To state that Medicare is not in trouble but rising healthcare costs are is like saying people can still afford to buy a new car but the costs of new cars are becoming unaffordable. Who wrote this report?
Dave, Social Security was always supposed to be separate from the rest of the government. When LBJ took it out and put it in the General Fund to pay for his War on Poverty, that put everything at risk. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. In recent years, people have been filing on Social Security Disability and getting it even though they are not disabled. Most of them are just lazy. 95 million adults not working in this country and many are on disability. What a shame!
Have you asked anyone over the age of 60 searching for a job how much success they are having? Some people just cannot find work. As hard as they try, it’s impossible for some. Please has some empathy.
Wondering, one thing has been evident, there wasn’t much opportunity in the past 8 years, was there? After riding the unemployment bandwagon until it ran out, people just applied for Disability. Now that we have job creation going on, there should be more opportunity for jobs.
What a bunch of hooey! The past 8 years were SOOO bad that if you couldn’t find a job you just filed for disability and Poof! you got it? What world do you live in? Talk to anyone over age 50 to see what the job market is like. No one talks about the difficulty in even being considered for a job once you pass that age, but believe me, it is extremely to even get an interview when the person hiring sees you are over that age. It has nothing to do with who is in the White House.

Burger flipping jobs are not real jobs. Many households have to have 2-3 jobs in the expiring Obama economy. New jobs created will be career type jobs, much better paying.
Ridiculous, clueless Agent. The total number of people with 2 jobs under Obama increased by about 10 million under Obama. Many of these are people working part-time second jobs, like as a driver for Uber to make a little extra spending cash.
The total percentage of people with a job that have a 2nd job decreased under Obama. It was 5.3% his first full month, and was 5.0% his last month. I know for your type math isn’t your strong suit, but that means fewer workers have 2 jobs, even though more people have jobs, and unemployment is lower. Now find somebody to explain what this means for you, but I will give you a preview, and let you know you are wrong. So stop making this asinine, ignorant claim.
Also, burger flipping is no less a job than being an incompetent, racist, lying, degenerate insurance agent, if you happen to know any of those. A job is a job, there is no such thing as a “real job.” There are jobs that are not good careers, but your interpretation of “real” is ridiculous.
Not that anybody making the claims would know what to do with it, or how to look at it.

If you were employed at 50 during the Obama years and now your 60 your income not only dropped, but your prime earning years and the improvement for your future SS has been killed just because your hours were decreased and unemployment becomes a reality, now you have to your pay bills depleting your savings. Life becomes difficult and finding a yet another job at 60 a new career just isn’t a choice. I have children under 30 and their positions are no picnic either. Businesses are not in the market for the aging. Our learning curve takes a bit more time and many aren’t as quick as others and so on…..The attitude of those of us struggling in this economy has placed the middle class income into the lower income group causing depression and many woes as to our future. Interesting that you claim that, but they changed the rules so the CBO is not allowed to say how much repealing Obamacare increases the debt and deficit. They are frauds, and know the rubes will push whatever they say.
How do you defend that Yogi? At Trump U when you got your statistics degree they surely must have told you about omitting a huge part of the data set.
Since there are no active ACA Repeal & Replace articles to comment on, and this article has a high volume of activity, I will post this quip, mentioned to me by a colleague…
The ACA R&R plan is going fairly well, except there is still disagreement over how to cover Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s expected to reach epidemic levels, and Republicans are concerned that will bankrupt the new HI system.
I heard Scott Walker comment that one of the problems is that some states voted to expand Medicaid and some did not. The ones who voted for it will have much more severe financial problems when they get the bill.
Pharma savings makes sense, so this could be a lucky guess by the author. The licensing of insurance companies across state lines has been mentioned many times, so nothing new about that. The ACA R&R (replacement) is still FAR from done… many parties need to get in line… and that’s not going to happen quickly.
Of course, any talk of replacing ACA will yield humorous comments by Dems who produced the disaster called ACA:
excerpt:
Though just a preliminary document, the package drew quick criticism from Democrats.
“This isn’t a replacement, it’s a recipe for disaster,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. He said it would “put insurance companies back in charge” while boosting health care costs for millions and kicking millions of others off their plans.
Here’s the most important aspect that Schmucky Schumer fears….
“…it will put insurance companies back in charge…”
Dem Socialist / Communist-wannabes fear loss of government control of ANY benefit program. Sorry, Schmucky, but Medicare is next, and then Social Security will follow after that, to be replaced by expansion of current, individually controlled retirement plans such as IRAs, etc.
The ‘millions that will be kicked off their plans’ do not outnumber the 19 million of 20 million ‘newly insured’ under ACA.
The ACA R&R will almost certainly allow current policyholders to keep their policy until it expires, then allow 2 or 3 renewals or reinstatements under the new coverage form.
Dems continue to spout LIES about people losing coverage with ACA R&R. Absolutely FAKE NEWS from Dem Socialists who fear the imminent loss of a Social Insurance program which will be replaced by something that will WORK BETTER and turn people off from social insurance FOREVER!
