I am sure you will get a reply, but he should wait until you post all those scientific studies you were talking up in the opioid and marijuana articles last week. 7/6 came and went…

Agent’s post is full of outright lies and some accidental half-truths. We could spend time posting the truth of the matter (161 amendments from GOP approved in the bill, hundreds of hours of open floor discussion on the bill, etc), but neither he nor you actually care, so nobody should waste their time trying to do so.

After all, you will just repeat the exact same talking points next time the topic is brought up.

Entirely a lie on your end, they didn’t accept any republican ideas. The mandate is not something they did to bargain with republicans, and republicans didn’t want it. The mandate was included in one of three bills in the 90’s, and was the minority opinion bill. It has been minimally supported at best, and was the minority suggestion.

If it was a republican ideal, they would have supported it.

List an idea that the republicans suggested I 2009 during the debate that was implemented.

I can list many on the republican plan, and that is weakening the republican plan.

Pre existing conditions are staying the same, kids on the plan same age, do you want more actual provisions?

“Yes, FFA. It would have been nice if people of good faith crafted a bill that would be good for all Americans.”

An opinion, not a lie or misinformation.

“The problem 7+ years ago, the Progressive Democrats thought they knew best and would not accept any Republican ideas to have a bi-partisan bill and based everything they did on a lie.”

The last part is an opinion, regarding the lie, the first part is a verifiable fact.

“Now that their vaunted Obamacare has completely imploded, they oppose anything that would fix the very bad legislation.”

The first part is an arguable opinion, the second part is true and an opinion. The democrats are opposed to republican fixes. This is not to be unexpected, nor is Agent’s phrasing, and they way you’re treating Agent’s phrasing is the actual problem right now in politics and is why I comment each time you do it.

“They are cry baby sore losers and completely married to their agenda.”

This isn’t misinformation or a lie, but it isn’t particularly useful. Agent, don’t give them fodder to fire.

What he said on the second item applies to two items. The first item Obamacare imploding is obviously true in some capacity (see carriers leaving the market place, and some states have very few left) and the second item is a very arguable opinion (that democrats have blocked anything that would fix healthcare).

Regardless of this, I was pointing out that confused is arguing that there were VERIFIABLE lies. There were none.

There are items he disagrees with.

Well, some would say Romney’s healthcare plan was successful (hence ACA being based off it) , however, I do agree that they took something that worked for a small demographic and tried to make it work for the entire nation – not a good idea. ACA was, in many ways, a failure. That being said that shouldn’t give the GOP free reign to do what they have. We are swimming in undocumented waters these days.

No, that doesn’t, what actually sounds crazy is you calling it crazy, which is happening a lot on the left right now.

What she basically just said is the ACA or liberal ideals could affect full time hours, allows massive government control (which it does) and you may lose the ability to purchase personal policies that don’t meet the government standard (most young people only need a catastrophic policy and should be allowed to buy it.). They lost their policy. Maybe they cannot afford a lot, maybe they just want to save more money while they are healthy. These are logical debates, not Alex Jones style. The left is imploding currently, it’s so toxic I barely debate here anymore.

No it wasn’t, there are far reaching differences.

145 pages vs 2700. Mandates are not the only aspects of insurance.

Romneycare is not at all like Obamacare, other than by childlike comparisons.

Obamacare had all sorts of over step in terms of regulatory measures. They changed how much premiums can be invested, are you aware of this? Toward future claims. They made up front costs on absurd things, which really shouldn’t be covered by healthcare, and then that will disallow private insurance to insure against catastrophic claims.

You shouldn’t be using insurance when you have the flu, when you need birth control, or other aspects, you should pay in cash. When people get this, they will understand what is actually increasing the cost of care, part of it anyway.

Anyway, no such investment provision existed in Romneycare, just as one example out of the 2700 pages.

They lost support of two republicans. Democrats blocked any vote. The party of no here is clearly the democrats.

That’s basically what they have done for some time to hold the country hostage.

Again, before you go mouthing off, 20 republicans out of 40 some voted for AG Eric Holder, 1 voted for Jeff Sessions. From the get go Obama actually received some support on items that were reasonable. However, he then blocked republicans out of the healthcare debate, told them they get to ride in the back, less than 2 months into his crap, and the democrats have historically blocked nearly all republican legislation.

