    Wow! It was painful just to read about all the pain that he had to go through, and it all could have been avoided if his first team would have made the effort to get his knee injury taken care of properly.

      I, too empathize with the pain and feel the benefits he has been awarded are reasonable, but I don’t think I’d put too much blame on his doctors from the 1960’s. My father had a knee operation in 1967 where they made a large incision and tried to make a repair. It was never really right after that and he eventually had a knee replacement. Turns out that the cartilage injury he had could today be fixed with a fairly simple arthroscopic procedure with minimal rehab and recovery time. Orthopedic surgery back then was archaic compared to what we know today.