Imagine the property policy premium a US insurance company will rake in on this structure! How should the multiple time zones and multiple states (TX, AZ, NM, CA) be handled in the policy and the (necessary) fac cert reinsurance contract? Would the drone coverage be an endorsement or a separate cover? So many questions, so little time for an ambitious agent to get his/her foot/paw in the door to broker the insurance deal(s).
DC, it is in the millions. When a country has 95 million over the age of 16 in this country not working, gave up looking for work under Obama, there is a significant number of them taking Disability.
Too bad this had to once again become a polarized political discussion. At this rate there really is no hope of bridging the massive divide which will certainly bring us all down and solve nothing regarding this issue or anything else.
Social Security Disability $ 2,600 ?? If a person work all his life he–she only gets $ 675 if they retired at age 62 not Fair ??Social Security Monthly payments need to be Raise $ 675 is nothing and you worked all your life for that ?

No, I said it finds and saves less than it costs to administer means testing. It’s called cost-benefit analysis, and people like me who got actually quantitative degrees instead of lying about getting degrees in statistics, and having Trump U level educations know the difference.
actu, purveyor of fake news, claims different things when confronted by what he posts.
Claims that ‘cost inefficiency’ is the point
AFTER
also claiming cheating is very rare… which is a stupid claim to make in light of HUNDREDS of cases found in the past, and documented by investigative reporters.
actu = Purveyor of Straw Man Arguments and Diversionary Tactician.
FAKE VIEWS!
>cheating the system is relatively rare (it’s not easy),
Cheating happens, but is not as frequent as the dumbest, least informed, want us to believe
>and means testing is actually more expensive. They catch fewer than it costs.
Because it is not widespread additional means testing (there is already some as noted) costs more than if they do not expand means testing.
You:
Claims that ‘cost inefficiency’ is the point (That is the point. Why else would you whine about it being rare if not to cut down on it?)
AFTER
also claiming cheating is very rare… which is a stupid claim to make in light of HUNDREDS of cases found in the past, and documented by investigative reporters.
Hundreds is not very many in a nation of over 300,000,000, you innumerate, illiterate, fake statistician.
You cannot even make a coherent point. You write at a 5-8th grade level (literally, I copied your writing and tested it), how can we seriously believe you can analyze anything?
Polar Bear – youre confused. People with fake SSNs pay into social security but CANT receive benefits, so its the opposite issue, we are gaining their dollars.
Can’t you tell by his numerous comments he’s ignoring you? What that means in his alternate facts world is ignoring the facts, and making comments to change the discussion to something else.
The data for this are BLS series:
LNS12000000 & LNS12026620
Not that anybody making the claims would know what to do with it, or how to look at it.
You can make #’s tell you anything you want them to them to say. God Bless
Medicare isn’t in trouble?
That is correct.
Citizens’ wealth is in trouble of being taxed more to pay for PAYGO Ponzi Schemes established by the US Govt; e.g. Social Security and Medicare.
Add Ponzi Scheme to the words you don’t know. Add Social Security to the programs you know less than nothing about.
Here’s how to fix Social Security and Medicare;
Turn them over to the private insurance / financial investment management firms to run in a COMPETITIVE environment.
Socials Security —> 401ks, IRAs, etc.
Medicare —> ‘HEALTH CARE SPECIFICCS’ involving ONLY private insurance… not government administered insurance.
Here’s how to fix the IJ comment boards;
ignore ignorant libitterals.
Here’s how to improve the IJ comment boards;
provide evidence to support your arguments
Fake News Outlets that are the ONLY source you accept will not report things that vary from their/ your libitteral agenda.
You comment does not apply to me. See above.
George Soros will be looking for a refund of bitcoins paid to online trolls. They’ve been very ineffective. Some are stuck on their recent packaged query “link to prove that?”.
Trolls don’t ask others to prove their arguments with evidence.
From an Agent post: per Wikipedia, a troll is a person who sows discord on the internet by starting arguments or upsetting people by posting off topic messages with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or otherwise disrupting normal on topic discussions.
Your interpretation of the definition is biased. You are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. But why should you trust my biased opinion? Return here after consulting 100 other people who read your posts over the last week. Let us know their diagnosis of your condition.
Can you provide 1 proven case of Soros paying protestors and online trolls since you state it every story, and also whine about fake news? I would hate to think you were an ignorant, lying, fake news pusher, which I am sure is not the case.
Little guy, aren’t you the one that Bob tried to educate for 6 months on about every subject with his well thought out, supported positions and you rejected them every single time? You demand proof and then you reject the proof. Why should anyone try to prove anything to you since you have an agenda and a closed mind? That is the trait of a Progressive and you either didn’t learn anything in school or you can’t do basic research. As I recall, you have trouble with Google as well.
Nixon taking us off the last vestige of a gold standard allows the govt to manufacture/create monies
I hope PolarBeaRepeal isn’t one of my employees sitting around all day posting comments on IJ. Get a life, man. Or a job.
I sure hope you’re not one of my employees.
Nope. Not one of mine…. thank God.
