Austin, Texas-based the Societies of Certified Insurance Counselors and Certified Insurance Service Representatives announced the presentation of 23 scholarships at the 62nd Annual Convention of the National Association of Insurance Women held in Nashville, Tenn.
Each scholarship grants full tuition to one program conducted by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. Danielle D. Janecka, assistant vice president of The National Alliance, made the presentations. “The scholarship recipients are all NAIW members who are active in the industry and put a high priority on advanced education,” Janecka noted.
CIC scholarship winners include: Bureda Faye Ashley, Burke, Powers & Harty, Inc., Bristol, Tenn.; Barbara L. Karchner and Debra E. Musgrave, both with Associated Insurance Management Inc., Danville, Pa.; Tammy J. Klein, O’Connor & Associates Insurance Inc., Dubuque, Iowa; and Nena F. West, Florida Insurance Center Inc., Plant City, Fla.
CISR scholarships went to: Sara Coker, Landry Harris & Company, Lafayette, La.; Abigail R. Courville, Hibernia Rosenthal Insurance, Lafayette, La.; P. J. Hawthorne, AIS Professional Insurance Services, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Paulette E. Jones, P. E. Jones & Associates, Wrightsville, Pa.; Dawn Lander, Allstate Corp., Reading, Pa.; Fritzie K. Nixon, Empire Insurance Companies, Omaha, Neb.; Teresa C. A CIC Update Scholarship for NAIW members who are CICs was awarded to Teresa S. Johnston, Guilford City/County Insurance Advisory Committee, Greensboro, N.C.
CISR Update Scholarships for NAIW members who are CISRs were awarded to Katherine T. Charbonnier, Engle, Hambright & Davies Inc., Stroudsburg, Pa. and Dene F. Moyher, Anthony C. Piccolo Agency, Harwinton, Conn.
CISR OnLine Scholarships were given to Helen Andrews, Stewart Sneed Hewes, Jackson, Miss.; Kathi H. Moore, J. C. Milliken Agency, Ellsworth, Maine; Sharon A. Perschall, Sawyer Foster Insurance, New Orleans, La.; Weslyn Pharis, The Bottrell Insurance Agency Inc., Jackson, Miss. and Colleen M. Waugh, Heinz Insurance Agency, Owatonna, Minn.
The National Alliance and the NAIW have formed a partnership for the benefit of NAIW members and insurance professionals across the country. In addition to initiating the CIC and CISR scholarships, the two organizations have worked together to establish links on their Web sites, encourage the promotion of the Outstanding CSR of the Year Award, and promote the sale of publications by The Academy of Producer Insurance Studies, the research arm of The National Alliance.
