every year, they said the cure was right around the corner. They still haven’t turned that corner with ALS. We have made strides in fighting a lot of cancers, but this one is by far the most difficult.
Its been a brutal year with my agency. This does put things in perspective. I remember the Jerry Lewis telethons. When in high school, we did 24 hour dance a thon. We would get people to sponsor us for say $1.00 an hour. Then all money collected went right to the telethon.
My brother was Operations Manager for a large franchise of 7-11 stores and had the change cups at every store. They raised a ton of money for Jerry Lewis and had my brother fly out to Las Vegas to hand him the check on stage. It was a big thrill for him.
By the way, I am sure you have been following the further implosion of Obamacare. It is now predicted to completely fail by early next year. Quite a problem for Trump to tackle, don’t you think?

DW, I wonder who would down vote my comment 22 times. Wait, I think I know.

Thank you for elaborating
The industry lost a “legend”. At 63, he was too young to leave us. He will be missed.
An inspirational leader and a brilliant man. Jay’s passing is a loss for the insurance industry.
May he rest in peace.