It’s time to get republican ideals in place, and the minority of republicans who disagree are not the problem, the unified obstruction of democrats is.

They blocked expanded retirement plans, they blocked a process to allow for some forms of private and public social security, they blocked their own aspects of the sequester to get even more tax increases, after they lied and never gave the cuts, etc, etc.

There is actually a list online showing how many bills were blocked. Yes, both parties do this, but one is vastly more successful at it.

        http://www.westernfreepress.com/2011/10/19/senate-democrats-block-bills-that-would-have-helped-create-thousands-of-jobs/

        Here are some.

I’m tired of this. It is very clear the left has had their way for some time, it’s time to get republican ideals in place, and provide new methods to retire for Americans other than taxing and spending.

Can the US, or any Government, afford “Preexcon unlimited high tech medicine.”?
Why not allow Preexcon, but charge Intentionally Unhealthy folks extra, unless they get healthy?
That would increase Revenues, or reduces Costs.
I have a niece that has juvenile diabetes and she lives as healthy a life as absolutely possible, but couldn’t get ins. with preexcon. What I don’t understand is why a person that smokes 4 packs a day should have same rates as she.
Fundamentally, should Individuals be Responsible for their actions?
Why not help people that do the best they can, but charge those that don’t.

      Bill Price,

I have come up with a solution for your issue with intentionally unhealthy people. However, it would only be feasible in a Single Payer system. Sin Taxes where the money goes directly into the fund to pay premiums to the private insurance companies. That way those who live such a lifestyle pay more for health care. Those who engage in consuming alcohol, junk food, soda, processed and certain fast foods, or smoking cigarettes (you could even legalize marijuana and other narcotics to include those behaviors) would pay more based on their level of consumption. If they get tired of paying the taxes, they could alter their lifestyle and live a healthier lifestyle.

      Would that work for you?

Sounds like the silver bullet approach to me. I can’t see any downsides in that way of thinking. It directly affects the bottom line against risky behaviors, while not causing so-called healthy people to pay more for their lifestyles or health insurance premiums.

Do you think before you contradict yourself more than even agent?

Your statement directly contradicts itself. People who lived bad lifestyles would be default be paying more taxes, aka premium. Taxes = moral, private transactions = immoral?

That is precisely what is dangerous about it.

So I will juxtapose the following to your solution, and you will see why:

Why don’t we make a sin tax for Gay couples. The gay life expectancy is very low. Being gay clearly has an affect on how long you live.

          https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/yet-another-study-confirms-gay-life-expectancy-20-years-shorter

I postulate that being gay is a risk in terms of potential healthcare cost. Well, you seem to be setting the precedent that it’s a good idea for the government to shape lifestyles…So what’s wrong with this?

Or is it just ok when it’s something you like? Is that it?

Let’s not forget that racism wasn’t stopped by the government, it was largely caused by it. Younger folks, which is why I still doubt you’re in your 40’s, were taught that the government stepped in and ended racism. No, they didn’t. The civil rights bill certainly helped, but the government is why the problem existed. You’re forgetting what happens when the government starts to encourage or force lifestyles, ways of life, or moral aspects.

It isn’t good. It is how tyranny comes to be.

Your and Doug’s arguments are far too simple. To watch some Ben Shapiro for the love of God.

Clearly, people here that didn’t like this post may not have seen I was not seriously advocating such a sin tax. It was put side by side with what Ron said to expose the tyranny. Not to suggest it literally.

The government should not be in the field of determining lifestyles. They have never been good at it, and they largely were the cause of racism in the times it was an issue.

Running to them isn’t a good idea.

The government putting a sin tax toward a lifestyle is a bad idea.

What happens if you can’t pay the tax? Revoke the license? When you can’t pay a health bill maybe you go to collections. When you can’t pay a pud bill you get garnished and possibly lose your right to vote and license.

The government should not be influencing life decisions. Private decisions should stay with private companies, through voluntary transactions.

Why would we not simply use insurance by the same measure? Charge more? Why is it ok for your plan, but not ok for republicans to simply allow healthcare plans to be more expensive? Single payer systems are not the solution. They don’t encourage people to shop around doctors, the cost of medical care will not go down.
