The Louisiana Department of Insurance reported that Insurance Commissioner Robert Wooley’s weekly question and answer column, “Ask Robert Wooley: Your Commissioner of Insurance,” has received recognition from the Louisiana Press Women’s Association. The first place award for an informational column was presented to Department of Insurance public information director and column editor Bobby Ann Clark at the annual LPW communications awards banquet.
The weekly question and answer column, which provides consumer tips about insurance in a simple, straightforward format, has received the first place award four of the last six years. The column will now compete as Louisiana’s entry in its category at the National Federation of Press Women’s annual communications awards in Wilmington, Delaware this September.
“I’m pleased that the column has received such outstanding recognition,” said Commissioner Wooley. “It is one of our most successful means of presenting complex insurance issues in terms that everyone can understand.”
The “Ask Your Commissioner of Insurance” column is made available to news publications and Councils on Aging across the state of Louisiana on a weekly basis. In addition, the department produces a one-minute script version of the column each week for use by radio and television stations statewide.
The LDI also received a second place award in this year’s LPW competition for the “Auto Rate Comparison Guide,” edited by public information specialist Laura Landry.
Free copies of all LDI publications are available upon request by phone, toll-free at (800) 259-5300, or on the Department Web site at www.ldi.la.gov.
