Dallas/Fort Worth-based Higginbotham & Associates announced it hired trucking and transportation insurance expert David Emerson as vice president of the firm’s newly established Transportation Division.
Emerson brings with him more than 16 years of commercial insurance experience, with a strong focus in the transportation industry. Most recently, Emerson was agency manager of American Trucker Insurance, a subsidiary of Great West Casualty Company, headquartered in Arlington, that caters to the insurance needs of the transportation industry. During his tenure, Emerson delivered risk management strategies to commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators, developing the expertise that he now employs at Higginbotham on behalf of its transportation clients.
“Transferring and financing the risks typically found in the transportation industry requires anything but a typical solution,” Emerson said. “Our particular knowledge and understanding of the transportation business allows us to provide the risk analysis, loss control and claims management necessary to place cost-effective yet comprehensive coverage for our clients.”
Emerson began his career as an Aetna Insurance Company agent. He later assumed sales and marketing management positions at USF&G, Allstate Insurance and AAA Insurance. From 1993 to 1998, Emerson was owner and president of Anastasia Corporation, an Arkansas-based insurance agency.
Operating from Higginbotham’s Dallas office, the Transportation Division offers an array of insurance products and services designed exclusively for fleet drivers and owner/operators to help protect against their unique exposures. Insurance coverages offered through Higginbotham’s Transportation Division include liability, physical damage, cargo, inland marine and many other specialized transportation coverages, as well as traditional property/casualty and employee benefits.