Polar, it will be interesting to see the President’s speech in front of Congress even if the Democrats boycott it. Let’s hope he can brow beat them into approving his cabinet so he can continue the good work of recovering this country. It should be must see TV.
It was also interesting that the drunk/dope head Hollwierdo’s couldn’t even get their Best Picture named right. They did get their insults/slurs in again against Trump. That was basically all that was on their mind.
You know so little about the internet it is hilarious.
Polar, Hector has an interesting moniker name. One of the trolls that pop up after changing from some other moniker. I can’t imagine him as an employer of anyone.
Nobody with an IQ over 40 could imagine you as an employer of anybody, but you claim to be.
Interesting that we have not heard President Trump and the Republicans speak about the debt, deficits, or a balanced budget lately.
Only increasing spending and reducing taxes.
Use your remote to change the channel to a reliable source of news.
My bear ears must hear better than human ears.
The budget is a KEY underlying factor in producing a replacement to ACA.
‘Balanced budgets’ will require a Constitutional Convention, mainly due to Schmucky Schumer’s Democratic Hypocritical Obstructionist policy and agenda.
I see your TROLLIBITTERAL* approach; i.e. pick a topic that the politicians aren’t focusing on and claim they are ignoring it. Got it!
* – my new, favorite, catch phrase; thanks go to a colleague for it.
Please advise which channel(s) is reporting that President Trump and the Republicans are actively trying to reduce the debt and deficits.
Find it yourself, TROLLIBITTERAL!
Or, ask your Congressional representatives.
In your home state, are they Dems, Repubs, Indeps, or a mix?
Good luck with getting an answer from a Repub.
No one in the media cares about THAT topic now.
Elections have consequences.
Ron – I don’t know why you keep trying to have an intelligent rational and sincere adult conversation with TrollerBear anymore. He is a dishonest lying hypocrite (see above for one example).
TROLLIBITTERALs are incapable of having an intelligent discussion…. they reject facts exposed by conservative media …. because no one expects the liberal media to report things that reveal faults in liberal agendas and socialism. LIBITTERALS say they only accept links from ‘reliable’ or ‘credible’ news sources…. and those two adjectives are determined only by them.
There is no sense in debating libbitterals who think of themselves as judges in debates they are participants in.
PS no one cares about that topic now…. budget issues are being discussed as part of ACA replacement… it must fit within the budget.
Want to know what the Republicans are discussing behind closed doors? So do the news media, so YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY PASS IT …. to the media, to find out what’s in it. Or, ask your Republican Congressman to tell you. Good luck with that, or if you are in a deep red state with no Republican representatives. LOL!
“reject facts exposed by conservative media”
I’m still waiting for you to post said facts
“LIBITTERALS say they only accept links from ‘reliable’ or ‘credible’ news sources”
As stated above: I don’t care what the source is. Fox, CNN, NY Times, The National Enquirer, BBC, Al Jezeera America, Breitbart – I don’t care. They all must pass the same validity test.
Polar, cut Ron some slack. He has Chucky Schmucky as his Senator. Does that explain a lot about his attitude?
>TROLLIBITTERALs are incapable of having an intelligent discussion…. they reject facts exposed by conservative media
Says the Birther who thinks climate change is a conspiracy, lies about his degrees, doesn’t know basic rules about averages, and couldn’t answer basic questions about regression analysis even though he claimed to have a statistics degree. Deplorables for life.
This looks a lot like Fake News;
https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-proposal-aims-end-insurance-073948771.html
*****************************************************************
Here’s the most important aspect that Schmucky Schumer fears….
“…it will put insurance companies back in charge…”
Dem Socialist / Communist-wannabes fear loss of government control of ANY benefit program. Sorry, Schmucky, but Medicare is next, and then Social Security will follow after that, to be replaced by expansion of current, individually controlled retirement plans such as IRAs, etc.
addendum;
If past patterns are indicative of future actions, George Sore-ass will be covertly be hiring demolition experts in the near future…
https://www.yahoo.com/news/agency-publishes-timetable-mexico-border-wall-191426103.html
I know of 3 people who received Social Security Disability and are able to work. This practice is sick.
DC, it is in the millions. When a country has 95 million over the age of 16 in this country not working, gave up looking for work under Obama, there is a significant number of them taking Disability.
The Republican plan is being leaked…. see the other IJ article for the story reported today….!
My doctor told me that in order for her to continue as my physician, I must take the “Wellness Test”. I don’t believe this is true. By not taking this test, it is saving money . Also, there is no indication that I need to take this test.
I took it the first year it was out and I thought it was a waste of time.
Please notify by mai so that I can show it to her
My husband is still working at 70 full time while drawing SS benefits. When SS and Medicare are still being deducted from a 70myear old totaling over 1700 this year, from his earned income! Taxes still being deducted from SS as well. I can’t find any information explaining this one way or the other. Any documentation available on this or are we just blindly being triple taxed while we go on living and working till we die!
My husband and I are 66 and drawing ss.we have a grandson that we have permanent guardianship of.his parents are alive but unfit.can we draw ss on him?
