Two Bias Universities in Bias States doing a non Bias study. Are you kidding me? I would postulate that the conclusion was made before the study

Well, they list the prior research on this subject which found the same results. It makes sense if they hypothesize it would happen also in their city. I don’t see the issue that they found data to back up their claims.

      What are you upset about?

Not mentioned is that certain pedestrians will purposely walk into an oncoming vehicle for big insurance liability.

Why would that be mentioned? That makes no sense.

Sorry but the solution to this problem is very similar to so many others in our society. We simply do not have enough law enforcement officers to enforce with regularity the laws that are of “lesser” importance. I wonder if the legislators in the states would allow the police departments to keep a significant portion of the fines collected in “special enforcement” areas if we could not pay the salary and benefits from ticket revenues alone. One thought would be add $25 dollars to each fine from these areas the officer would only have to write 3-4 tickets per hour for things like distracted driving, failing to yield for a cross walk, speeding, etc etc. Regular drivers in the area would quickly get the message and the “special enforcement” unit could move on to the next trouble spot.

If you’d like to see your ideas in practice, may I suggest a trip to Belmar NJ between Memorial and Labor Day (or as I use to call it “Ye Olde Revenue Enhancement Days”). The local PD, their ranks swelled by extra seasonal officers on bicycles, wait like birds of prey for every jaywalker, drunk driver, speeder and traffic violator, and scofflaw of every type to run afoul of local ordinances. It does nothing to improve the quality of life for local residents, seasonal visitors get soaked for minor infractions, and the local politicians and seasonal landlords (who are the same people) make out like bandits. It sucks.

Is tax payer money used in studies like this? How about people texting while driving and pedestrians texting while walking? There is your culprit, not racial bias.

There are also those who step into the crosswalk and walk so slow, like everyone has all day or the ones who just step off the sidewalk texting or reading their email without even looking to see if someone is coming.

They should also disclose, for the actual accidents, did they occur at night or day and what the white vs color relationship there? The article is slanted and hinting at prejudice against people of color. Perhaps most deaths occurred at night when motorists could not tell what color person they were running over.

Jack, this is a terrible article which points to a liberal bias much like the Buzzfeed, Fake News reporting we see every day.

What color were the drivers? What age were the drivers? What income level did the driver have? Which drivers were in a hurry (ex: late to work)? Terrible article. Only purpose is to stir up racial hate. Hopefully when it starts, it starts with the finders of this article.

Seriously, who comes up with these asinine studies. Frankly, anyone who crosses outside of crosswalks [76% of pedestrians] are fair game for these idiots. If there is any federal funding of this study, you have an excellent example of why those funds should be curtailed.

I was on a bike in the bike lane of a busy street with three other cyclists, all with headlights flashing. We approached an intersection, and had a green light and therefore the right of way. A guy in an SUV on a connecting street appeared to be looking straight at us, and started to pull out right in front of us. We were able to stop a few feet away from his front bumper, and he slammed on his brakes. The look on his face told me he didn’t even SEE us. He was so focused on looking for other CARS, he didn’t even notice us. Looked right past us like we weren’t even there. I suspect the same thing applies to pedestrians.

Look at all these typical Republicans. No idea how to read a research article and picks apart things that they don’t agree with. Look up the other research on it. No not your Facebook. No not what Fox News says. Go look up a journal article and then come back to read it.

We didn’t have any trouble spotting a Progressive Democrat, Harris. By the way, your side lost. You live in an Alternate Universe. We live in the real world.
