A public memorial service for Bruce Milligan, former president and CEO of Dallas-based Republic Group of Insurance Companies, will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church at 3821 University Blvd. in Dallas. A public reception will be held afterward at Republic headquarters at 2727 Turtle Creek Blvd.
The memorial service is expected to last about an hour. The company has arranged for six buses to transport employees and agents to the service. Buses will depart from Republic headquarters at 1:15.
Milligan died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, Aug. 30, of a heart-related problem. He was an active member of an investor group that had recently acquired Republic from Winterthur and re-established it as an independent company.
A scholarship in Mr. Milligan’s name has been established at Augustana College. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the scholarship fund. The address is Bruce R. Milligan Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Al DeSimone, vice president of development, Augustana College, 638 38th St., Rock Island, Ill. 61201-2296.
